Match observations:
Tonight, an uneasy alliance was formed as Melissa DelArmeggio and Troy
Black teamed up to face Gabriel Black and Moy Lazzario of the Inquisition,
marking the first time that Troy and Gabriel Black have ever faced one another
in a VCW ring. The match ended as expected, with Gabriel Black destroying
Melissa, though she put up a good fight (at least, considering her extreme lack
of experience) going down. After the match, Moy Lazzario and Gabriel Black
continued to attack Melissa DelArmeggio and Stormy Weathers, only being stopped
when Troy drove them away, though he would later attack Melissa DelArmeggio
with a chair, presumably irritated by her constant attention.
Though she escaped injury due to Troy Black's rescue of her in the first
half of the main event, Melissa DelArmeggio's wrestling career may not last
much longer. James Lockman has given her five weeks to win a match by pinfall
or submission, or she will be barred from wrestling in VCW. Considering her
lack of wrestling skill, that's a pretty tall order at this point.
Another key element in Troy Black's future, the Torturer, is not doing
well in many of his matches, losing today to Devaccio Pola, who proved his
inexperience by losing to Rex Richards not long ago. The Inquisition blames the
Torturer's recent losing streak on the fact that he is focusing all of his
attention on preparing for the Iron Cage Axe Handle Death Match against Troy
Black at Wrestlewar. If in fact this is true, Troy may have quite a bit to
worry about; the Torturer is nearly twice his size, and obviously much
stronger.
While the Manhunters and the Wrecking Crew unsuccessfully battled for
supremacy in the tag team ranks (the double-countout finish of their match
resolved nothing), the Golden Society's team of Chris Champlain and Dean
Sanders stepped up to the task and defeated the Ontario Color Show to win the
VCW World Tag Team Titles. Next week, there will be a return match from this
week's double-countout fiasco to decide who will receive the all-important tag
team title shot at Wrestlewar.
David Wright Hubbard, meanwhile, has rebounded from his loss to Johnny
Smiles with a vengance, scoring a clean victory over VCW World Champion Falcon
in a non-title match tonight, and definitely setting Falcon back in terms of
momentum going into his big match against Gabriel Black at Wrestlewar. Next
week, he will receive a title match against Johnny Smiles, in an attempt to get
the Intercontinental Title scene resolved before Wrestlewar. He's more than
earned the rematch by virtue of his victory over Falcon.
