Match observations:

What a night! Disaster Area more than lived up to its name tonight,
soaking the mat in blood and giving us some of the most extreme action VCW has
seen since last year's Disaster Area pay-per-view. Though no one match stood
out as being as awe-inspiring or as brutal as last year's classic House of Pain
Match between Devaccio Pola and Bass Rogers, from top to bottom tonight's show
was packed with great wrestling matches and brutal, bloody brawls.
Even in the latter segments of the Waste-of-Time, some important
revelations were made. After nearly taking the Destiny Driver last Monday, Rex
Richards has made it clear that he wants out of the Inquisition. But how will
Gabriel Black respond to that wish? Up until now, everyone who has left the
Inquisition has done so after taking a severe beating, and lowly Rex Richards
may not have any better luck. In the same segment, Hunk Higgins also had plenty
to say, complaining about the "young blood" of VCW, and making the assertion
that he refuses to pass the torch to them. As usual, nobody has any earthly
idea what he's babbling about.
VCW's most hardcore pay-per-view of the year started, ironically, with a
Softcore Match, hopefully the last one to ever be seen in a VCW ring. The match
itself, however, was quite awe-inspiring, as Tim Bell and Neytron DelArmeggio
put on a technical wrestling clinic that would only be matched by Jacob Idol
and Paul Canyon later in the evening. Neytron DelArmeggio's attempts to wear
down the neck of Tim Bell for the Piledriver proved meaningless in the end, for
Tim Bell won the match via pinfall, not only retaining the VCW Television
Title, but putting an end to the miserable existance of the VCW Softcore
Title, as per the stipulations of this match. One phrase sums up the opinion
of most towards the Softcore Title's fate: Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Speaking of bad rubbish, VCW rookie talent, Head of Security and
(snicker) Power Plant student Arthur Justice, along with Virginia, had the
opportunity of providing us with a brawl that turned out to be the least
aesthetically pleasing match on the pay-per-view. However, when one considers
the outcome of this match, it may bear some significance; Virginia defeated the
inexperienced Arthur Justice, winning another battle in the DeJohnnyration X
"war against the system". Unfortunately, their enemies were to regain this
ground later in the evening, but it may be a sign that all isn't lost in their
attempts to fight oppression.
After that came the confrontation between the Immortals and the
Inquisition team of Bass Rogers and Moy Lazzario. Working on Moy Lazzario's
shoulder throughout the match paid off in the end for the Immortals, as the
match was ended in their favor when Moy Lazzario tapped out to the California
Crossface. This evidently didn't sit well with Bass Rogers, who beat the hell
out of Moy Lazzario and left him for dead after the match in the interest of
doing a little "spring cleaning" for the Inquisition. But was this "spring
cleaning" the will of Inquisition leader Gabriel Black, or did Bass Rogers get
this idea on his own? If the latter is the case, Bass Rogers may be in a good
deal of trouble himself.
What followed next was a very intriguing match on more than one level.
Not only did Jacob Idol and Paul Canyon put on one of the best displays of
wrestling ability all night, but the stipulation hanging over this match
dictated that the woman who accompanied the loser of this match to ringside
would strip completely naked. And when Paul Canyon emerged victorious with the
Magic Carpet Ride, Jasmina Ecstacy had to live up to that part of the bargain,
providing what was only the second display of full frontal nudity on a VCW pay-
per-view. This was definitely a pay-per-view moment to remember, for more
reasons than one.
Perhaps losing the VCW World Tag Team Titles has sent the Wrecking Crew
into a pattern of unsuccessful matches. Tonight, they were beaten in their own
element by Hell's Bikers, who faced them in a Barbed Wire Match and gave them a
beating like they've seldom had before. While the Wrecking Crew has been known
on occasion to lose wrestling matches to more technically proficient or clever
teams, this is one of the few times they've lost a down-and-dirty brawl without
some kind of outside interference. Hell's Bikers can now lay claim to two
victories over the Wrecking Crew in Barbed Wire Matches (for they also won a
similar match at the first Wrestlewar), and they have to be considered among
the top contenders to the VCW World Tag Team Titles.
One team that isn't quite in the number-one contenders picture after
tonight's matches is the Annihilators. They faced the Manhunters tonight for
the honor of wrestling the VCW World Tag Team Champions at Blood and Thunder,
but unfortunately they were unable to defeat the Manhunters tonight, and have
not earned that opportunity as a result. The Annihilators remain determined,
however; there's nothing they'd like better than to win the VCW World Tag Team
Titles from Troy Black and Falcon, and very little they wouldn't do to make
that happen. It's also true that the VCW Championship Committee is furious at
Troy Black and Falcon, who have not defended their titles once since winning
them a month ago. To sum it up, the VCW World Tag Team Title scene is due for a
major shake-up soon, and it wouldn't be surprising to see one or more of these
teams at the heart of it.
Though Virginia prevailed over Arthur Justice earlier tonight, Johnny
Smiles was defeated by the legendary "Pretty Boy" Jimmy Lockman, who is now
undefeated in VCW with three wins and no losses. When these two men fought, it
was a clash of two different styles; the largely basic, yet energetic, style of
Johnny Smiles, against the methodical, focused attack of Jimmy Lockman. It was
obvious that Jimmy Lockman knew what he was doing, scouting the Smiledriver and
knowing its counters, and working to cut off Johnny's breathing and take out
his legs, rendering him powerless to escape the Figure-Four Leglock, which
sealed the end of the match. The focused strategy and extensive of the veteran
triumphed over the youthful energy of Johnny Smiles this time, making it clear
that DeJohnnyration X has more reason to fear Jimmy Lockman than simply his
political power.
