Match observations:

With Blood and Thunder, VCW's biggest pay-per-view attraction since
Wrestlewar, less than two weeks away, everyone in VCW is moving fast to get the
pieces into place for their Blood and Thunder plans. The show opened today with
just such a plan... DeJohnnyration X was negotiating for a shot at the VCW
World Tag Team Titles next week. This opportunity was important... whoever
holds the VCW World Tag Team Titles after next week's show will obviously go
into Blood and Thunder as the VCW World Tag Team Champions, to defend the
titles against the Wrecking Crew.
As it turned out, however, DeJohnnyration X didn't get the VCW World Tag
Team Title shot that they were hoping for, due to some shady dealings between
Hell's Bikers and referee Rick Douglas. Given that this isn't the first time
Rick Douglas has shown favoritism towards Hell's Bikers, and due to the fact
that he was caught taking a bribe via hidden camera, Rick Douglas has been
relieved of his referee duties. The title shot was instead granted to the
Manhunters... though "Dirty" Dick Slater and Bunkhouse Buck aren't about to
give up the titles without a fight, despite the fact that it could lead to
them pulling double-duty at Blood and Thunder; they must also participate in
the Four-Man Gauntlet Match involving Melissa DelArmeggio.
A great match between VCW's top two disgruntled psychopaths, David
Wright Hubbard and Devaccio Pola, was interrupted when Richard Tobian laid
first Hubbard, then Pola out with a chair. Why? Aside from the fact that David
Wright Hubbard is a top member of the Inquisition, simply because he can. He
challenged any member of the Inquisition to face him in the main event
tonight... he didn't quite get what he wanted, though. Devaccio Pola and David
Wright Hubbard would love to have revenge, to be sure... but right now, they're
both already occupied at Blood and Thunder, since Devaccio Pola will team with
Rob Solomon against his enemies, Hell's Bikers, and David Wright Hubbard will
settle an old score from Disaster Area with Terry Funk, who returns for one
more big Barbed Wire Death Match at Blood and Thunder.
Melissa DelArmeggio, for one, is eagerly counting down the days to Blood
and Thunder, where she'll finally have a chance to break free from her contract
with Stormy Weathers. Tonight is a stellar example of why she is so eager to
escape, as Stormy's "scientific curiousity" prompted him to find out how many
licks it took to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop. Before
Melissa could complete the experiment, however, Haigeikobai stole the lollipop
and ate it... then Stormy Weathers knocked him out... then he got beat by the
Manhunters. If there was a real point to any of this, I missed it.
Despite having no clear direction beyond a rivalry with the
Technicians, Lance Errington left a trail of destruction behind him. The first
victim was VCW interview man Fred Reid, who has since left VCW entirely due to
this abuse. Virginia was next... her plan to gain revenge for the events of
Disaster Area didn't work out so well, as she neglected the fact that Lance
Errington is a vastly superior technical wrestler. She was outwrestled, and
suffered the pain and indignity of losing to Lance Errington by submitting in
the Scorpion Deathlock.
As big as Brian Rivera's talk was tonight, he simply couldn't beat
Gabriel Black. That's not to say that Gabriel Black walked over him easily...
he gave Gabriel Black a fifteen-minute fight for the VCW World Title. But like
his partner Jeff Wright, who lost earlier to Bass Rogers, Brian Rivera was
unable to come away victorious and upset Gabriel Black for the title.
Falcon had better luck against the Inquisition, going up two to one in
the Moy Lazzario Best-Of-Five Gimmick Match Invitational by opening a bloody
gash in Moy Lazzario's forehead to win the First Blood Match. Moy Lazzario was
furious, and promised retribution next week in the Towel Match. For his own
sake, he'd better be able to back it up, or he'll lose the Moy Lazzario
Best-Of-Five Gimmick Match Invitational at least three to two, and possibly
even four to one!
Richard Tobian wasn't happy to find that his hand-picked opponent
tonight was Jessica Judd, but it just goes to illustrate how little Gabriel
Black wants to fight him. He's throwing everything he has into Richard Tobian's
path in the hopes of stopping him or slowing him down... and this, like his
previous plans, failed. Whether it's mind games or desperation, Gabriel Black
seems frantic to get Richard Tobian out of the way before Blood and Thunder...
but his time to do that has all but run out.
Next week's show should be great, as the superstars of VCW pull out all
the stops on the way to Blood and Thunder. Everyone will want to get the last
blow in before their grudges are settled... and many of the final surprises
will be revealed... including the special guest referee for the ultimate
confrontation between Richard Tobian and Gabriel Black. In addition to that,
James Lockman will appoint replacements for departed VCW employees Rick Douglas
and Fred Reid. Moy Lazzario will meet Falcon in a Towel Match, "Dirty" Dick
Slater and Bunkhouse Buck will defend their VCW World Tag Team Titles against
the Manhunters, and many more of VCW's biggest stars, such as the Technicians,
DeJohnnyration X, the Golden Society, Melissa DelArmeggio, and Troy Black will
be present. See us next week for all the great action!!
