Match observations:
One night removed from Disaster Area, and one night removed from the
tragic death of Owen Hart, the state of the entire wrestling world is still in
the process of pulling itself back together. VCW was no exception to that rule
tonight, but in spite of the sadness and confusion hanging over the entire
wrestling world, life goes on, and so does the sport of wrestling.
Ruby Richard Cage is on a roll, at least by his standards, after
following up on his win at Disaster Area in the Loser-Leaves-Town match against
Hunk Higgins with another victory, this time over Russel "The Muscle" Taylor.
If he ever faces some real competition and wins, his career might finally go
somewhere. As of right now, however, he's just drifting in VCW without a
purpose.
Jessica Judd was scheduled to face Rob Solomon tonight. However, Gabriel
Black's "punishment" of Jessica Judd left her unable to compete tonight, while
Rob Solomon was also unfortunarely able to attend the event due to having the
wheels on his car replaced with cement blocks while he was stopped at a hotel
last night. The match ended up being Crimson, Jessica Judd's roadie, against
Jacob Idol, who substituted for Rob Solomon. To the surprise of many, Crimson
was unaffected by Jacob Idol's offense and squashed him in relatively short
order with a vicious chokeslam. He hasn't expressed any desire to compete
actively in VCW yet... but when/if he does, he could possibly be a big player.
Neytron DelArmeggio, following his victory last night in the ladder
match which earned him control of his sister's contract, turned that control
this week over to Stormy Weathers, Melissa's hated former and (as of tonight)
current manager. Tonight, she was forced to wear garish, disgustingly ugly ring
attire and act as Haigeikobai's tag team partner against her hated rivals, the
Ontario Color Show. To her credit, she did an excellent job of carrying the
team, and at many times had one of her opponents beaten... but the referee was
down, or the other member of the Ontario Color Show would make the save, and
Haigeikobai was totally ineffective as a countermeasure against their teamwork.
This tag team of Melissa and Haigeikobai, in spite of a damn good effort by
Melissa, doesn't appear to have much (any?) of a future... the other tag team
managed by Stormy Weathers, that of "Dirty" Dick Slater and Bunkhouse Buck, is
much more promising.
In a rematch from last night's failure, the Annihilators met with
another setback, losing to the Manhunters again. Though they've often been
overlooked as serious tag team contenders due to their lack of participation in
big matches, the fact is that both Manhunters are large, powerful, and have
considerable wrestling experience. They're certainly not a team that can be
overlooked, and it looks like the other tag teams in VCW have been doing that
for too long now.
Devaccio Pola promised he would win the VCW Television Title tonight,
dedicating the match to Owen Hart, who he held up as one of his lifelong heros,
and he delivered. Still torn and chewed up from last night's horrific House of
Pain Match, he tore into Marylin Silvera with a fury, beating him within an
inch of his life, fighting off Marylin Silvera' size and power advantage, and
applying the Sharpshooter to earn the submission victory and the VCW Television
Title.
Tonight was also the agreed-upon night that Hell's Bikers were to
recieve their title shot promised by the Immortals... however, Jack Norman was
nowhere to be seen, though unconfirmed eyewitness reports say that he was seen
leaving a hotel the night earlier in the opposite direction of tonight's show,
with four wheels from a car strapped to his motorcycle. As a result, Butch
Manson drafted Rex Richards for the match as a replacement, and it hurt their
team horribly. The Immortals won, making short work of Rex Richards, who, if
anything, is even less competent in tag team competition than he is in singles
matches.
The main event of tonight's show was also a tag team match, in which
David Wright Hubbard avenged his loss to the Wrecking Crew last night by
bringing in Gabriel Black as his tag team partner. The Wrecking Crew put up a
tough fight, but were unable to defeat the Inquisition's top two members.
However, it's unlikely at this point that David Wright Hubbard is finished with
either the Wrecking Crew or Terry Funk.
Next week's show should be a good one. Johnny Smiles, Falcon, Troy
Black, and the Golden Society will all be there... and the main event for VCW's
next pay-per-view event, Gang Wars, will be announced. Make sure you join us
then; you won't want to miss a minute of what's in store from VCW!
