Match observations:
The show opened on a sad note, as a moment of silence and a ten-bell
salute were given for "Ravishing" Rick Rude, who passed away last Tuesday. By
all accounts, he was a great man in addition to a great wrestler and
entertainer. The wrestling world, and the friends and family of Rick Rude, have
suffered a great loss.
The show went on, and two veteran wrestlers made their VCW debut under
Stormy Weathers. The former WCW World Tag Team Champion team of "Dirty" Dick
Slater and Bunkhouse Buck has come to VCW, and started their careers
impressively with a win over the Oriental Express. Time will only tell,
however, if they can do the same against real competition.
The Golden Society's situation looks less bleak than it did last week,
as Lady Erica Whitmore was able to come out and speak on television this week.
When she did, it was to challenge Virginia to an Evening Gown Match at Disaster
Area. In spite of a demonstration of her wrestling skills in which she tortured
the naive and moronic Russel Taylor, Virginia is the heavy favorite to win that
match. On the bright side for the Golden Society, Neytron DelArmeggio picked up
a victory over Rex Richards, and Chris Champlain, in spite of losing the
Hardcore Cage Match to Johnny Smiles, managed to injure him in revenge for Lady
Erica Whitmore's humiliation. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Marty
Jannetty was stripped of the Intercontinental Title by James Lockman, and he
will face Lance Errington at Disaster Area to determine who is the true
Intercontinental Champion.
Tim Bell still managed to hold on to his VCW Television Title against
Ruby Richard Cage (no surprise there), but was later challenged to defend the
title at Disaster Area against Marylin Silvera. He accepted that challenge, and
the match is now an official one for Disaster Area.
After a complete mismatch against Haigeikobai, Troy Black challenged
Falcon to a match at Disaster Area, further filling out the card for that
event. Falcon later accepted the match. Any stipulations to the match have not
been determined yet, but there are expected to be some stipulations.
Following a loss to Marylin Silvera, Melissa DelArmeggio was approached
by her brother Neytron, who urged her to retire from wrestling. Though they
walked away without a definite answer being heard, Melissa definitely seemed
moved by everything that Neytron had to say. A response from Melissa,
concerning the future of her VCW career, is expected to come next week.
Jessica Judd caused quite a surprise among VCW fans and many wrestlers
alike when she revealed that she was in love with Gabriel Black. This also led
her to take a match against Falcon, where the odds were definitely NOT in her
favor. In spite of losing the match anyway, she held on for much longer than
expected... maybe she has more talent than she's often given credit for.
For his part, Gabriel Black had bigger things on his mind... such as the
Immortals and Johnny Smiles. In fact, he ignored his match with the Immortals
almost entirely in favor of chasing Johnny Smiles, who had recovered enough in
the minutes following his Hardcore Cage Match to be able to throw a pie into
Gabriel Black's face and retreat. Because of this turn of events, the Torturer
was forced to defend the VCW World Tag Team Titles against the Immortals by
himself... and in spite of a good effort, he was unable to overcome the odds.
As a result, the Immortals are the new VCW World Tag Team Champions.
It should be interesting to see how the events of this week play out
next week. What's in store for DeJohnnyration X following the loss of the
Intercontinental Title and Johnny's injury? What, if anything, is in Melissa
DelArmeggio's future with VCW? And how will the tag team title change affect
the tag team situation in VCW, and the rivalry between Johnny Smiles and the
Inquisition? Next week should begin to shed light on many of these questions,
and many others as well. Richard Tobian, Lance Errington, the Wrecking Crew,
the Bull Moose Party, and many more VCW stars will be present next week!
