Match observations:
Survival of the Fittest was brought to you tonight out of the United
Center in Chicago, Illinois tonight, and what a show it was. Even the Waste-
Of-Time had a significant aspect, as hometown boy Rex Richards defeated
Haigeikobai to pick up a victory... something that's not exactly common to him.
But overall, from top to bottom, this pay-per-view was an excellent follow-up
to Blood and Thunder, and really went a long way in shaping the future of
Violent Championship Wrestling.
Russel Taylor and the Super Giant Ninja were also involved in the
Waste-Of-Time, against a mystery team that turned out to be the Public Enemy,
Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge. Unbelievably, Russel Taylor and the Super Giant
Ninja couldn't even beat the Public Enemy, which proves just how talentless
they really are! After about four or five seconds of thought, the VCW executive
committee has decided not to keep the Public Enemy on the VCW roster, due to
the fact that they suck and nobody wants to see them.
The Technicians were prominent in the show-opener matches, and had mixed
results, as Tim Bell lost two out of three falls to Dean Sanders, and the
leader of the Technicians, Jacob Idol, lost to Bass Rogers, while the Ontario
Color Show had more success, defeating the Manhunters. Really, the Technicians
have been a disappointment ever since Blood and Thunder... they just haven't
done anything!! It remains to be seen whether or not they'll get with the
program and start focusing on concrete goals in VCW again... but so far, this
isn't the technical wrestling revolution that Owen Addison talked about.
Virginia may have come a long way in recent weeks, but she's still not
on the same level as the Torturer, and it showed prominently tonight when he
made short work of her in their match. Her DeJohnnyration X teammate and
boyfriend, Johnny Smiles, was more successful tonight, avenging Marty
Jannetty's attack where Johnny was kicked through a plate glass barber shop
window... but can DeJohnnyration X continue to succeed over the long haul with
only two members now?
The Annihilators defeated the Immortals, two falls to one, largely
because of Nicole's interference, which caused a disqualification for the
Immortals fairly early in the match. With this settled, maybe the VCW locker
room can return to relative sanity without a lot of pie fights and practical
jokes. But then again, as long as teams like DeJohnnyration X and the Bull
Moose Party are around, you can never be certain about that...
One of the matches on this pay-per-view that caught everybody's
attention was the Evening Gown Match between Marylin Silvera and Jessica Judd,
where Jessica Judd was stripped totally naked before a pay-per-view audience.
That certainly captured a lot of fan interest, and while it may result in a
need to find a few new sponsors for VCW Monday Night Wrestling, it certainly
was a crowd pleaser. Marylin Silvera tried to give everybody an extra show by
taking his own gown off... fortunately, Crimson entered the ring and put a
violent, ugly stop to that, nearly crippling Marylin Silvera and earning the
gratitude of many VCW fans in the process.
"Stone Cold" Moy Lazzario lasted longer than most people expected
against David Wright Hubbard... that's about the nicest thing one can say about
his performance in the Texas Death Match tonight. He had the tar beaten out of
him for ten straight minutes, and while he did get in a few good displays of
offense against David Wright Hubbard, it simply wasn't good enough... David
Wright Hubbard absorbed it all, and flattened Moy Lazzario repeatedly without
ever being pinned. Moy Lazzario didn't stay down after the first few pins, but
he couldn't keep getting up from David Wright Hubbard's intense power offense
forever; David Wright Hubbard won this one decisively.
Hell's Bikers weren't successful in their bid to capture the VCW World
Tag Team Titles from the Wrecking Crew, even after making the match a no
disqualification, no countout, no time limit match. The manager of Hell's
Bikers, Dick Douglas, tried to interfere by throwing the crowbar to Jack
Norman, but Rock wasn't having any of it; he stole the crowbar, used it on Jack
Norman himself, then put him away with the Breakdown to retain the titles in
the first major title defense for the Wrecking Crew.
Few things could be more violent than a no disqualification match
between the Wrecking Crew and Hell's Bikers, but the Hardcore Cage Match that
followed it was. Chris Champlain and Devaccio Pola absolutely annihilated each
other in the Hardcore Cage, and outside of it as well, after Chris Champlain
knocked Devaccio Pola off of the cage with a dropkick. Both men were bloody and
nearly crippled at the end of the match, but Devaccio Pola walked away with the
victory after strangling Chris Champlain to unconsciousness with a strand of
barbed wire, tearing bloody shreds out of his own hands and Chris Champlain's
neck in the process. This match ranks right up there with Devaccio Pola's House
of Pain razor-wire cage match against Bass Rogers at Disaster Area as one of
the most brutal, violent matches in VCW history.
Gabriel Black's rematch with Richard Tobian didn't quite have the same
magic behind it as their first match. In spite of his threats earlier in the
month, Richard Tobian was playing to win tonight, if wrestling a little more
aggressively tonight. But Gabriel Black proved to be the superior athlete,
outwrestling Richard Tobian and defeating him with the Destiny Hammer to retain
the VCW World Title. After the match, Richard Tobian snapped and attacked
Gabriel Black with a chair, but Tattoo, the Referee from Hell, was the official
for that match, and he was present to enforce law and order, stopping Richard
Tobian's rampage before serious damage could be done.
The Survival of the Fittest tournament was the main attraction tonight,
and all three of the matches that took place couldn't be described as anything
less than excellent. Troy Black defeated Neytron DelArmeggio, in what could be
considered a return match from their last meeting at Blood and Thunder, while
Falcon proved once again that he's capable of beating Lance Errington. Troy
Black and Falcon met in the final match of the tournament, in the main event of
the evening, and put on the best show all night. Unlike their previous meeting
at Disaster Area, this was more than a long, drawn-out brawl... both men were
wrestling to win here, and it showed. But it was Troy Black who won the match
and the tournament after twenty-five minutes of intense competition, and it is
Troy Black who will meet the VCW World Champion, whoever that may be, at
Wrestlewar II. Below are the brackets of the tournament with the final
standings:
It should be interesting to see what the follow-up to tonight's events
will be tomorrow night, on the next installment of VCW Monday Night Wrestling.
Both Gabriel Black and Richard Tobian will be present, as will many other top
VCW stars such as Tim Bell, Johnny Smiles, and the Torturer. Join us tomorrow
night for the next exciting installment of VCW Monday Night Wrestling!
