Match observations:
The night after the Big Fight was indeed a memorable one, in which many
VCW superstars sought to establish themselves in a new light, building upon
plans for their future after the changes that the Big Fight brought to pass.
The night started off with a speech from Richard Tobian, the winner of
the Big Fight, in which he spoke about his career and desire to get in the
ring with Gabriel Black. He challenged Bass Rogers to a cage match, which
would later be accepted, and promised Gabriel Black that he's not going to
rest until after their match. All in all, Richard Tobian has been brought up
to the main-event level in VCW virtually overnight.
Ruby Richard Cage discussed the recent problems that he's had with his
former partner in the Middle-Aged Outlaws, Hunk Higgins, but Rex Richards of
the Inquisition came out and shut him up in relatively short order.
Following that, Gabriel Black, David Wright Hubbard, and Bass Rogers came to
the ring, and made several announcements, establishing three of the matches
for tonight as well as the main event for VCW's Random Casualties, which
will be Troy Black and Falcon vs. Gabriel Black and the Torturer in a tag
team match.
David Wright Hubbard went on to destroy Haigeikobai by nearly
decapitating him with a devestating kick to the head, earning a quick win
over all three members of the Oriental Express, in spite of their
recruitment of Bretta "The Barmaid" Biffcork as Assistant Manager, and her
interesting list of restaurant/catering service related "skills".
Jacob Idol and Marylin Silvera have apparently come to an understanding,
as Idol saved Silvera from a certain loss to Rob Solomon and attacked
Solomon after the match, then claimed that he owed his life to Marylin
Silvera, and even that he loved him. Many fans of VCW are happy knowing very
little about the situation, but unfortunately, more will probably be heard
about that situation in the weeks to come.
Owen Addison had some venom-filled, hateful insults for Melissa
DelArmeggio, which were certainly uncalled for even though some of them may
have had a basis in reality. She tried to apologize and talk her way out of
a confrontation, but Owen Addison wouldn't have any of it; he slapped her
and spit in her face, and the match was on. David Wright Hubbard later came
in and attacked Melissa DelArmeggio with a chair, and together he and Owen
started to attack Melissa, but Paul Canyon came to the ring and talked Owen
into turning against Hubbard to help Melissa. That didn't stop Owen from
continuing to badger Melissa and eventually earning a low blow and a Back
Brain Kick from her. Due to pre-match stipulations, Liberation X will
receive a tag team title shot at the Ontario Color Show next week.
There is a new VCW Television Champion. Tim Bell defeated Chris
Champlain in a Television Title match that was almost overlooked due to the
lack of fanfare surrounding the match. Tim Bell is really on a roll these
days, with his victories over Dean Sanders, Steven Regal, and now Chris
Champlain to win the Television Title. It will be interesting to see exactly
what will come of his title reign.
It's official. DeJohnnyration X, the unlikely team of Johnny Smiles,
Virginia, and Marty Jannetty, is one of many factions in VCW, and it was
formed during this very show. Lance Errington led a Golden Society team of
himself, Neytron DelArmeggio, and Tuxedo against DeJohnnyration X, but to no
avail... Marty Jannetty defeated Tuxedo to bring home the first win for
DeJohnnyration X.
Richard Tobian finally got his cage match victory over Bass Rogers after
a grueling twenty-six minutes of wrestling, when he was able to put away
Rogers with the Fisherman Suplex. Though Bass Rogers is still 2-1 against
him, this victory definitely marks a turnaround in Richard Tobian's career;
it was a necessary step on his way to the level from where he can pose a
serious threat to Gabriel Black.
Gabriel Black, for his part, defeated Devaccio Pola in an extremely
competitive match tonight. Despite hitting the Guillotine Kick on Gabriel
Black at one point in the match, Devaccio Pola was unable to pin the
Inquisition leader, who eventually battled back to score the match victory
with the Destiny Hammer. Devaccio Pola, to his credit, put up an excellent
fight against the VCW World Champion... he did better than he was really
expected to do.
