Match observations:
VCW continues to head towards our next big pay-per-view extravaganza,
Survival of the Fittest, with more matches for the tournament taking place, and
more feuds practically begging to be settled at the upcoming pay-per-view show.
And with the boundaries of the friendships and rivalries of VCW's wrestlers
being constantly blurred and redrawn, it's anyone's guess what will happen
next.
The Immortals made it clear tonight that they aren't finished with the
Annihilators despite losing decisively to them at Blood and Thunder, saying
today that they still believe that they're the most dominant team in VCW. That
may well be the case, but they're not going to prove it by beating Russel
Taylor and the Super Giant Ninja, as they did today... that doesn't really
prove anything.
Another tag team that's renewing their interest in the hunt for the VCW
World Tag Team Titles is the Ontario Color Show. Owen Addison stated tonight
that the Technicians are looking for gold, and that he and Paul Canyon were
planning on challenging for the VCW World Tag Team Titles as soon as possible.
With the Ontario Color Show's history of success in tag team wrestling, and the
fact that Tim Bell and Jacob Idol are both a part of the Survival of the
Fittest Tournament, it certainly wouldn't be surprising to see one or more
members of the Technicians holding a major title soon.
Though his physical presence at the arena was not allowed due to a
thirty-day suspension, Richard Tobian still made his presence felt, threatening
Gabriel Black with revenge at Survival of the Fittest, when the two will have a
rematch. Each of these two men seems confident that this second meeting will go
his way... but both of them can't be right about that.
On top of their other rivalries, the Inquisition now seems to have
started trouble with Virginia, of DeJohnnyration X. Rex Richards insulted her
career and abilities tonight until she came out to put a stop to it. Though
Virginia shut him up pretty quickly, the Torturer ran out and attacked her.
Despite the Torturer attacking her from behind, she was able to fight him off
due largely to the incompetence of Rex Richards, and walked away unharmed.
The long-term unity of DeJohnnyration X may not go so unharmed, however;
Marty Jannetty is still unhappy, following a loss to Lance Errington tonight.
Johnny Smiles and Virginia tried to cheer him up, and it seemed to work, for a
time... but this kind of discontent may not go away quite that easily. This
could easily spell problems down the road for DeJohnnyration X.
Chris Champlain and Rob Solomon, who have had an off-again, on-again
rivalry in VCW, took a more serious twist to their battles tonight, when Rob
Solomon was injured during a brutal Falls-Count-Anywhere Match that somehow
found its way into the stands. Unfortunately, Rob Solomon will not be able to
compete in the Survival of the Fittest tournament with these injuries, so
Falcon will be given a bye to the semi-final round.
In the Survival of the Fittest tournament matches tonight, Dean Sanders
was defeated by Devaccio Pola, and as mentioned earlier, Lance Errington
defeated Marty Jannetty. Due to these updates, and the fact that Rob Solomon
will not be able to continue his participation in the tournament, the brackets
of the tournament now look like this:
Next week, we will bring you two more matches from the first round of the
Survival of the Fittest Tournament, as Neytron DelArmeggio takes on Tim Bell
and Jacob Idol faces Bass Rogers.
It's official now; David Wright Hubbard has been, in the words of
Gabriel Black tonight, "excommunicated" from the Inquisition. To fill his role
as the ruthless Inquisition "tough guy", Moy Lazzario has stepped forward,
calling himself "Stone Cold" Moy Lazzario, and claiming to the the "toughest
S-O-B in VCW". Moy Lazzario is a great wrestler, but calling him tough may not
be totally factual; seeing how poorly he fared in some of the more violent
gimmick matches against Falcon, he'd be hard-pressed to be the toughest guy in
a nursery school. That didn't stop him from quickly defeating Tuxedo tonight,
outmanuvering and outsmarting him by pinning him in a small package.
The Inquisition has more problems than just replacing David Wright
Hubbard as their top "tough guy". Troy Black made it totally clear that he
intends to win the Survival of the Fittest tournament, and get a shot at
Gabriel Black's title at Wrestlewar, assuming that Gabriel Black is still the
champion by that time. In all eight or nine months of VCW history, these two
brothers have never met in the ring one-on-one... and Gabriel Black doesn't
appear especially eager to meet Troy Black in the ring. If Troy wins the
tournament, though, Gabriel might not have a choice.
Next week's show should be another good one. Neytron DelArmeggio will
wrestle Tim Bell, and Jacob Idol will wrestle Bass Rogers, as the Survival of
the Fittest tournament continues. Also, Gabriel Black, Falcon, the Wrecking
Crew, David Wright Hubbard, the Technicians, and Jessica Judd will all be
present and competing in VCW matches. Make sure you join us next week for the
next installment of VCW Monday Night Wrestling!!
