Match observations:
This was the final edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling leading into
Disaster Area, and while there were some bright spots, the card wasn't entirely
what one could have hoped for in an important card such as this one. After the
past few weeks, there was a lot of confusion in VCW that hasn't really been
cleared up.
One thing's for sure... a rash of loser-leaves-town matches has come up,
as Yoko Fargo Moto became the first victim today. The former Oriental Express
member who may have held the distinction of being the least physically fit
member of the VCW roster is now no longer on the VCW roster, thanks to
Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater. Additionally, Ruby Richard Cage will wrestle
Hunk Higgins in a loser-leaves town match as well at Disaster Area.
The Bull Moose Party also failed to impress tonight, as they followed up
what may have been the most nonsensical and pointless bit of television in VCW
history (and THAT's saying something) with an equally unimpressive loss to
Hell's Bikers. They are still expected to team with their mysterious friend,
the fellow with the moose-antlered helmet, and a mystery partner against Hell's
Bikers and the Immortals this Sunday... but they'll have to do better at
Disaster Area than they did tonight to acheive success.
In sharp contrast, Moy Lazzario really took the opportunity tonight to
shine, accepting Jacob Idol's challenge for a match at Disaster Area as well as
a challenge from Richard Tobian to wrestle tonight, and coming within an inch
of beating Richard Tobian several times. Moy Lazzario's arrogant claim to the
title of "Rookie Sensation" isn't far from the mark... he can really perform.
Melissa DelArmeggio inserted herself into the middle of the Falcon-Troy
Black feud... with about the same results as she would have inserting herself
into the middle of a demolition derby. After taking some rather severe words
from Falcon and a double arm DDT from Troy Black, she can't be going into her
match against her brother Neytron DelArmeggio with any sort of positive mental
outlook. This could be trouble, considering that the future of her career will
depend on the results of that match.
Troy Black and Falcon, on the other hand, seem to want nothing better
than to destroy one another at Disaster Area. Melissa's attempts to talk sense
into them failed disasterously, and after tonight they are at each other's
throats more than ever. Many of the enemies of both men, such as the Golden
Society and the Inquisition, must be enjoying watching two of VCW's "heros"
tear one another apart.
It appears that Devaccio Pola has truly lost his mind. His challenge to
Bass Rogers for a "House of Pain" match at Disaster Area was extended and
accepted tonight. This match will be fought inside of a cage made of razor
wire, with plenty of sharp objects inside, where each wrestler will have one
fist taped. Just thinking about that sounds painful... but this is Disaster
Area, held by Violent Championship Wrestling... so what do you expect?
Marylin Silvera is still dead-set on defeating Tim Bell for the
Television Title... but among the confusion hanging in the air is the status of
the VCW Television Title. After a double-pin against Tim Bell, the supposed VCW
Television Champion, Chris Champlain claims that, by all rights, he is the VCW
Television Champion. However... Chris Champlain is booked in a Hockey Stick
Match against Rob Solomon at Disaster Area... so the status of the VCW
Television Title is still highly disputed.
Jessica Judd's "reward" from Gabriel Black wasn't quite what she had in
mind, and didn't turn out well for her at all, as she was placed on a team with
the Torturer and Bass Rogers against DeJohnnyration X, where she was definitely
the weak link. Gabriel Black's logic in picking her instead of a more
reasonable choice of David Wright Hubbard, or even Moy Lazzario or himself was
definitely questionable... even die-hard Inquisition loyalists were uneasy
about this decision. The result, which saw Johnny Smiles defeat Jessica Judd to
win the match, gives Johnny a burst of momentum coming off of his recent injury
inflicted by the deadly Chris Champlain... and he'll definitely need it against
Gabriel Black at Disaster Area.
While some of the events tonight (undercard nonsense, Bull Moose Party,
Jessica Judd in the main event) were somewhat questionable in quality and
explanation, Disaster Area is certain to shed some light onto all of the
confusion and disorder running rampant in VCW. This definitely looks like a
pay-per-view event in which some serious issues will be settled... and as VCW's
most hardcore event ever, it promises to be a show worth seeing. Join us this
Sunday, when VCW presents Disaster Area!!
