Match observations:
As the road to Blood and Thunder continues, major waves are being made
in the power structure of VCW. A new faction has emerged united in VCW, and
both the Inquisition and those who seek to stop them have created plans to
change the environment of VCW going into Blood and Thunder. What this means for
the big pay-per-view on the first of August is unknown... but it's clear that
the current picture in VCW is being shaken up.
Tonight, Owen Addison started the show's trend of changes by creating a
permanent unity with Jacob Idol, Tim Bell, and Paul Canyon. The four of them
referred to themselves as "the Technicians" many times tonight, and that's what
they will be referred to from this point on. Unfortunately, it appears as
though there could already be seeds of dissention within the group; Jacob Idol
didn't approve of Owen Addison's backfired attempt to "help" him defeat Marylin
Silvera tonight.
After failing to defeat the Golden Society or deliver a halfway
watchable match at Gang Wars, DeJohnnyration X has set their standards lower,
gunning for Ruby Richard Cage, Bunyan, and Wham Bam Gigolo, who own the VCW
World Tag Team Titles. James Lockman has declared that all three of them can
defend the VCW World Tag Team Titles amongst themselves... because, frankly,
any other team in VCW can still probably beat them three-on-two. DeJohnnyration
X surprised the world by FINALLY varying from their usual catchphrases, with
Johnny doing his best Konnan parody for the benefit of the Johnnycoholics
tonight. In wrestling competition, they managed to defeat two of the
Inquisition's finest and one of the Inquisition's worst, putting on a match
every bit as bad as the War Games Match at Gang Wars in the process. Some
things just don't change, I guess...
Speaking of crappy matches, the Golden Society lost all hope of carrying
the Bull Moose Party to anything other than a crappy match when Chris Champlain
no-showed and had to be replaced with Tuxedo. Tuxedo doesn't wrestle often in
VCW... tonight, we got a clear example of WHY.
Thanks to the outside interference of Butch Manson and the moronic
incompetence of referee Rick Douglas, who failed to disqualify Jack Norman
after blatant interference, Jack Norman defeated Rob Solomon. Knowing Rob
Solomon's short temper, this isn't likely to be the last word in this feud.
Also, this had better be the last time Rick Douglas screws up this blatantly,
or he'll be looking for another job.
Melissa DelArmeggio challenged Devaccio Pola for the VCW Television
Title tonight. Despite attacking him with Stormy Weathers's ugly stick early in
the match, she wasn't able to win the match... in fact, Devaccio Pola made
pretty short work of her, defending the title with relative ease. Stormy
Weathers wasn't happy with her performance in last week's VCW World Tag Team
Title match, and this match obviously won't improve his mood. It would almost
seem that Melissa is right back in the same slump that she was in at the start
of her VCW career.
The Inquisition had plenty of challenges to throw around. David Wright
Hubbard has challenged Terry Funk, his mystery partner who he brutalized at
Disaster Area, to face him in a Barbed Wire Death Match... and Moy Lazzario
challenged Falcon to a "Moy Lazzario Best-of-Five Gimmick Match Invitational",
where Moy Lazzario and Falcon will face each other in a series of gimmick
matches. The first of these tonight.
Though the Annihilators didn't have much trouble beating the Manhunters
tonight, the leader of Liberation X, Falconm had more trouble with Moy Lazzario
than expected. He accepted the challenge to compete in the Moy Lazzario
Best-of-Five Gimmick Match Invitational"... and lost the first gimmick match, a
cage match, tonight, by pinning himself with a surfboard on Moy Lazzario. This
time, it looks like Falcon outwrestled himself. Next week's Moy Lazzario
Best-of-Five Gimmick Match Invitational match will be a Brawl For All... which
should be... er... different and interesting, considering that neither Falcon
nor Moy Lazzario makes extensive use of shootfighting or martial arts
techniques in their matches.
What followed Falcon's match certainly put an odd twist on tonight's
main event. For some unknown, likely unintelligent reason, Richard Tobian's
girlfriend, Katherine, was at the arena tonight... and she somehow fell into
the hands of Rex Richards and the Torturer. An attempt to blackmail Richard
Tobian out of his Blood and Thunder title shot failed when Jacob Idol and Owen
Addison luckily came to the rescue, and Richard Tobian went on to narrowly
defeat David Wright Hubbard despite his injuries, but these events bring up a
number of things to wonder about. Is Gabriel Black really this desperate to
avoid facing Richard Tobian at Blood and Thunder? And what was Katherine even
doing at the arena? The possibilities of the title match at Blood and Thunder
get more complicated every week, it seems.
Next week's show should also be action-packed. In addition to a confirmed
Falcon versus Moy Lazzario Brawl For All, many of VCW's top superstars will be
present, including the Golden Society, the Technicians, Troy Black, Melissa
DelArmeggio, and the Wrecking Crew. Join us next week, as the road to Blood and
Thunder continues on VCW Monday Night Wrestling!!
