Match observations:

Tonight was one of the biggest nights in VCW history. Blood and Thunder
promised to be the biggest, most electrifying pay-per-view event since
Wrestlewar, and it certainly didn't disappoint in many regards. Wrestling-wise,
this was possibly the best VCW pay-per-view ever... and it wasn't short on
entertainment either. Many of tonight's events could have a huge impact on the
future of VCW for a long time to come.
After beating the former VCW World Tag Team Champions, the Boise Triad,
tonight, DeJohnnyration X has finally earned a shot at the VCW World Tag Team
Titles. This coming Monday, they will challenge the Wrecking Crew, who were
victorious over the Manhunters tonight, for the VCW World Tag Team Titles. It's
not yet known which two members of DeJohnnyration X will take the challenge...
but whoever it is will have their hands full against the Wrecking Crew. And the
Annihilators also have to be considered top contenders, since they defeated the
Immortals tonight in another match.
For the second time, Crimson has cost Marylin Silvera a victory over
Jessica Judd, knocking him senseless with a thundering blow from the guitar,
shattering the guitar into dozens of pieces and nearly doing the same for
Marylin Silvera's head. Both of Jessica's tainted victories have to be
considered major upsets, and it's a good bet that Marylin Silvera isn't happy
with Crimson these days.
Melissa didn't have any problem overcoming Dick Slater and Bunkhouse
Buck... the two wrestling veterans were totally unprepared for the intensity
and anger that Melissa attacked them with. She was well on her way to
dismantling Haigeikobai as well, when Stormy Weathers ran to the ring and hit
her with the ugly stick, then fled from the ring. Melissa chased after him, and
the referee was left with no choice but to rule this match a double-countout.
What that means for the status of Melissa's contract is unknown... but an
announcement is expected at tomorrow's show.
Rob Solomon finally settled his differences with Jack Norman tonight, in
spite of a large size advantage held by Hell's Bikers over Rob Solomon and
Devaccio Pola. After getting beat up in a parking lot, having the wheels stolen
from his car, being screwed by a corrupt referee, and generally being tormented
for five weeks, Rob Solomon finally settled the score when he pinned Jack
Norman in the middle of the ring with the Katana Legdrop. Nice to see justice
served here.
An epic battle between the Technicians and the Golden Society raged on
for twenty minutes, as both teams struggled to prove that they are truly the
masters of technical wrestling in VCW. And in dramatic fashion, after being
worn down for several minutes, Tim Bell managed to tag in Owen Addison, who
entered the ring with a burst of energy and fought off the Golden Society
singlehandedly before finishing Dean Sanders with the Tombstone and picking up
the win in a great, great match.
Though the Technicians take it as a source of pride that they win their
matches without using weapons or hardcore tactics, their leader, Jacob Idol,
made an exception to that rule tonight. When the Torturer brought in his wooden
axe handle and attacked Jacob Idol, he turned the weapon to his own advantage,
ducking and snatching the weapon away from the Torturer, then clobbering him
with it for the victory. It was a big win for Jacob Idol, possibly one of the
biggest of his career.
It was somehow morbidly fitting that the technical wrestling of the
previous matches would be followed by the most gruesome, blood-filled matches
since Devaccio Pola and Bass Rogers had the House of Pain match. The first
Barbed Wire Match went two out of three falls, and in it Falcon fought off
injuries to his ribs and back to defeat Moy Lazzario two falls to one and win
the Moy Lazzario Best-Of-Five Gimmick Match Invitational. Both men ended up as
bloody messes after this fight, but it was nothing compared to what was to come
next...
Though the previous match had no shortage of blood, it was nothing
compared to the next match, which literally covered the mat in blood as David
Wright Hubbard and Terry Funk went through thirty-five minutes of hell in a
Barbed Wire Death Match, with neither man staying down for the ten-count
despite heavy amounts of blood loss. Finally, after clobbering David Wright
Hubbard with a barbed wire baseball bat, Terry Funk was able to defend his
legacy and keep David Wright Hubbard laid out on the mat for the ten-count.
Between his impressive wrestling ability and his willingness to use any
tactics available to win, Neytron DelArmeggio gave Troy Black a tough fight.
With the advantage in both size and technical wrestling ability, he managed to
dominate the match early on... but Troy Black refused to stay down, and
eventually came back to defeat Neytron, putting an end to his threat to the
Intercontinental Title.
And, of course, there was the match that had been five months in the
making... and it didn't disappoint. Chris Jericho did, in fact, call this match
right down the middle, and it was just the wrestling ability and will to win of
both men that decided the outcome. After nearly a half-hour of some of the best
wrestling action that VCW has ever seen, Gabriel Black proved that he is still
the best wrestler in VCW, lifting his shoulder from a German suplex combination
where both men were in a pin situation, outsmarting Richard Tobian to barely
retain his title. Unfortunately, Richard Tobian didn't see things quite as
objectively as other observers did; he blamed Chris Jericho for everything...
and that encounter unfortunately ended with Richard Tobian laying out Chris
Jericho with a chair.
Tomorrow night's show should be a good one as well, as the fallout from
Blood and Thunder begins to shape the future of VCW. What will be Melissa's
contract status after the somewhat odd ending to her match tonight? What will
be the consequences of Richard Tobian's attack on Chris Jericho? And with
Gabriel Black still holding the VCW World Title, what's next in his future?
These questions should be explored further tomorrow night. Also, don't miss the
great wrestling action... many of VCW's top stars, including both Gabriel Black
and Richard Tobian, will be present tomorrow. Don't miss a minute of the VCW
action... make sure to catch VCW Monday Night Wrestling tomorrow night!!
