Match observations:

Random Casualties just went down, and it may be the most memorable VCW
event yet. Any pay-per-view where Richard Tobian says the "F-word" can't be
just another VCW show!! And that's true especially for Random Casualties, as
nearly every match to take place tonight had very high stakes for all of the
participants.
After some nonsense with Rex Richards and Tuxedo, even the Waste-Of-Time
contained a pleasant surprise as Jessica Judd carried Bass Rogers to a good
sixteen-minute match. Not that Bass needs THAT much carrying... but a match
this good is unusual from him. In the end, Jessica Judd's bodyguard Crimson
interjected himself to stop Bass Rogers's Moonsault... Jessica Judd and her
posse quickly fled the ring after that as the referee called for the bell.
The "A Matter Of Respect" feud between the Middle-Aged Outlaws is
finally over, and it ended with the team coming to an understanding and
agreeing to reunite as a team. Each man now respects the other... it's a pity
that nobody else respects them at all.
Dean Sanders made an unscheduled return to VCW, attacking Virginia on
the outside of the ring and causing DeJohnnyration X to lose to the unlikely
duo of Rob Solomon and Haigeikobai in the Random Casualties tournament. That
wasn't the only treachery that the Golden Society had in mind, however, as
Neytron DelArmeggio laid down for Lance Errington in the first round to let the
Golden Society leader bye. In fact, the unlikely duo of Lance Errington and
Johnny Smiles won the tournament, and Johnny Smiles went on to win the match
after that when the antics of Dean Sanders backfired on Lance Errington. That
means that this Monday, Johnny's a booker. The VCW Championship Committee is
already preparing for a lot of no-shows.
As they had said they would do, the Ontario Color Show gave the
Manhunters a good thrashing in tag team competition. However, one can tell
times are changing... the Manhunters actually got a few cheers during their
offensive flurries against Owen Addison. This was a case of technical skill and
quickness beating power and size... a case that would repeat itself later in
the evening in a similar match, when the Immortals defeated the Bull Moose
Party to become the number-one contenders to the VCW World Tag Team Titles.
After the match, they attempted to get a little more punishment in, but a
mysterious man in a moose-horned helmet saved the Bull Moose Party from that
attack.
Marylin Silvera no-showed the match that was his brainchild, the
Indecent Exposure match. That's awfully suspicious... and it's just like
Marylin to set three people up to look like fools like that, then stand back
and laugh at them. Neither his partner Jacob Idol nor the Wrecking Crew were
exceptionally happy with his absence... he may not be laughing when they catch
up to him. As a side note, Haigeikobai, who replaced him in that match, was
utterly worthless. Go figure.
Tim Bell successfully defended his title against Devaccio Pola tonight
as well, in a great match between two great athletes. Though their team was
eliminated in the first round of Random Casualties, they almost stole the show
with this amazing Television Title match. Though Tim Bell was the winner, a
match like this truly reflects well on both competitors.
Richard Tobian brought his girlfriend Katherine to be his cornerperson
in the towel match against Moy Lazzario, on her insistence. He was promised
that the H.A.R.P. Squad was on full alert, and he equipped Katherine with a
Scott Hall-esque taser. On top of that, Moy Lazzario promised Richard Tobian
that the Inquisition wouldn't hurt her. So, of course, when Moy Lazzario went
down with a serious knee injury, the Torturer had to attack her. Richard Tobian
went berserk, brutally assaulting the Torturer and quitting VCW with some very
nasty comments for the management. His status with the company, despite his
words, is still undecided.
Melissa DelArmeggio and David Wright Hubbard obviously prepared for a
brutal match, and it was very brutal. Both of them left the ring as bloody,
hacked-up messes... but Melissa amazingly left the ring a winner, after David
Wright Hubbard ran afoul of the electrified cage. Many weapons and instruments
of torture were used in this crazy match... referee Linda Peterson was totally
unable to keep control.
The Torturer was injured, and Troy Black and Falcon trusted one another.
Yet somehow, Gabriel Black managed to win this match, along with the
Torturer... whose amazing ability to compete with his injuries rivals that of
Mick Foley. The Torturer and Gabriel Black are now VCW World Tag Team
Champions... they'll be hard to dethrone for those titles, to be sure. Gabriel
Black's ability to win this match is another testament to the claim that he may
be the most determined and skilled wrestler in VCW today.
Moy Lazzario, Melissa DelArmeggio, David Wright Hubbard, the Torturer...
many VCW stars sustained injuries, ranging from minor to severe, during this
show. The brutality of the Hardcore Cage match, the ferocity of Richard
Tobian's wrath, and the Torturer's unwillingness to know when to quit all
contributed to the high body count of this event. What more can be said, save
to say that Random Casualties '99 did indeed live up to its name.
