Match observations:
Before discussing the events of tonight's show, here is some important
information. VCW's next pay-per-view, Disaster Area, will take place on the
twenty-third of May, and will feature hardcore elements and themes. All of the
matches will be no-DQ, no-countout matches, and many of them will contain even
more extreme elements. The main event will be Johnny Smiles vs. Gabriel Black
for the VCW World Title... other matches will be announced in the coming weeks.
On tonight's show, VCW's most unpredictable event, Random Casualties,
was followed by an equally strange edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling. By
virtue of his win at Random Casualties, Johnny Smiles was given the priviledge
of booking tonight's show... and his reign of terror resulted in several
noteworthy events throughout VCW.
As far as the undercard goes... the Middle-Aged Outlaws are back with a
vengance. They made their fresh start in tag team wrestling by losing to Hell's
Bikers after a baseball bat shot to the head of Ruby Richard Cage. At least
their corny "A Matter of Respect" feud is over.
Johnny Smiles's booking was almost entirely successful in putting
DeJohnnyration X and the friends of Johnny Smiles into winning positions. The
Immortals, however, managed to beat the odds and hang on to their spots as the
number-one contenders for the VCW World Tag Team Titles held by Gabriel Black
and the Torturer, in spite of the fact that they were not included in the
number-one contenders match that was to overrule their Random Casualties match.
They accomplished this by distracting both teams, and by breaking pinfall
attempts by the Manhunters and the Bull Moose Party until the thirty-minute
time limit was up. However, when they attacked the Bull Moose Party, the
mysterious man from Random Casualties came down and saved the day again.
On the heels of Richard Tobian's outspoken criticism of VCW, Lance
Errington had some very harsh words for the fans of VCW, claiming that they
were responsible for ruining wrestling and, more personally, for driving Lady
Erica Whitmore mentally insane. While the severity of Lady Erica Whitmore's
mental condition is a little doubtful, some of Lance's criticisms had a basis
in truth. On the other hand, as Rob Solomon would later point out before
beating the daylights out of Chris Champlain in a Hockey Stick Match, wrestling
isn't really ruined if the fans like it.
Richard Tobian is going to be staying with VCW after all, after James
Lockman managed to convince him to remain in VCW. He is definitely more
aggressive than he has been in the past; he called out anybody from the
Inquisition, then laid Bass Rogers out with a wooden axe handle when he showed
up to answer the challenge.
Marylin Silvera's trickery from last night backfired on him tonight,
when the Wrecking Crew and Jacob Idol sought revenge in a three-on-one handicap
match, which Johnny Smiles booked after being called "stupid" by Marylin
Silvera. He put up a good fight, getting several near falls on his opponents,
but the odds were too great for him to win.
This was by far not the only case in which an enemy of DeJohnnyration X
was defeated by being outnumbered. Tuxedo lost an arm-wrestling match to
Virginia when Johnny Smiles suddenly decided that it was legal for him to help
Virginia win it. After that, Virginia would go on to help "The Heartbreak Dude"
Marty Jannetty upset Lance Errington for the VCW Intercontinental Title as a
biased special referee.
Tim Bell and Devaccio Pola also met for the VCW Television Title
tonight, in a two-out-of-three falls match. As with their previous encounter,
Tim Bell won the match... he will go on to defend the title against Ruby
Richard Cage next week. That match isn't expected to be as good as the last two
Television Title defenses by any means.
But by far the most important thing to happen tonight was Gabriel
Black's second loss in the history of his VCW career. Johnny Smiles somehow
managed to outmanuver Gabriel Black enough to put him through a table and win a
non-title Table Match in what has to be the biggest upset yet in VCW history.
Because of this win, Johnny Smiles will go on to face Gabriel Black in a VCW
World Title Match (not a Table Match, however) at Disaster Area. It is
important to note that Gabriel Black has still never been pinned or made to
submit... and Johnny will have to pin him, or make him submit, to win the VCW
World Title at Disaster Area.
Next week's show should also be good... in addition to the main event,
in which the Immortals will challenge Gabriel Black and the Torturer for the
VCW World Tag Team Titles, many of VCW's top superstars will be present. Among
them are Liberation X, Troy Black, the Ontario Color Show, and David Wright
Hubbard. In addition, Johnny Smiles will meet Chris Champlain in a Hardcore
Cage Match, and much more!! Join us next week for all the great action!!
