Match observations:

One night removed from Wrestlewar, and we've already seen a few
surprises. For many wrestlers, the gloom of Troy Black's injury at Wrestlewar
continued to hang over VCW tonight... but unfortunately, yet another serious
injury would be sustained tonight by Dean Sanders, during his Television Title
match with Rob Solomon. It wasn't a career-threatening neck injury, but a torn
rotator cuff is still a serious injury that could keep Dean Sanders out of
action for up to six months.
Unbelievably, lightning has struck twice in a matter of two days, as
Russel "The Muscle" Taylor earned himself a second victory tonight, defeating
Rex Richards tonight via a quick sunset flip. Rex Richards tried to exact
revenge on Russel, but he was stopped by the Super Giant Ninja. Infuriated by
his lack of success at doing anything tonight, he challenged Russel Taylor and
the Super Giant Ninja to a handicap match next week. While under ordinary
circumstances, Rex Richards fighting two men would be an instant slaughter, one
has to take into account the terrible won-loss records of the two men he's
fighting. Then again, Russel "The Muscle" Taylor is on quite a roll... can he
win three matches in a row?
Gabriel Black, obviously still very distressed over what happened to his
brother at his own hands last night, came to the ring to speak his mind and
wish Troy the best tonight, not to wrestle. This is a different side of Gabriel
Black than we've seen before, to be sure. It didn't last long, however; Chris
Champlain attacked him after his words for Troy, and the old Gabriel Black came
out in force, laying Chris Champlain out with the inverted piledriver, the same
move that nearly broke Troy Black's neck. Fortunately, Chris Champlain escaped
injury, but one has to think that even HE would realize that Gabriel Black is
the last person in the world that a sane person would want to mess with right
now.
Another man who wants a piece of Gabriel Black pretty badly is Crimson,
and he was quick to announce his intent to compete in the Big Fight, VCW's
thirty-man battle royal for a title shot at Blood and Thunder. That match, when
it takes place, should be nothing short of epic; both men have yet to be pinned
or submit in a VCW ring. Could Crimson be the man who can finally take the VCW
World Title away from Gabriel Black? If he can manage to win the Big Fight,
he'll have a chance to find out. He was certainly successful tonight,
annihilating both Middle-Aged Outlaws in a handicap-match.
Another man announcing his participation in the Big Fight is none other
than the VCW Commissioner and NCWA legend, "Pretty Boy" Jimmy Lockman. He was
in Commissioner mode tonight, though, as he announced the signing of "The
Franchise" Shane Douglas to a VCW contract. Shane Douglas, as usual, was happy
to say nasty things about everybody from his past, at least until Lance
Errington came out to shut him up. James Lockman didn't take that too well, but
at the request of Shane Douglas, a match was made between the two men for later
tonight.
The Technicians managed to rebound somewhat from their loss at
Wrestlewar to Julian Page and Jacob Idol tonight with a victory over Hell's
Bikers. The tag team scene is all set to heat up in VCW; not only will the
Immortals face the Wrecking Crew for the first time in several months at the
Big Fight, but the Technicians, Julian Page and Jacob Idol, and other tag teams
are rapidly rising in the tag team ranks. With the competition heating up like
this, will the Wrecking Crew have what it takes to remain on top of the VCW World
Tag Team Title scene?
When Rob Solomon challenged anybody to try to take the VCW Television
Title tonight, Dean Sanders was quick to answer the call, stepping up to try to
rebound from his loss last night at Wrestlewar by winning the title tonight.
But not only did he fail to defeat Rob Solomon, he also suffered a torn rotator
cuff during the match, which will unfortunately keep him out of action for the
next six months. Two serious injuries in two nights... this is a rather
disturbing trend, to say the least.
Johnny Smiles and the Immortals are doing pretty well for themselves
these days, following up impressive victories at Wrestlewar with a victory in a
six-man tag team match tonight. The Immortals are on their way to a shot at the
Wrecking Crew and the VCW World Tag Team Titles at Big Fight, and Johnny seems
to be on the track to success as well. Could a singles title reign be in the
future for Johnny?
Lance Errington wasn't afraid to take the fight to Shane Douglas
tonight... he had a lot of things to say about VCW's newest signee tonight,
even changing his ring music because he couldn't stand to use the same music as
Shane Douglas. Shane Douglas didn't appreciate Lance's comments at all, and one
stiff right hand to the jaw later, a match was made. After twenty hard-fought
minutes, Lance seemed to be on the verge of putting Shane Douglas away when
Stacey Lockman and Steve McMichael turned the tables in his favor, allowing
Shane Douglas to defeat Lance Errington in the middle of the ring, making his
VCW debut a successful one. But it's a good bet that Lance Errington isn't
about to take this lying down.
Next week's show should also be a big one. The Wrecking Crew, Falcon,
David Wright Hubbard, Chris Champlain and Gabriel Black have all been confirmed
to be there and be in action. In addition, plenty of surprises and high jinks
are expected as the superstars of VCW celebrate Valentine's Day. Hopefully, we
can put the tragedy of the recent injuries and mishaps in VCW behind us and get
into a more upbeat tone next week. Make sure you join us next week for a
special action-packed Valentine's Day edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling!
