Match observations:
VCW is proud to welcome Richard Tobian into the folds of its talent
pool. Richard Tobian not only defeated the Super Giant Ninja tonight, but he
also made the match look halfway decent in spite of the Ninja's utter
ineptitude. It will be interesting to see what his role in future events will
be... already he has distinguished himself through his taped vignette.
Bretta "The Barmaid" Biffcork and "The Pest of the West" Jesse Smark
failed to make a difference in "Holiday" Hunk Higgins's match against Jacob
Idol; he still got his butt kicked. At the show immediately preceeding
Wrestlewar, the Middle-Aged Outlaws will reunite to take on the Wrecking Crew.
However, they have no plans as of yet for Wrestlewar itself.
Stormy Weathers seems hell-bent on getting Melissa DelArmeggio killed.
After refusing to throw in her towel last week, he challenged Troy Black to
face her this week, in spite of lasting strain on her upper body from the bow-
and-arrow submission by Moy Lazzario a week ago. VCW Commissioner James Lockman
is expected to confront the two of them next week regarding their antics on VCW
television. Fortunately, Troy Black had the good grace to ignore them in favor
of challenging Chris Champlain to a rematch from their stellar match in the
World Title Tournament. This time, Troy Black won.
Jeff Wright of the Annihilators no-showed a six-man tag team match
against the Manhunters and Rex Richards, forcing Jacob Idol to step up and
perform double duty tonight. That may be part of the reason why the team of
Idol, Devaccio Pola, and the other half of the Annihilators Brian Rivera lost
to the Inquisition's trio. Of course, the Manhunters are nothing to sneeze at
anyway, being the number-one contenders for the VCW World Tag Team Titles. I
can't say the same for Rex Richards, however.
The Inquisition had an opportunity to hand-pick an opponent for former
VCW Television Champion Marylin Silvera tonight, and they capitalized on it
splendidly, bringing in the massive Bass Rogers, who ran over Marylin Silvera
like a bulldozer on his way to winning the VCW Television Title. For a short
moment, the Inquisition held two titles.
Johnny Smiles was certainly a busy man recently, not only starring in a
commercial for Chef Boyardee Beef Ravioli (it wasn't hard; backstage reports
say that he loves canned pasta of all sorts), but upsetting David Wright
Hubbard for the VCW Intercontinental Title. Johnny was certainly the
sentimental favorite in this match, but nobody expected him to actually WIN...
least of all David Wright Hubbard, who was livid after the match. Inquisition
leader Gabriel Black promised him a rematch in two weeks... one can bet he
won't take Johnny Smiles lightly during that match.
The evening was capped off by the setting of the main event for
Wrestlewar, when Gabriel Black will take on Falcon for the VCW World Title.
Gabriel Black sent the Torturer to soften up Falcon prior to the match... the
Torturer lost, but exacted a heavy physical toll on Falcon before losing.
Gabriel Black will obviously want to keep Falcon worn down before their big
match at Wrestlewar, and this may have been their first step.
As the plot continues to thicken for Wrestlewar, the questions to answer
continue to arise. What can we expect from Johnny Smiles's Intercontinental
reign? Will the Manhunters remain the dominant challenger tag team in VCW up to
Wrestlewar? Will the Middle-Aged Outlaws actually win a match? And what will
James Lockman have to say to Stormy Weathers and Melissa DelArmeggio next week?
Time will answer these questions and others, as the road to Wrestlewar
continues...
