Match observations:

Only thirteen days remain until the Big Fight, and as the time before
the Big Fight decreases, it becomes clearer where everybody stands going into
the pay-per-view event. Much of the uncertainty caused when VCW was shaken up
by the events of Wrestlewar has now cleared, and once again many wrestlers are
pursuing a definite purpose. But on some levels, there is more uncertainty than
ever, as surprising and mysterious events continue to happen in VCW.
One of our first surprises was also one of our least interesting. Yoko
Fargo Moto returned to VCW, trying to tell Russel "The Muscle" Taylor about the
danger of his partner, the Super Giant Ninja, who is allegedly not fluent in
English, Japanese, or any other language. Unfortunately, the warning came
seconds too late, as the Super Giant Ninja suddenly attacked Russel "The
Muscle" Taylor for absolutely no reason, then dragged him into the ring. After
a few martial arts blows and a vicious kick to the head as the coup de grace
(not that the Super Giant Ninja has anything resembling grace), Russel Taylor
was laid out in the ring and defeated by his former partner. And nobody really
cares.
Is there dissention between Shane Douglas and VCW Commissioner James
Lockman already? It's well-known by now that Shane Douglas has a history of not
getting along with his employers, but their relationship suddenly became very
strained when Shane Douglas interrupted James Lockman's attempts to comfort his
traumatized daughter Stacey, only to be brushed off and quickly dismissed.
Shane Douglas did get his match with Lance Errington, but as we would discover
later on tonight as that match took place, that didn't work out so well for him
either.
That wasn't all that James Lockman was involved in tonight, however.
After a victory over Moy Lazzario, Virginia gave an intense speech stating her
intent to compete in the Big Fight battle royal. Unfortunately, fate (and VCW
Commissioner James Lockman) had a cruel twist involved, when Commissioner
Lockman withdrew her entry into the Big Fight to give her a match against
Rebecca Black, with the intent of punishing Rebecca Black and avenging Stacey
Lockman's degradation at her hands. James Lockman certainly isn't making
himself a very popular figure of authority in VCW... not only has he made
enemies of Lance Errington, Rebecca Black, and Shane Douglas, but now Virginia
as well has a reason to be furious with him.
The Immortals wrestled the Wrecking Crew in one-on-one competition
tonight, with each member of the Immortals taking on a member of the Wrecking
Crew. Robert Danson was quickly overpowered by Rock and defeated soundly, but
Blade had considerably greater trouble with Ken Collins, who took him to the
limit for nineteen minutes before finally defeating him in the center of the
ring, by submission to the California Crossface, no less. All that this really
proves is that the Immortals and the Wrecking Crew both have a tough match
ahead of them at the Big Fight, when they will collide as tag teams for the VCW
World Tag Team Titles.
The Annihilators, another of VCW's top tag teams, who lost a match
against the Wrecking Crew at Wrestlewar, are back on the track to success
again, if tonight is any indication. Emboldened by the Inquisition's victories
over Brian Rivera and Jeff Wright in singles competition two weeks ago, Bass
Rogers and Rex Richards decided to try to send them packing in style by
defeating them in tag team competition tonight. That didn't quite work out for
them, though, as the Annihilators showed them why they were the number-one
contenders to the VCW World Tag Team Titles at Wrestlewar by giving the two
Inquisition members a swift beating on the way to picking up a decisive victory
and reestablishing themselves as one of the top tag teams in VCW.
Speaking of tag teams, the two man team of Julian Page and Jacob Idol
has rapidly grown into a major force to be contended with. It was only a few
weeks ago that they were wrestling as an independent tag team... now, they have
joined with their friend, VCW Softcore Champion Neytron DelArmeggio, and a
surprise member, VCW Television Champion Rob Solomon, to create a formidable
force in VCW, in a match that saw Rob Solomon turn his back on Devaccio Pola,
and Neytron DelArmeggio try to cripple Devaccio Pola with SEVEN Piledrivers.
Amazingly, Devaccio Pola emerged without another serious neck injury, but to
see his former friend turn on him for the man who gave him his first serious
neck injury has to be a hard blow any way you look at it. However, he'll have a
hard time avenging this injury against this elite unit, dubbed "The Hammer of
the Gods" by Julian Page, who promised big things in the future for all of
them.
Lance Errington finally got a chance to avenge his loss to Shane Douglas
three weeks ago, and it was evident that he intended to fight with everything
he had to make sure that he was able to take advantage of it. Shane Douglas,
who seemed to be caught off-guard by Lance Errington's furious, yet precise
offense, nevertheless managed to fight back and put up a valiant struggle. When
it seemed as though Lance Errington was close to finishing the match, Steve
"Mongo" McMichael decided to help Shane Douglas as he did three weeks ago, only
to screw up and hit Shane Douglas instead (not that it mattered much in terms
of the official outcome, since the referee plainly saw it and would have
disqualified Douglas anyway had Mongo's plan worked). Lance Errington put on
the Scorpion Deathlock, and the rest was history. This is arguably the second
week in a row that Steve McMichael's bumbling has caused Shane Douglas to end
up on the losing side of a match... it wouldn't be surprising to see a rift
develop between these two men very, very soon.
The Inquisition did just as Gabriel Black had said they would do in the
beginning of the show tonight... they proved that, three-on-three, they can
defeat David Wright Hubbard, Crimson, and Chris Champlain. Admittedly, Chris
Champlain isn't exactly a team player, and the Inquisition's opponents weren't
very strong when it came to teamwork... but what truly made the difference was
a wooden axe handle shot from the Torturer, followed by a misguided chair shot
from David Wright Hubbard, both to the head of Chris Champlain. The Inquisition
won the match thus, but the real story is what took place after the match was
over.
The brawl that erupted after the match took Crimson, Falcon, David
Wright Hubbard, and the Torturer away from the ring area, leaving Gabriel Black
and Lady Erica Whitmore alone with the weakened Chris Champlain, who was unable
to defend himself as Gabriel Black attacked him viciously with a chair, then
prepared to give him the Destiny Driver onto the steel chair. But, as had
happened two weeks before, Troy Black appeared from the backstage area, staring
down his brother Gabriel. This time, Gabriel Black moved to confront his
brother. After a few words were spoken between the two men that were unheard by
any fans, Troy Black let his actions speak for themselves when he kicked Gabriel
Black in the midsection, then laid him out on the entrance ramp with a double
arm DDT. The show ended on that note, but one thing was revealed... Troy Black
has no hesitation in entering into a violent confrontation with his brother,
even while still recovering from the neck injury he sustained at that brother's
hands.
Many questions remain unanswered. Will James Lockman's political plays
strengthen his control of VCW, or will they blow up in his face? What will
Devaccio Pola do, alone and facing four of VCW's best wrestlers? What was said
between Troy and Gabriel Black, and why is Troy showing up just as Gabriel
Black prepares to execute the Destiny Driver, the move that injured his neck?
Hopefully in the coming weeks we can come to understand some of the events in
VCW better.
Next week's show, the final show before the Big Fight determines who
goes on to face the VCW World Champion at Blood and Thunder, should be full of
action and answers to some of our questions. In addition, many other VCW stars
will be present and in action next week, including Johnny Smiles, Hell's
Bikers, the Technicians, and many more. You won't want to miss the final
episode of VCW Monday Night Wrestling before the Big Fight, so make sure you
join us next Monday for all the great wrestling action!
