Match observations:
At the final show before Spontaneous Combustion, VCW headed out east for
the first time in recent VCW history, to put on one heck of a show. The show
tonight contained plenty of surprises, unusual happenings, and last-minute
arrangements, all of which are expected to have a big impact on this Sunday's
pay-per-view. And if the events that took place tonight are any indication,
Spontaneous Combustion should be intense, to say the least.
With a somewhat pathetic plot to earn their potential VCW World Title
shot for Hunk Higgins out of the way, the Technicians are going on to face the
Inquisition team of Bass Rogers, Rex Richards, and Moy Lazzario at Spontaneous
Combustion for a shot at Gabriel Black's VCW World Title. The Technicians
certainly have momentum on their side at this point, but considering that the
last thing Gabriel Black wants is another challenger for his VCW World Title
right now, the Inquisition is likely to do anything necessary to make sure that
the Technicians don't win this Sunday.
Maybe it was just more of the usual nonsense from the Immortals and
DeJohnnyration X, but they seemed to come to an understanding tonight. Ken
Collins admitted that he was in love with Virginia, while Robert Danson agreed
to go out on the town with Johnny Smiles and Virginia after their match. Is
this typical insincerity from the Immortals, or a sign of something more? At
any rate, DeJohnnyration X and the Immortals are still scheduled to wrestle at
Spontaneous Combustion. Tonight, when their members met in singles competition,
they traded victories... but it has to be admitted, the Immortals have had much
more success in tag team competition than DeJohnnyration X.
Neytron DelArmeggio still hasn't stopped his attempts to take Crimson
down a peg or two, this time challenging him to a Chokeslam Match against Jack
Norman. While Crimson didn't have any problems beating Jack Norman in a little
under four minutes, he had bigger problems when Hell's Bikers and Neytron
attacked him after the match. But when Neytron called off Hell's Bikers and
went to finish the job himself, he discovered that he had no idea what to do
with Crimson, and ended up running for his life again. At this point, it looks
like Crimson has the advantage... but it's a safe bet that Neytron DelArmeggio
won't be coming to Spontaneous Combustion to fail and run away again.
Troy Black and Richard Tobian have had a very hard time avoiding the
urge to beat each other senseless before the pay-per-view... tonight, they were
so busy watching their backs against treachery from each other that they fell
victim to routine interference from the Inquisition, and lost their match
against the Manhunters. By the same token, however, the Manhunters are on quite
a roll, when one adds this latest victory over two top VCW stars to their two
recent victories against the Wrecking Crew. It looks like they may have a very
good shot of walking out of Spontaneous Combustion as the VCW World Tag Team
Champions.
But if there was one truly shocking thing that took place tonight, it
involved Lance Errington. His victory over Bass Rogers didn't surprise anyone,
nor did his acceptance of Gabriel Black's challenge to a tag team match at
Spontaneous Combustion, but what happened later that night did. After David
Wright Hubbard helped the Annihilators to defeat the Inquisition's team of
Falcon and Gabriel Black, Bass Rogers and the Manhunters came to the ring for
revenge. To make matters worse, Troy Black's attempt at evening up the odds was
derailed when Richard Tobian decided to get a head start on their match at
Spontaneous Combustion. And when things looked their bleakest, Lance Errington,
of all people, came to the rescue, fighting off the Inquisition and almost
singlehandedly turning the course of the brawl around. This goes against an
earlier statement by Lance Errington that asserted that his only goal was
winning the VCW World Title... but David Wright Hubbard and the Annihilators
are inclined to be thankful and not ask too many questions. If nothing else,
this showed Gabriel Black that Lance Errington is serious about opposing him
and winning the VCW World Title.
The waiting is nearly over, and the pay-per-view is nearly upon us. What
sort of carnage will ensue when Falcon and David Wright Hubbard step into the
ring to settle their differences once and for all? Will Lance Errington earn a
title shot at Gabriel Black? What about the Technicians? And who will be going
to Wrestlewar to face the VCW World Champion in the biggest match in VCW
history so far!? These questions will all be answered at the coming pay-per-
view, Spontaneous Combustion!! Make sure you don't miss it!!
