Match observations:

Congratulations are in order to Dave Moon and VCW superstar Melissa
DelArmeggio for their impressive victories at the San Francisco Tennis
Invitational tournament last week. But tonight, one week later, many VCW
wrestlers were pretty impressive in their own right. Blood and Thunder is only
about three weeks away now, and tension is starting to settle over VCW, with
nobody knowing quite what to expect. The events that took place earlier this
year at other important shows and pay-per-views have led to a delicate balance
going into Blood and Thunder, and no matter which VCW stars emerge victorious,
VCW will probably see some drastic changes from the results of Blood and
Thunder.
"Macho Man" Randy Savage is all set to take on David Wright Hubbard, and
he didn't mind telling us so tonight. Unfortunately, Russel "The Muscle" Taylor
unwittingly led himself to slaughter by challenging Savage tonight. Just as
everybody expected, Randy Savage destroyed Russel Taylor in just over a minute.
While it's been proven before that anything can happen in VCW, Russel Taylor's
infinitely small odds of defeating a legend like Randy Savage failed to come
through tonight.
More of the same followed that match, as Bass Rogers, a veteran in the
process of building his own legend, defeated the relatively inexperienced Main
Street Pete in singles competition. Shortly later, his Inquisition teammates,
the Manhunters, were also victorious against the Middle-Aged Outlaws. After all
the turmoil and the defections of several important members, this could be what
the Inquisition needs if they are to survive past Blood and Thunder: decisive,
stable victories and a continuing winning presence in VCW. Perhaps they need to
take down the high standards that were set for them and recover for a time.
"Doctor" Dave Adams didn't fare any better than his tag team partner
tonight; he was outwrestled for five straight minutes by Paul Canyon, whose
experience and ability really showed tonight. But rather than take the
impending loss like a man, he escaped with a disqualification when Nurse
Vivacia entered the ring and hit Paul Canyon with a low blow. As a result of
that, Jennie jumped into the ring and attacked Nurse Vivacia, eventually taking
her down despite some initial difficulty. Could this be a sign of an impending
feud between Jennie and Nurse Vivacia?
Tonight, the dreaded rotator cuff injury reared its head in VCW for a
third time this year, as Tim Bell's rotator cuff was torn when he took the bump
from Jiro Tobikuma's devestating tiger driver unsafely with his left arm.
Neytron DelArmeggio, who had obviously intended to run to the ring and attack
Tim Bell, decided to improvise and attack Jiro instead, laying him out with a
chairshot, followed by a Piledriver on the chair. But Neytron remained in the
ring too long, going on and on about Stacey Lockman's merits and respect for
wrestling, allowing Jiro Tobikuma to recover and avenge the attack with a
chairshot of his own, followed by a nasty Fisherman Buster on the chair.
Neytron hasn't endeared himself one bit to our guest from Super Japan Pro
Wrestling so far, and it looks like a feud could be brewing between the two as
we speak.
Jacob Idol not only came forward to accept Owen Addison's challenge for
a match at Blood and Thunder, he also offered two challenges to Devaccio Pola.
One of those challenges was to make a match tonight, in which Jacob Idol was
defeated, but the other challenge was to a Death Match at Blood and Thunder
against Rob Solomon, in which a wrestler must score three consecutive victories
over his opponent in order to win. This could very well be the climax to the
feud between Devaccio Pola and Rob Solomon; nothing quite proves one wrestler's
superiority over another like three consecutive victories over his opponent.
In addition to granting his "boy" Steve "Mongo" McMichael a shot at both
of Julian Page's titles tonight (which he lost), VCW Commissioner James Lockman
has also made a very intriguing match with very high stakes surrounding it,
between himself and Virginia at Blood and Thunder. If Virginia wins, she
becomes the new VCW Commissioner and Lockman has to step down... but if Jimmy
Lockman wins, Virginia will be stripped naked, have her head shaved, and be
forced to sit out the rest of her contract (admittedly only about five months)
with half pay. Unfortunately for Virginia, it turns out that Tattoo is going to
be the referee for this match. With that stupulation, it looks like we may see
Virginia, bald-headed and naked, for the last time at Blood and Thunder. Jimmy
Lockman has a very strong record when it comes to making examples out of
headstrong wrestlers who oppose him... just ask Richard Tobian.
Julian Page did more tonight than defend his titles against Steve
"Mongo" McMichael. He also accepted Lance Errington's challenge for one or both
of his titles in a rather unusual fashion, by accepting two title matches at
Blood and Thunder, one for each title. With both titles on the line, Lance
Errington has a golden opportunity at Blood and Thunder... but knowing Julian
Page's luck and cheating tactics, he'll have to be on guard for anything in
order to take advantage of it.
Two weeks after challenging Crimson to a match at Blood and Thunder,
Johnny Smiles rather wisely decided to take the week off. But despite Johnny's
absence, there wasn't any shortage of people on Crimson's hit list for the
Homicide Road Tour this week. Tonight, he picked Troy Black, David Wright
Hubbard, and the Annihilators for a four-on-four match with Hell's Bikers.
Despite some silliness from Brian Rivera, the four accepted, and emerged
victorious as well, after Troy Black picked up a victory over Jack Norman.
Earlier in the evening, Gabriel Black issued a determined challenge to
Falcon to accept a VCW World Title match tonight, intending to make an example
of him. However, in the usual Inquisition fashion, Rebecca Black and the
Manhunters brutalized Falcon and Lady Erica Whitmore in their locker room,
leaving Falcon with a badly injured arm. After learning a lesson from Owen
Addison's experience, Falcon was smart enough not to step into the ring with
Gabriel Black tonight, instead opting to attempt to gain a measure of revenge
on his attacker and ex-girlfriend, Rebecca Black.
Despite wisely avoiding Gabriel Black, Falcon didn't avoid a humiliating
loss tonight to Rebecca Black. With a little interference from Gabriel, she
defeated Falcon in the middle of the ring. Rebecca and Gabriel obviously
planned to injure more than Falcon's pride after the match, continuing the
attack on his arm. But the true story came when the Annihilators ran to the
ring with chairs and chased them away, then presented Falcon with a Liberation
X T-shirt, which he accepted. Could we be seeing a Liberation X reunion,
despite the past between the Annihilators and Falcon, and the current
dissention in the Annihilators? As unlikely as it seems, it's hard to interpret
tonight's events any other way.
Next week, things are expected to heat up even more as VCW continues to
head closer to Blood and Thunder. Many top VCW stars, such as Johnny Smiles,
the Wrecking Crew, VCW World Tag Team Champions the Immortals, and VCW World
Champion Gabriel Black will be present and in action. Don't miss a minute of
this and much, much more from the greatest wrestling promotion on earth! Don't
even think about missing next week's edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling!!
