Match observations:
On the final episode of VCW Monday Night Wrestling before Blood and
Thunder, VCW's big players pulled out all the stops and shook the foundations
of Violent Championship Wrestling. And it started at the very opening of the
show, where VCW Commissioner James Lockman announced that VCW will now be run
under the "wrestling entertainment" program of owner John Alexander, and
introduced VCW's newest referee and interviewer.
But that wasn't all that James Lockman would do today. He also shocked
the wrestlers and fans of VCW alike by revealing that the referee for the match
at Blood and Thunder would be none other than Chris Jericho, considered to be
the hottest free agent in wrestling today. While Chris Jericho and Richard
Tobian didn't seem to get along very well, it was Johnny Smiles who challenged
Jericho to a match tonight... and lost. It just goes to show, there's a reason
why Jericho's such a hot free agent these days...
Moy Lazzario took a few extra steps tonight in making sure that he would
win the Moy Lazzario Best-Of-Five Gimmick Match Invitational, attacking Falcon
backstage with the Torturer's help. Jacob Idol broke up the attack, brutally
beating the Torturer in the process, but it was too late... Falcon's ribs and
back were damaged in the attack, leaving him too weakened to win the Towel
Match against Moy Lazzario. In the end, Jacob Idol, who was also the cornerman
for Falcon, had no choice but to throw in the towel and save Falcon from
serious injury.
The continuing rivalry between the Technicians and the Golden Society
isn't any closer to being over after tonight's matches, where the members of
each group met in singles competition... they ended up splitting the victories
and losses evenly. Perhaps at Blood and Thunder, this issue will be resolved
when Lance Errington, Dean Sanders, and Chris Champlain will wrestle Tim Bell,
Owen Addison, and Paul Canyon in a six-man tag team match.
After tonight's events, the VCW World Tag Team Titles are now held by
the Inquisition's Manhunters, who will go into Blood and Thunder to defend the
titles against the Wrecking Crew. The two men who lost the titles tonight,
Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater, have promised that they will leave Violent
Championship Wrestling if they both lose to Melissa DelArmeggio in the Gauntlet
Match at Blood and Thunder. Knowing how focused Melissa is on winning this
match, that might not have been a smart promise to make.
As long as we're on the subject of Melissa, it should be mentioned that
she received a shot at Troy Black's Intercontinental Title tonight, as a
"going-away present" from Stormy Weathers. But Melissa's brother Neytron, who
wasn't satisfied with mocking a fake Troy Black in a rather stupid skit earlier
tonight, interrupted the match to viciously attack Troy. To make matters worse,
Stormy Weathers ordered Melissa to join in on the attack! But in spite of
everything, Troy managed to walk out of the ring after recovering and laying
out Neytron in the middle of the ring. Neytron has to be considering this a
very bad omen for his Intercontinental Title match with Troy at Blood and
Thunder.
Though they took tonight off from active wrestling in order to prepare
more fully for their Blood and Thunder confrontation, the rivalry between
Richard Tobian and Gabriel Black hangs thick in the air. At Blood and Thunder,
this confrontation, which has been five months in the making, will finally
happen. At Blood and Thunder, Richard Tobian will wrestle Gabriel Black, with
Chris Jericho as the special referee. And many, many more big matches will take
place as well. Don't miss the most important VCW event since Wrestlewar, Blood
and Thunder, only on pay-per-view!!
