Match observations:
Only two weeks and six days away from the next VCW pay-per-view event,
Spontaneous Combustion, some of VCW's most tense, emotional rivalries are
escalating even more with the events that took place tonight. The matches that
will take place on Spontaneous Combustion are falling into shape, and it looks
like the pay-per-view will be a decisive battleground, drawing ever closer to
the all-important Wrestlewar II, which is now scarcely three months away.
After last week's challenge to Gabriel Black for the VCW World Title,
Owen Addison may just get what he wants, if the Technicians can win two out of
three matches against Moy Lazzario, Bass Rogers, and Rex Richards next week.
But for all his talk, one has to wonder how well Owen Addison will fare in the
ring with Gabriel Black. While he may have proven himself to be the best tag
team wrestler in VCW, going one-on-one with Gabriel Black is a completely
different situation.
Lance Errington also is making a bid for the VCW World Title, following
up his victory over the Torturer last week with a bold challenge to his
longtime enemy Falcon for next week. If he can beat Falcon, he'll definitely
have a strong case for being a top contender for the VCW World Title. His plan
to have Tuxedo show up the Torturer tonight met with much less success,
however... not only did Tuxedo get demolished by the much more aggressive
Torturer, but he also suffered a broken finger in the course of the match which
will keep him from performing any of his duties as a wrestler or butler for
about a month. Yeah... like he had that many important duties anyway...
Add the Annihilators to a growing list of people who are out to get
Falcon. When they demanded an explanation for his attack on Troy Black and
alliance with members of the Inquisition, all they got for a reply was an
attack backstage at the hands of Falcon, the Torturer, and Rebecca Black. They
weren't ready this time, and were brought down without much difficulty, but
it's a good bet they're not going to take this lying down; Falcon may get more
trouble in the future from his former friends than he bargained for.
Neytron DelArmeggio is never up to any good, but tonight he was in rare
form as he continued his crusade against Crimson. Once again, he suggested that
Crimson was a talentless big man who got by on size alone, then brought out an
even larger wrestler in the Super Giant Ninja to face Crimson. When Crimson
toasted the Ninja like a marshmallow, Neytron attacked him after the match...
and didn't even faze him. It's not hard to see why Neytron might not like
Crimson; he doesn't like seeing a rival wrestler win matches by inherent size
and strength while Neytron has to keep his skills highly refined to keep on the
winning track. But given Crimson's recent track record, considering that he
hasn't been convincingly defeated once in his entire career, could Neytron's
jealous attempts to hold Crimson down just backfire on him?
The Immortals actually had the nerve to suggest that their Evening Gown
Match two weeks ago was a great display of wrestling talent. It seems that they
were offended that DeJohnnyration X (along with almost everybody else watching
the Evening Gown Match) laughed at them. Through use of questionable tactics,
they picked up a victory over DeJohnnyration X tonight, but when they tried to
inflict further punishment on Johnny, it backfired, because Virginia came in
and cleared them both out of the ring. Judging by the reactions of both teams,
this rivalry may not be finished yet.
The Wrecking Crew are back on track, defeating the Golden Society's
pairing of Dean Sanders and Neytron DelArmeggio after losing to the Manhunters
and the Torturer in a six-man tag team match two weeks ago. Still, it can't be
ignored that they were cleanly defeated by the former VCW World Tag Team
Champions, the Manhunters, who are now strong contenders for another shot at
the titles; the Manhunters will receive a second chance to prove themselves
next week, because they will face the Wrecking Crew in a non-title match at
next week's show.
In addition to his problems with the Annihilators, Troy Black, and
Richard Tobian, Falcon has one BIG problem that he ran headlong into today.
After the previous success the Inquisition had in tag team competition last
week, it wouldn't have been surprising to see them defeat the disorganized team
of David Wright Hubbard and Richard Tobian. But instead of that happening,
Falcon was assaulted by David Wright Hubbard, and fell victim to the Flying
Cross Bodypress to suffer a pinfall loss in the middle of the ring; something
that the higher echelon of the Inquisition hasn't had to face much lately.
But, more than the actual outcome of the match, the events that took
place after the match were significant as well. As Gabriel Black and Richard
Tobian brawled all over the arena, and the rest of the Inquisition was stopped
by the chair-wielding Annihilators, David Wright Hubbard attacked Falcon with a
chair in the ring, beating him senseless. When Rebecca Black tried to stop him,
she only earned herself an attack as well, which David Wright Hubbard didn't
hesitate in the least bit to dish out. There was no stopping David Wright
Hubbard, and Falcon received one of the worst post-match beatings in VCW since
David Wright Hubbard's post-match assaults on Melissa DelArmeggio, leaving the
ring on a stretcher.
Next week's show already has some big matches lined up for it. It has
been confirmed that we will see Tim Bell versus Rex Richards, Paul Canyon
versus Bass Rogers, and Owen Addison versus Moy Lazzario in a best-of-three
contest between the Technicians and the Inquisition. Also, despite the beating
he took this week, Falcon WILL be present to accept Lance Errington's challenge
to a match next week, and the Manhunters will take on the Wrecking Crew in a
non-title match. In addition, many of VCW's top stars will be present,
including Hell's Bikers, Rob Solomon, and VCW Intercontinental Champion Troy
Black. You won't want to miss the next exciting episode of VCW Monday Night
Wrestling!!
