Match observations:
As the last VCW show before Gang Wars, tonight was especially important
for many VCW wrestlers, as they struggled to get the last words or blows in
before the pay-per-view. Some of VCW's top stars took tonight off to rest up
from a grueling recent schedule and get ready for Gang Wars; others decided to
continue their battles in the hopes of gaining an upper hand over the opponent.
But regardless of those situations, the heat between the various factions in
VCW has built up to a boiling point, and it's a good bet that we'll see some
important scores settled at Gang Wars.
One set of issues, strangely enough, had to be settled before Gang Wars.
The less-than-epic feud between the Super Giant Ninja and Russel "The Muscle"
Taylor came to a head today in a two-out-of-three falls match, which lasted
under two minutes anyway, fortunately for the fans who had to watch it. This
match came about by the order of VCW Commissioner James Lockman, who wants
Russel Taylor and the Super Giant Ninja to reform their less-than-successful
tag team for a match against Dave Adams and Main Street Pete at Gang Wars. Will
the Super Giant Ninja and Russel "The Muscle" Taylor be able to coexist at Gang
Wars? Does it even matter? Probably not.
Speaking of things that probably don't matter, the feud between the Rich
Guys' Club and the Young Blood in VCW continues, with an added stipulation that
makes their four-on-four elimination match at Gang Wars that much more
appealing. Everyone who is eliminated from that match must never work in VCW
again. This could be a great chance for VCW to be rid of most of these
jackasses once and for all, and in the minds of most fans, it can't come too
soon.
In the absence of Troy Black and Falcon, Moy Lazzario and Rex Richards
joined forces to represent their half of the Inquisition against the Hammer of
the Gods tonight. They had problems even before the match started, with Rex
Richards wanting to relax and Moy Lazzario wanting to prepare for the match.
Once they got into the match, things didn't improve one bit; the Hammer of the
Gods outwrestled and defeated them. This doesn't bode well for their match at
Gang Wars, where they'll team up with Troy Black and Falcon to face VCW World
Champion Gabriel Black, VCW World Tag Team Champions the Manhunters, and Bass
Rogers.
Speaking of Bass Rogers, he wasn't exactly successful tonight either.
After Johnny Smiles barged into a booking meeting to confront James Lockman, he
found himself booked into a match with Bass Rogers as a punishment. But Johnny
managed to turn this negative into a positive, catching Bass Rogers in a small
package for a victory, and escaping the severe beating that James Lockman would
have liked to see him take before the System meets DeJohnnyration X at Gang
Wars.
The Immortals, two other members of DeJohnnyration X, were also
successful tonight, earning a big victory in a triangle match against Jack
Norman and Butch Manson of Hell's Bikers and the Wrecking Crew. Because of this
victory, they will now face Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Arthur Justice next
Monday by order of James Lockman. If they win, they will become the undisputed
number-one contenders to the VCW World Tag Team Titles. At the same time, they
can't look past Gang Wars, when all four members of DeJohnnyration X will face
the System in an elimination match. So far, DeJohnnyration X has defied the
odds and achieved some success while going against the System, but it seems
like only a matter of time before their luck runs out at this point.
Taking exception to Julian Page's quick, arguably undeserved success in
VCW, Lance Errington came to the ring to challenge him to a non-title match
tonight. Julian Page accepted, and swore on the honor of his Canadian fans that
nobody would interfere in this match. Of course, that promise was as false as
Julian Page's claims of being a national hero in Canada; Rob Solomon nailed
Lance Errington with his hockey stick to break up the Scorpion Deathlock and
give Julian Page yet another ill-gotten victory. Lance Errington will join
forces with the Technicians and Devaccio Pola to take on the Hammer of the Gods
at Gang Wars... perhaps he can gain a measure of revenge at that point.
Earlier in the show, Devaccio Pola confirmed what everybody already
knew: that he's completely crazy. In retaliation for an unprovoked attack by
Crimson four weeks ago, he challenged Crimson to a match tonight. Crimson
accepted without hesitation, and the match took place. Unfortunately for
Devaccio Pola, the results were about what you'd expect from this kind of a
confrontation. Crimson mauled him like a rabid bear and left him as a crumpled
mass in the ring, picking up another victory and adding another victim to the
body count of the Homicide Road Tour. Crimson seems to be unstoppable, but
David Wright Hubbard, the Wrecking Crew, and the Annihilators would love to
prove that wrong when they take on all four members of Hell's Bikers and a
mystery partner at Gang Wars.
All in all, this is looking to be a huge pay-per-view event, and without
a doubt an improvement over last year's somewhat lackluster showing at Gang
Wars. All of VCW's top stars will be uniting to settle deep-rooted rivalries
and issues in a mere six days. Make sure you join us, and don't miss out on the
action and excitement you've come to expect from VCW! Don't miss Gang Wars!!