From there, we went to something completely different, watching Rob
Solomon and Devaccio Pola beat each other to a pulp in a Hockey Stick Ladder
and Cage Match. There was no methodical wrestling to be seen here... the men in
this match beat the hell out of each other, fell off of the ladder numerous
times, and nearly killed themselves in the name of trying to take the other man
down for good. After several falls from the ladder by both men that would make
Jeff Hardy cringe, Devaccio Pola claimed the hockey stick. But that didn't last
long before Rob Solomon reclaimed his favorite weapon and beat the hell out of
Devaccio Pola with it. But an attempted Katana Legdrop from the top of the
ladder went awry, and Devaccio Pola emerged with the victory, finally avenging
Rob Solomon's betrayal of him several months before.
When Julian Page faced David Wright Hubbard next, many observers who
knew the status of both men well expected to see Julian Page slaughtered for
our viewing pleasure. But amazingly, something quite different occured; Julian
Page went after David Wright Hubbard's injured knee like a machine, attacking
it ruthlessly and relentlessly the whole match. When David Wright Hubbard came
back, Julian Page avoided or absorbed the worst of his power offense, and made
a comeback of his own to decimate David Wright Hubbard with a pair of DDTs, the
latter one through a table. A half Boston on the bleeding, battered David
Wright Hubbard earned Julian Page the victory and the VCW Intercontinental
seconds later when Hubbard passed out from his wounds.
The Towel Match between Falcon and Lance Errington was next; Lady Erica
Whitmore, as planned, was in Falcon's corner, while Owen Addison of the
Technicians was in the corner of Lance Errington. Despite taking a severe
beating, including multiple Superkicks from Falcon and having a bloody gash
opened in his forehead, Lance Errington would not stop fighting, and Owen
Addison would not throw in the towel for him. Falcon also fought hard, though
Lance Errington worked over his legs and lower back, but he found himself
unable to escape the Scorpion Deathlock, at which point Lady Erica Whitmore did
the only thing she could do; she threw in his towel, giving Lance Errington the
hard-won victory.
That brutal fight was soon to be followed by another brutal fight, when
Crimson met Troy Black. This fight nearly appeared to be over as soon as it
started; both men went for their finishing manuvers early in the match, and
Crimson in fact gave Troy Black a Chokeslam early on, only to have Troy do what
has never been done before, and kick out after it. Troy Black went on to take a
total of three Chokeslams from Crimson, one on the concrete floor outside of
the ring, without being pinned; Crimson, for his part, kicked out of Troy
Black's Black Dagger, which hasn't been done in recent memory, and managed to
survive and fight off Troy Black's attempts to weaken his legs. But Crimson's
attempt at a fourth Chokeslam, which one must think surely would have ended the
match, was instead met with a kick to the midsection, which was followed in
classic Troy Black form by the double arm DDT. Troy Black proceeded to execute
the Black Dagger three more times on Crimson, and this was sufficient to hand
Crimson his first loss in VCW, and earn Troy Black the right to face the VCW
World Champion at Blood and Thunder.
There seemed to be only one thing that could top that match, and it was
coming up next. Gabriel Black and Chris Champlain met in a Hardcore Cage Match,
and proceeded to attack each other in every fashion imaginable. Chris Champlain
attacked Gabriel Black with every move in his arsenal and every weapon he could
lay his hands on, but Gabriel Black really showed why he is VCW World Champion
by unleashing an offense more powerful than anything he had ever shown before.
Chris Champlain managed to withstand it all, however; a fall from fourteen feet
to crash through the Swahili announcers' table, numerous beatings with deadly
weapons, and even a Destiny Hammer from the top of the cage were all
insufficient to keep Chris Champlain down. But in an ultimate twist of irony,
the move intended as Chris Champlain's coup de grace, a Split-Legged Moonsault
Bodyblock from the top of the cage, turned out to be his undoing; Gabriel Black
caught him and guided his momentum into the Destiny Driver, in effect giving
him a head-first landing after leaping off of over ten feet of steel cage.
Gabriel Black retained the title, but Chris Champlain wasn't the only
one to be carried away on a stretcher; while celebrating his victory, Gabriel
Black also passed out, and was carried away to a hospital. He will be okay...
but the same thing can't be said for Chris Champlain, who is out of action
indefinitely after taking the enhanced Destiny Driver. The bottom line is that
Gabriel Black is still the VCW World Champion, and tonight he triumphed over
one of his most persistent and desperate foes.
At this point, it appears as though Gabriel Black will go on to defend
the VCW World Title at Blood and Thunder against his brother Troy, but there's
still a lot that could happen between now and then. Gang Wars, the next VCW
pay-per-view, is coming up first on June twenty-fifth. Considering that this
event is based on competition between teams of wrestlers, this might be a
disasterous event for the Inquisition, which appears to be crumbling further
and further.
Tomorrow night will be our first chance to see many of VCW's wrestlers
react to the events that just took place at tonight's pay-per-view event.
Tomorrow night, when VCW makes a triumphant return to the United States of
America after our wildly successful Canadian tour, the show will be absolutely
packed. Troy Black, Falcon, Crimson, the Wrecking Crew, Devaccio Pola, and too
many more stars to count will all be present. Make sure you don't miss this
ground-breaking, action-packed edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling!!
