Match observations:
Tonight, on our special Valentine's Day edition of VCW Monday Night
Wrestling, all virtually all of the top stars of VCW were present, and VCW fans
witnessed many things that will probably not be forgotten for a long time. Most
of the loose ends from Wrestlewar have been tied up, and it appears that the
focus in VCW is shifting once again to the future, which right now is open to a
world of possibilities. The Big Fight looms in the horizon, where the Immortals
will meet the Wrecking Crew, thirty of VCW's wrestlers will meet in a battle
royal to earn a title shot at Blood and Thunder, and as we just found out
tonight, Gabriel Black will defend the VCW World Title against Chris Champlain.
As it often does, the show opened up with an appearance by Gabriel
Black, Rebecca Black, Falcon, and Lady Erica Whitmore, where they made plans
for this Valentine's Day. Gabriel Black announced that he was leaving to be
alone with Erica, while Rebecca Black arranged two matches for Falcon's
benefit, pitting Jeff Wright against the Torturer and Brian Rivera against
Falcon himself. As we would find out, however, Gabriel and Erica's evening
didn't go quite as they had planned.
The third time was most definitely NOT the charm for Russel "The Muscle"
Taylor, whose rather unimpressive winning streak ended today with a loss to Rex
Richards. After Russel Taylor picked up an upset win over Rex Richards last
week, this match was made, and tonight Rex Richards avenged his loss by
defeating Russel in a handicap match. But will Russel "The Muscle" Taylor have
more success after first tasting victory a little over a week ago? More
importantly, is there a single VCW fan who cares about any of this?
Virginia was the recipient of a Valentine's Day surprise after she made
short work of Haigeikobai in her match tonight. Johnny Smiles made arrangements
to bring a band to the arena tonight, and performed Billy Joel's "Only The Good
Die Young" for Virginia and the assembled crowd. All things considered, it was
a rather impressive performance... who would have thought that Johnny could
sing? He could be the next "Double J" Jesse James! Wait... that's not a good
thing.
Julian Page and Jacob Idol were confident enough going into their match
with the Wrecking Crew tonight, challenging for the VCW World Tag Team Titles,
but they were unable to come out as champions. When Jacob Idol was beaten after
being hit with the Breakdown, Julian Page entered the ring and hit Blade with a
steel chair, ensuring that they would lose by disqualification, not pinfall,
and also ensuring that he would get plenty of exercise running backstage with
the Wrecking Crew in hot pursuit. The team of Julian Page and Jacob Idol
definitely has a promising future, but it looks like they tried to go too far,
too fast in this match, and it didn't work out for them tonight.
God only knows what kind of incompetent, harebrained VCW executive
Neytron DelArmeggio bribed to have the VCW Softcore Title recognized as an
official title, but he introduced it tonight, to the dismay of the crowd as
well as Bass Rogers, whose plans to win the title so he could pawn it and go
out for dinner were thwarted when Neytron DelArmeggio disqualified himself by
throwing Bass Rogers over the top rope, retaining the title in the process. It
goes without saying that VCW needs this title about as much as it needs to add
Ed Leslie and Erik Watts to the roster.
Another questionable addition to VCW's roster, Steve "Mongo" McMichael,
took on the daunting task of facing David Wright Hubbard tonight. Though Mongo
is obviously no match for David Wright Hubbard in terms of technical ability,
he was able to equal David Wright Hubbard in terms of sheer brute power, which
kept him in the match. It's even possible that Mongo may not be quite as lost
in a wrestling ring as people commonly think; his foot found the ropes after he
took the Flying Cross Bodypress from David Wright Hubbard. However, that did
him little good, as Lance Errington, at ringside to "watch" the match, pushed
his foot off of the ropes before it could come to the attention of the referee.
After that match, a camera mounted in Gabriel Black's limosine brought
everything to the eyes of the fans via a live satellite feed as his date with
Erica went horribly wrong. After discovering that their wine had been replaced
with goat's blood, Gabriel Black and Erica also discovered they weren't alone
in the limosine. Chris Champlain knocked Gabriel unconscious and tormented
Erica until Gabriel Black revived just in time to save her from a knife attack
from Chris Champlain. But though it seemed as if the situation between Gabriel
Black and Chris Champlain couldn't get any more tense tonight, this wasn't the
last VCW would see of either of them tonight.
After the Torturer defeated Jeff Wright as planned, it was Falcon's turn
to face Brian Rivera. After stopping briefly for an encounter with Stacey
Lockman that's really best left unmentioned, Falcon came to the ring to do
battle with his former friend... and was quickly surprised, along with the rest
of the fans watching this match, by Brian Rivera's ability to keep up with
Falcon. Brian Rivera even seemed to be on his way to winning this match, before
his fate was sealed by interference from Rebecca Black and the Torturer, making
sure that both Annihilators went down in defeat to the Inquisition tonight.
The crowd barely had time to catch their breath from that match when
Gabriel Black showed up, ready to kill, and made a match for Chris Champlain
for the Big Fight. But as it seemed the show was over, Chris Champlain
inexplicably showed up, ready to fight, and the match was made then and there.
Blinded by anger and malice, Gabriel Black was outwrestled by Chris Champlain,
who seemed to enjoy taking him apart bit by bit. Gabriel Black survived a
Split-Legged Moonsault through a table, but Chris Champlain didn't even miss a
step in preparing for another one, only to be stopped by Lady Erica Whitmore.
Gabriel Black was disqualified, and the match was over, but the
brutality would still continue for a while. Bass Rogers, the Torturer, Rex
Richards, and Falcon came to the ring, and a five-on-one beating of Chris
Champlain commenced. Crimson ran to the ring, and nearly cleared it, but hit a
detour with Falcon, and those two brawled away from the ring. Chris Champlain
was still broken and incapacitated from the gang beating when Gabriel picked
him up to give him the newly-named Destiny Driver, but when Troy Black suddenly
appeared, Gabriel Black released Chris Champlain, forgetting about him
practically instantly, as if he saw only his brother. As the two brothers
stared at one another across the entrance ramp, the show was ended.
The Valentine's Day edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling was, rather
fittingly, one of the most emotionally-charged shows we've seen. Without a
doubt, the stakes have been raised exponentially in the coming match between
Gabriel Black and Chris Champlain... but what, if anything, are we to make of
Troy Black's reappearance? Doctors reports conclude that even though his injury
was fortunately a minor one, he still has at least six weeks of healing and
rehabilitation ahead of him before he can consider wrestling... but it only
took him seven days since his injury to make his presence felt again. Perhaps
he was there to stop Gabriel from injuring Chris Champlain as he was injured at
Wrestlewar, but who knows? All we can do at this point is guess.
Next week, VCW will take on the daunting task of attempting to top
tonight's show with another action-packed show. Crimson, Lance Errington,
Johnny Smiles, VCW Television Champion Rob Solomon, and many more VCW stars
will be present for next week's show. Make sure you're present as well; join us
next week for yet another exciting episode of VCW Monday Night Wrestling, and
don't miss a minute of the hottest wrestling competition around!!
