Match observations:
The card opened with pure garbage, some silliness involving Rex Richards
and the Super Giant Ninja, followed by a dispute over a tip for the delivery of
food to "Holiday" Hunk Higgins by the Oriental Express and Stormy Weathers's
refusal to keep his hands off of Bretta "The Barmaid" Biffcork that led to a
match between the two teams which very few people cared to see.
Business picked up shortly after these inconsequential matches when Dean
Sanders, claiming that he wasn't getting the competition or the respect that he
deserved offered ten thousand dollars of his own money to anybody who could
beat him, mentioning every name from Kevin Nash to Gabriel Black to even Steve
Austin. As it turned out, Tim Bell was the man who accepted the challenge, but
he was defeated by Dean Sanders in a close match and failed to win the prize
money.
Richard Tobian has challenged the Torturer in his return match next week
before going on to face and defeat Marylin Silvera in his match this week. It's
not too unexpected, as Marylin Silvera still appears to have other things on
his mind, interfering during Jacob Idol's match against Chris Champlain and
probably costing Jacob Idol the victory. This looks like another feud setting
up for the Big Fight.
Speaking of feuds setting up for the Big Fight, the rivalry between
Neytron DelArmeggio and Devaccio Pola appears to be a long way from over after
Neytron's actions this week in unveiling a hideous painting of Devaccio Pola
and challenging him to a two-out-of-three falls match. Tempers eventually
flared, and the match was made; Devaccio Pola narrowly won it by a margin of 2
falls to 1.
Tonight was also a night where many larger wrestlers were overcome by
smaller, craftier adversaries. Hell's Bikers were the first to fall victim to
this trend, as they challenged the Ontario Color Show and were defeated through
superior teamwork and coordination of offense in spite of big talk. An even
greater extreme of this kind of event occurred when Bass Rogers made a speech
about how dominant he was during his reign as VCW Television Champion, a speech
that lasted several times longer than the Television Title match itself, in
which Rob Solomon was able to beat Bass Rogers with two moves in eighteen
seconds to become the new VCW Television Champion.
Troy Black's loss to Moy Lazzario last week appears to be a fluke after
all, perhaps brought on by Troy's multitude of nagging injuries last week; for
all of his confidence and readiness to ascend to the level of Troy Black, Moy
Lazzario was not able to defeat him a second time, and fell victim to the Black
Dagger in spite of his best efforts.
This was counter-balanced, however, by a big victory over Liberation X
by the Inquisition, with Gabriel Black pinning Jeff Wright in the end to
capture the victory for the team of himself and the Manhunters. This is a step
in the right direction for Gabriel Black to build momentum for the Big Fight
and his ladder match against Falcon. On the other hand, Liberation X is
outnumbered and perhaps outgunned by the Inquisition... it might be time for
them to reconsider the way in which they're going to wage their war against the
Inquisition's oppression.
