Match observations:
As Violent Championship Wrestling returned to the VCW Arena in San
Francisco, California tonight, the most important and common theme throughout
many of the events that took place was the changing nature of relationships
between the various personalities in VCW. In many of tonight's matches and
events, alliances and rivalries were made and broken, and while many of VCW's
stars now know better than ever who their friends and enemies really are,
others are left in more ambiguity than ever.
The Ontario Color Show were involved in this sort of intrigue on two
levels tonight. They definitely made an enemy of Jacob Idol tonight, as Owen
Addison proclaimed himself the leader of the Technicians (which Jacob Idol
supposedly disbanded last week) and insulted Jacob Idol, earning a beating for
himself and Paul Canyon, who came to his defense. However, the Ontario Color
Show now has an unlikely ally in the Road Girl, who assisted them when Hell's
Bikers and Dick Douglas were about to give them a beating. When you also
consider that nobody knows how Tim Bell will react to the inner turmoil in the
Technicians yet, it becomes clear that the Ontario Color Show is deeply
involved in a number of different situations in VCW; what will come of them in
the future remains to be seen.
The title shot granted to the Immortals by the Wrecking Crew seems more
like a curse than a blessing after tonight. The Wrecking Crew successfully
retained the titles, giving the Immortals quite a beating in the process. This
doesn't bode well for the Immortals, who haven't been too successful lately,
and many people are already predicting that they'll be wearing dresses and
wrestling each other in an Evening Gown Match after Horror Show.
Devaccio Pola had some very threatening words for Moy Lazzario tonight,
accepting the challenge for a match at Horror Show, then going on to quickly
defeat Rushmore and retain the VCW Television Title. Though it would seem at
first that Moy Lazzario is going to get mauled at Horror Show by his much more
vicious and brutal opponent, Moy Lazzario is still a fairly talented wrestler
in spite of the fact that he acts like a jackass most of the time; this could
be his opportunity to step up and prove all of his critics wrong.
In the complicated, Machiavellian state of VCW affairs right now, it was
refreshing to see that Johnny Smiles still kept his goals simple: he wanted to
get Sensational Sherri topless tonight. He didn't succeed as he would have
liked, nor did he defeat Sensational Sherri in their match, but he did get one
thing out of tonight's confrontation: a tag team match featuring himself and
Virginia against Marty Jannetty and Sherri for Horror Show. And as far as
getting Sherri topless... well, there's always another day...
After his girlfriend's big upset victory, Marty Jannetty went on to
challenge Troy Black for the VCW Intercontinental Title tonight. He wasn't able
to score a second upset, though, and the match had pretty much the expected
results; Troy destroyed him and retained the VCW Intercontinental Title. But
the most interesting thing happened after the match. In spite of Troy Black's
denials of any relationship with Lady Erica Whitmore earlier in the show, she
came to the ring and prevented a possible attack from behind by Sensational
Sherri. This casts a little doubt on their assumed lack of a relationship.
Crimson and David Wright Hubbard beat the hell out of each other in
their match tonight, before their common enemy, the Inquisition, struck at both
of them. The Torturer laid everybody out with the wooden axe handle, and the
rest of the Inquisition wasted no time in following suit and beating Crimson
and David Wright Hubbard within an inch of their lives. While some people would
think that this is a stroke of brilliance from Gabriel Black, attacking his
enemies while they were fighting each other, it's a good bet that Crimson and
David Wright Hubbard will be willing to work together now in their rivalry with
the Inquisition. Rather than intimidating his enemies, Gabriel Black may have
unified them.
The unlikely alliance of Falcon and Richard Tobian, formed when Richard
Tobian demanded that Falcon proved that he could trust him, dissolved as
quickly as it was formed tonight, when Richard Tobian inexplicably attacked
Falcon with a chair during their match. Even more shockingly, the Gabriel Black
and the Torturer ignored an opportunity to beat on longtime enemy Falcon in
favor of attacking Richard Tobian... then they held Tobian in place for a cheap
shot by Falcon, which Falcon took. Though Falcon later took Gabriel Black down
with a Superkick, this raises obvious questions about Falcon and Richard
Tobian. Though many people dismissed Richard Tobian's claims that Falcon was a
member of the Inquisition earlier tonight, now it seems very possible that at
least one of these men could be an Inquisition member. Or is that just what
Gabriel Black wants people to think? Whatever the case, the rivalry between
Falcon, Richard Tobian, and the Inquisition has grown so complicated that not
even the people involved know for certain what's going on!
Next week's edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling should be a hell of a
show as well. Lance Errington will be there, and it's a good bet he'll have
something to say about Lady Erica Whitmore's actions this week. In addition,
Rob Solomon makes his return to active competition, and many more VCW top stars
such as Marylin Silvera, the Annihilators, and Tim Bell will be present. Join
us next week for all of the action you've come to expect from VCW Monday Night
Wrestling!!
