Match observations:
Tonight, we witnessed what could be a point of major change in VCW's
future for many, many months to come. All of VCW's top factions and alliances
met with their rivals to do battle, and on the whole, the men who came out on
top weren't the ones who the fans wanted to see in most cases. Right now, it
looks as though the forces that exert control over VCW have managed to hang
onto their power for the time being. Whether this is a reassertion of dominance
or just a minor postponing of the inevitable remains to be seen.
The new recruits to VCW's roster, Dave Adams and Main Street Pete,
dominated the Super Giant Ninja and Russel "The Muscle" Taylor, picking up
their first victory on pay-per-view. Their skills seem impressive enough, if a
little old-fashioned, but they're going to have to compete with tougher
competition than the Super Giant Ninja and Russel Taylor to get to the top of
the VCW tag team scene. Then again, look at Mongo and Arthur Justice...
The good news coming out of the next match is that the Young Blood, "The
Total Packer" Flex Loser, and "Big Sleepy" Evan Slash have seen their last days
in VCW only mere weeks after first coming here. Of course, the Middle-Aged
Outlaws remain, due to the fact that they dominated and won the match, but two
out of eight isn't so bad. Perhaps we should also be thankful that "Big Sleepy"
Evan Slash lived up to his name, falling asleep in the ring and allowing Silly
Kidman to pin him. Fortunately, the outcome of this all is that the Young Blood
and the Rich Guys' Club have vanished from VCW entirely, leaving only the
Middle-Aged Outlaws remaining. Call it breaking even.
After that match, VCW saw its first-ever Dirty Slut Scaffold Match, in
which a scaffold was erected over a pit of thick mud, and Jennie and Jasmina
Ecstacy climbed on top of it to do battle. Anyone who expected this to be a
classic wrestling match, or even a decent one, must have been disappointed; it
was full of hair pulling, slapping, and punching for the most part. At the end
of the match, we did see something unique from Jennie, who countered a power
bomb into a Frankensteiner that launched Jasmina Ecstacy off of the scaffold.
She managed to follow that up with another impressive spot: a flying cross body
press off of the scaffold onto Jasmina. Attempting to top even that, Jennie
subdued Jasmina and ripped off her bikini top, then teased taking off her own.
What would have come of that is not to be known, however, as a new, unfamiliar
woman attacked both women with a chair, knocking them both out before
denouncing the entire scene as immoral. Whoever this new woman is, she said
that we'd see her again in the future.
The next match was somewhat strange. It started as the Technicians and
their allies Lance Errington and Devaccio Pola against the Hammer of the Gods,
and indeed that's what we saw for the first eighteen minutes. In the end, it
came down to just Julian Page and Lance Errington, and neither of them wanted
to wind up on the losing end. They continued to battle for ten more minutes,
one-on-one, until finally Lance Errington did what the Hammer of the Gods
stopped him from doing last Monday, and achieved a victory over Julian Page.
That could go a long way towards earning him a shot at the VCW Intercontinental
and Television Titles.
The confrontation between DeJohnnyration X and the System wasn't quite
so even, though it started out even enough. Steve McMichael and Arthur Justice
were both eliminated in short order, taking Robert Danson of DeJohnnyration X
down with them. But when only "Pretty Boy" Jimmy Lockman and Tattoo were left,
things changed in a big way. The wily in-ring savvy and the sheer unstoppable
power of Tattoo's brutal offense were too great for DeJohnnyration X to
overcome, and the two surviving members of the System earned a victory. After
the match, they continued to beat on Johnny, then Virginia when she tried to
stop them. With both of them laid out, Jimmy Lockman gave them an ultimatum:
they must retire tomorrow night or face even more punishment from the System.
It's hard to imagine any members of DeJohnnyration X bowing to the System and
retiring, but at the same time, after tonight's sobering victory, even they may
realize that it doesn't look like they stand a chance.
The low expectations of David Wright Hubbard (and many VCW fans, for
that matter) concerning the mystery partner of Hell's Bikers were blown away
tonight. "Macho Man" Randy Savage made his return to wrestling and his debut in
VCW at the side of Hell's Bikers. In addition to contributing his skills and
physical presence, this definitely blew the minds of the team opposing Hell's
Bikers. The Wrecking Crew, the Annihilators, and David Wright Hubbard managed
to take out the lower echelon of Hell's Bikers, but Randy Savage and Crimson
both turned out to be too hard to take down. To make matters even more
interesting, it appears as though this may not be Savage's last appearance in
VCW by any means.
Just when it appears Gabriel Black is about to be humbled and brought
down, he always manages to pull some card out of his sleeve. In tonight's
match, that card was Rex Richards. When Gabriel Black cradled Rex Richards for
an instant pin in the beginning of the match, many people chalked it up to
simple incompetence by Rex Richards. But later on, when it was down to Gabriel
Black and Bass Rogers against Troy Black and Falcon, he made a big difference,
wiping out Falcon with a chair and enabling Bass Rogers to pin him, when
seconds earlier it had seemed as though Falcon was going to eliminate Bass
Rogers instead. In the face of this, the earlier loss by Rex Richards would
seem to be more than incompetence... it's probably a good bet to say he took a
dive for Gabriel Black.
Even that interference still didn't seal the match, though. Left on his
own against two members of the Inquisition, Troy Black tore down Bass Rogers in
short order, bringing the odds back to one-on-one with his brother, in a
rematch from their meeting at Wrestlewar. Troy Black was on fire, beating the
hell out of Gabriel Black most of the time. Gabriel Black made a few comebacks,
honing in on Troy's injured neck like a shark going for blood, but Troy ignored
it, even shrugging off the Destiny Hammer to finish strong and seemingly put
Gabriel away with the Black Dagger. Once again, however, Rex Richards came into
play, saving Gabriel Black by putting his foot on the ropes. A brief sequence
of chain wrestling ensued, in which Gabriel got the upper hand, nailing Troy
Black with a backdrop driver that nearly injured his neck again and enabled
Gabriel to steal the match.
Coming out of tonight's pay-per-view, the Inquisition is still five
members strong, though they lack any really big players like Falcon, the
Torturer, David Wright Hubbard, or Troy Black. Meanwhile, the System has
reasserted its control of VCW at the expense of DeJohnnyration X. The same
powermongers that have been in control of VCW come out on top again here... but
can they continue to have this kind of success? The Inquisition is obviously
not what it once was, but the System is showing no signs of weakness. Building
on the events of tonight, Blood and Thunder could be the decisive answer to the
future of VCW's most dominant forces.
Tomorrow night's edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling will be a star-
studded show filled with action and excitement. Two matches are already
confirmed, as the Immortals face Steve McMichael and Arthur Justice to see if
they can become the number-one contenders to the VCW World Tag Team Titles, and
Julian Page takes on Gabriel Black for the VCW World Title. Plenty of other top
stars will be there as well, including Troy Black, Falcon, David Wright
Hubbard, Crimson, the Manhunters, and many more. Don't miss tomorrow night's
action-packed edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling!
