Match observations:
One night removed from Gang Wars, and we're off on the road to Blood and
Thunder. Tonight was full of surprises, including the mention of a talent
exchange and the return of two injured VCW personalities to more or less "full-
time" action. Whether administering brutal beatings, making heated challenges,
or weaving intricate plans for the coming weeks, it seemed like everyone in VCW
had business to take care of tonight.
David Wright Hubbard killed two birds with one stone in furthering his
rivalry with Crimson and Hell's Bikers... he demolished Dick Douglas in a
matter of seconds, then went on to throw down a challenge to "Macho Man" Randy
Savage for a match at Blood and Thunder. Randy Savage has yet to respond, but
this match could easily be a great classic between one of VCW's most intense
and powerful men, and a seasoned veteran who can still keep up with the younger
talent in the ring.
Tonight we also found out that the System's battle with DeJohnnyration X
is far from over. Virginia refused to accept VCW contractual releases on behalf
of DeJohnnyration X, and as a result was booked in a match with Crimson. Not
only did she lose the match in a big way, but Crimson brutalized her just for
fun, drilling her into the mat with three Chokeslams before mercifully ending
the match. Unfortunately, the damage was already done... Virginia suffered a
broken finger from Crimson's sadistic mauling, and is expected to be out of
action for a good month or so healing it and rehabilitating from the injury.
The DeJohnnyration X battle against the System wasn't done yet, however.
The Immortals evened the score by defeating Arthur Justice and Steve "Mongo"
McMichael to become the number-one contenders to the VCW World Titles. However,
James Lockman has already set yet another obstacle in their path when they
challenge for the titles next week, in two "warm-up matches" against members of
the the Hammer of the Gods and Hell's Bikers. After two hard-fought matches
like these, it's hard to see how the Immortals can hope to overcome the
Manhunters to win the VCW World Tag Team Titles next week.
The feud between the Hammer of the Gods and the Technicians took another
turn tonight, one that has been long awaited by many fans. It started when
Neytron DelArmeggio knocked out Tim Bell outside of the ring during the opening
match, causing the Technicians to lose to Dave Adams and Main Street Pete via
countout. Later on, the Technicians returned the favor when the Hammer of the
Gods seemed intent on beating Devaccio Pola half to death, but it didn't seem
to be enough; Tim Bell, Paul Canyon, and Jennie all fell to the Hammer of the
Gods. It seemed hopeless for a moment, but then Owen Addison ripped the sling
off of his right arm and charged the ring, then single-handedly cleaned house
and ran the three members of the Hammer of the Gods off. He followed that up
with a challenge to the former leader of the Technicians, Jacob Idol, to a
match at Blood and Thunder. It would appear that Owen Addison is ready for
action again, and many fans can hardly await his return to the ring.
The woman who attacked Jennie and Jasmina Ecstacy after the Dirty Slut
Scaffold Match revealed her name, identity, and intent tonight. She is
Christina Ellis, a women's professional wrestler who has made quite a name for
herself overseas in Japan. She stated that she has come to VCW with the intent
of restoring dignity to American women's wrestling, and abolishing the VCW T &
A Title once and for all. Naturally, with views like these, it isn't surprising
that the VCW fans aren't exactly fond of her. She has raised a good point,
however; many of the women in the VCW T & A Division aren't exactly top-notch
mat technicians or wrestlers. Christina Ellis, with a strong background in
"legitimate" wrestling, could have a great deal of success against them.
Perhaps Brian Rivera was kicked in the head one too many times by
Crimson last night. Whatever the case, he wasn't his usual self tonight when
Jeff Wright came to tell him about their match against the Manhunters. The
Annihilators have always taken a certain amount of pride in their "white trash"
tough guy backgrounds, but Brian Rivera seems to be taking it to an absurd
level. Is he doing this as part of a bizarre joke or gimmick, or has he really
discovered an affinity for Jerry Springer and sour cream and salsa flavored
pork rinds? Whatever the case, he hasn't improved terribly in the wrestling
department; the Annihilators lost their non-title match to the Manhunters
tonight.
The Inquisition seemed to have something to prove tonight, going into
three big one-on-one matches so soon after last night's pay-per-view. Perhaps
they want to demonstrate that they are still as dominant as the Inquisition of
old. Bass Rogers, in particular, wanted to demonstrate tonight that his quick
loss to Troy Black was a fluke last night, by meeting Troy Black in one-on-one
competition. Unfortunately for him, that didn't work out so well, as Troy Black
devestated Bass Rogers in under a minute, after promising an end to Gabriel
Black's title reign at Blood and Thunder. Considering Troy Black's record these
days, Gabriel Black may be facing the biggest threat to his title reign yet.
Following tonight's events, Rex Richards has left for Japan on a VCW
talent exchange, in which VCW will receive the services of former Super Japan
Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Jiro Tobikuma (boy, SJPW got the raw end of
the deal on this exchange!). But Falcon wanted to make sure to get a match with
Rex Richards, who caused him to be eliminated at Gang Wars. Falcon dominated
the match, as expected, and blasted Rex Richards with a Superkick, on his way
to another victory. But then Rebecca Black made her return, nailing Falcon with
a chair, then putting him in the Blackout. With a little subdual help from Rex
Richards, Rebecca choked Falcon out, then proceeded to whack him in the groin
repeatedly with a baseball bat (ouch), avenging his lack of loyalty to her
brother Gabriel. At any rate, it's a safe bet that their relationship as lovers
is over.
After that, Gabriel Black put the VCW World Title on the line against a
man who has been his ally in recent weeks, Julian Page. Both men wrestled a
great match, with Julian Page showing masterful skill far beyond his years, and
Gabriel Black matching and even exceeding it on many occasions. In the end,
Julian Page's DDT wasn't enough to keep Gabriel Black down, and when he tried
for a second one, he was caught in a Northern Lights suplex for the pin. Julian
Page is still both the VCW Intercontinental Champion and the VCW Television
Champion, but Gabriel Black is still the VCW World Champion, and has proven
once again that he is a true master in the ring. It remains to be seen whether
he can fend off the return challenge from his brother Troy, but it's hard to
imagine him losing; after all, he never has before.
Next week's show should also be a good one. We don't know much about the
card... what we do know is that the Immortals will wrestle three different
times, with the final match being for the VCW World Tag Team Titles. In
addition, many top VCW stars such as Randy Savage, Johnny Smiles, the Wrecking
Crew, and Lance Errington are expected to be present. You won't want to miss
our next exciting, action-packed show. Join us next week for the next episode
of VCW Monday Night Wrestling!!
