Match observations:
Wow! Were it not for his totally one-sided and unfair matchmaking, we
should get Gabriel Black to book all VCW shows! In spite of his blatant bias
against the enemies of the Inquisition, booking them in hideously unfair
matches, Gabriel Black put together one of the biggest, most exciting editions
of VCW Monday Night Wrestling we've ever seen. To say the least, he certainly
made the most of his somewhat ill-gotten Random Casualties victory.
First and foremost in the list of Gabriel's big surprises was the
revelation that Troy Black has joined the Inquisition. After he interfered in
David Wright Hubbard's match against Gabriel Black last night, there was
certainly speculation of that nature, but many people couldn't imagine Troy
Black joining the Inquisition until they saw it in person. After having lost
the Torturer to internal strife and a subsequent neck injury at the hands of
Gabriel Black, the Inquisition is definitely back at full power with the
addition of Troy Black.
Gabriel would follow that announcement up with a surprise that was, if
anything, even more shocking: Melissa DelArmeggio. Unfortunately for Gabriel,
her actions were a surprise to everyone, even him, as she proceeded to berate
both Gabriel and Troy, before spitting in Gabriel's face and dropping him with
a punch to the side of the face. Troy Black prevented the mauling at the hands
of the Inquisition that was inevitably going to come after that attack, but
made it clear that he never wants to see Melissa back in VCW again. After
another verbal tirade, Melissa left, possibly for the last time. Could we see
her back in VCW again? Or is she really gone for good this time?
After that LONG interview in the beginning (25% longer than the
interview that previously held the record for longest interview), we finally
got to see some of the fruits of Gabriel Black's booking, as the Middle-Aged
Outlaws faced DeJohnnyration X. But before the match, the Middle-Aged Outlaws
voiced their objections to being considered "comedy wrestlers" (in what was
ironically one of the funniest segments of the night), and Hunk Higgins threw
down a challenge to Gabriel Black. While Gabriel Black has yet to answer an
earlier challenge from Hunk Higgins last year, one has to wonder, does this
challenge to what would probably be the most lopsided match in VCW history even
deserve a response? Considering that the Middle-Aged Outlaws were defeated in
short order by DeJohnnyration X, it might not.
The other two members of DeJohnnyration X, the Immortals, were next up,
facing Bass Rogers and Moy Lazzario, who evidently wanted some revenge for last
week's events when the Immortals interrupted an Inquisition beating of the
Wrecking Crew. They didn't get their revenge within the confines of the match,
as Ken Collins pulled out a victory against Bass Rogers with a small package.
But what happened after the match is a different story; Bass Rogers pushed Ken
Collins off of one of the top turnbuckles, causing him to fall to the floor and
take a sickening bump on the steel guardrail. Robert Danson fared no better, as
he was beaten down by both members of the Inquisition without Ken Collins to
even the odds. Fortunately, at least Nicole had the good sense to stay out of
this situation. The Inquisition lost the match, but won the post-match brawl
tonight... but is this the end, or just the beginning of a larger feud between
the two teams?
The Annihilators were obviously excited over the return of fellow
Liberation X member Melissa DelArmeggio tonight, and weren't really focused on
their handicap match with Hell's Bikers and Dick Douglas. In spite of that,
they won the match rather easily, putting Dick Douglas away with Jeff Wright's
Tiger Driver. Maybe putting Dick Douglas in the ring wasn't such a good idea...
he's been doing well in the VCW Power Plant and shows a lot of potential, but
he isn't yet in the same league as the Annihilators. Perhaps Hell's Bikers
would have fared better without their manager in the ring.
Gabriel Black's plan to have Chris Champlain taken out by Jacob Idol and
Rob Solomon the Hammer of the Gods didn't work so well. Chris Champlain held
his own in the match for a minute or so before pulling out a hunting knife and
slicing open Rob Solomon's forehead. Understandably, Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon
decided to get the hell out of there, and Chris Champlain walked away
unscathed after ranting and raving to Gabriel Black, making it clear that their
feud isn't over by a long shot.
Neytron DelArmeggio, another member of the Hammer of the Gods, was able
to gain a return favor from Gabriel Black tonight; he was given a Softcore
Title rematch against Devaccio Pola, who he had given a minor concussion last
night with two Piledrivers on the concrete floor in a hallway. Of course, even
with this injury, Devaccio Pola didn't have the good sense to stay away from
the fight, and he eagerly came out to defend the Softcore Title. With Devaccio
Pola in a weakened state, Neytron DelArmeggio was able to once again emerge
victorious against him and reclaim the VCW Softcore Title. Neytron is now a
two-time holder of a title belt that means marginally less than the WCW
International World Title.
After the events at the beginning of the show, it was obvious that Troy
Black was in a bad mood; Crimson may have sealed his fate when he threatened to
wipe out the entire Black family before his handicap match against Rex Richards
and the Manhunters. Amazingly, even against three men, Crimson dominated the
match until Troy Black came to the ring and laid him out with a chair and the
help of his three fellow Inquisition members. The match itself was the worst
non-T & A match in recent VCW memory, but the attack after the match may be the
beginning of what could be an earth-shaking feud between Troy Black and
Crimson. Both of them have a reputation for being virtually unstoppable... if
that match was to take place, it would probably be the biggest challenge in
either man's career.
After that match, Falcon and Troy Black went on to challenge the
Wrecking Crew for the VCW World Tag Team Titles. The Wrecking Crew continued to
demonstrate the same explosive power and speed that have allowed them to
dominate VCW for the past nine months, but against the likes of Troy Black and
Falcon even they couldn't pull out the victory tonight. Troy Black and Falcon
won the VCW World Tag Team Titles, but Troy Black didn't even seem content with
that; he had to lay out both members of the Wrecking Crew before leaving the
ring.
The main event of the evening was made thanks to a special request by
Lady Erica Whitmore, who asked Gabriel Black to put the VCW World Title on the
line against Lance Errington tonight. Lance Errington promised a victory
tonight, and amazingly, he delivered, albeit without winning the title. After
the referee went down, Lady Erica Whitmore made a laughably clumsy attempt to
hit Lance Errington with the VCW World Title, only to hit Gabriel Black with it
instead. Lance quickly disposed of Erica and put Gabriel Black in the Scorpion
Deathlock, and seemed to be on the verge of winning the VCW World Title before
Falcon attacked him and gave him the disqualification victory.
After the match, Gabriel Black tried to give Lance Errington the Destiny
Driver, but was stopped for whatever reason by Lady Erica Whitmore. That was
evidently the last straw for Gabriel Black, who slapped her out of the way...
but Lance Errington was able to escape in the chaos. A brawl then nearly broke
out between Gabriel and Falcon when Falcon stepped in to protect Erica from
Gabriel's wrath. Thanks to Erica, Gabriel Black lost the match and nearly the
VCW World Title, and there now seems to be a rift developing between Gabriel
Black and Falcon as a result. Will it all blow over, or have fatal cracks
developed in the Inquisition during what should have been their finest hour?
Next week, the old order returns to power, and Gabriel Black's one-day
reign of terror comes to an end. VCW Commissioner James Lockman will be there
for the first time since the pay-per-view, and many other top VCW stars such as
Chris Champlain, VCW World Tag Team Champions Falcon and Troy Black, and VCW
World Champion Gabriel Black will all be there. Don't miss a second of the
exciting VCW action next week on VCW Monday Night Wrestling!
