Match observations:

VCW Monday Night Wrestling opened today on a sad note, as we stopped to
acknowledge the death of Gordon Solie, arguably the best wrestling announcer in
the history of the sport, who passed away several days ago due to cancer. His
memory was honored with a ten-bell salute at the opening of the show. He will
be missed by all wrestling fans who remember hearing him call a match or
conduct an interview.
Though the show began on a somber note, it didn't remain that way.
Tonight was the final edition of VCW Monday Night Wrestling before Blood and
Thunder, and every wrestler present knew that this was the last chance they
would have to get in final blows before the decisive matches at the pay-per-
view affected their future careers and standing in VCW for better or for worse.
Whether they just wanted to intimidate their opposition or soften them up for
the pay-per-view, most people came to the arena tonight with a definite agenda.
Crimson's plan for the evening was two-fold. Not only did he send "Macho
Man" Randy Savage to soften up Johnny Smiles, he also intended to make a show
of force by destroying two opponents at once. Those opponents, Dave Adams and
Main Street Pete, were unable to compete with Crimson despite superior numbers,
and quickly fell to him. However, it was discovered tonight that there is at
least one person who can hurt Crimson, and that's Crimson himself. In the
course of kicking Dave Adams in the head, Crimson twisted the leg he was
standing on, wrenching his knee badly. As a result, he's expected to be out of
action until December... but amazingly, he still intends to compete in his
match with Johnny Smiles at Blood and Thunder. Needless to say, this is an
overwhelming advantage for Johnny, and may end up being his key to victory, if
he can capitalize on Crimson's wounded state. On the other hand, his decisive
loss to Randy Savage tonight doesn't make the situation look any brighter.
In an extremely strange move, VCW Commissioner James Lockman booked
Virginia to compete against his daughter, Stacey, tonight. Stacey couldn't
believe it, and ran to Neytron for help, but that help ultimately proved
meaningless when Virginia destroyed Stacey anyway. But those who were naive
enough to think that James Lockman didn't have a plan found out differently
when Arthur Justice distracted the referee, and Neytron DelArmeggio laid
Virginia out with a chairshot and the Piledriver. Stacey won the match,
defeating Virginia handily, and this has to be seen as quite a bad omen for
Virginia, going into her match against Jimmy Lockman at Blood and Thunder. It's
looking less and less likely that she'll replace James Lockman as VCW
Commissioner, and more likely that she'll be run out of VCW, bald-headed and
naked.
This wasn't the only match Neytron DelArmeggio interfered in; he also
jumped Jiro Tobikuma, just when it appeared that he might win the VCW
Intercontinental Title and VCW Television Title from Julian Page. He will face
Paul Canyon and Jiro Tobikuma at Blood and Thunder, and by getting the jump on
Jiro Tobikuma tonight, he may have softened him up for the kill at the pay-per-
view. Oddly enough, Neytron didn't fare so well in the one match that he was
supposed to be a legitimate participant in, as he was defeated by Lance
Errington tonight. Jacob Idol of the Hammer of the Gods also fared poorly,
losing to David Wright Hubbard tonight.
Christina Ellis returned tonight, once again coming forward to denounce
American women's wrestling and specifically the VCW T & A Division. Apart from
raising issues of morality and the dignity of women, she promised to show VCW
an example of real women's wrestling at Blood and Thunder, despite the fact
that her challenge to any woman in VCW has gone unanswered. One has to wonder
what she has planned, both for Blood and Thunder and the weeks after. One
thing's for certain, however; her opinions and attitudes towards the VCW T & A
Division aren't earning her many fans.
Speaking of women's wrestling in VCW, there was a second women's match
tonight. Rebecca Black claimed to reveal to everyone that Lady Erica Whitmore
was, in reality, working with the Inquisition the whole time. When confronted
about it by the rest of Liberation X, Lady Erica Whitmore denied it. But when
Falcon remained doubtful, she decided to step forward and wrestle Rebecca Black
tonight. While she put up a better fight than expected, the difference between
a born fighter and second-generation wrestler and a spoiled heiress in the ring
was evident tonight, as Rebecca Black defeated Erica in short order. But when
Rebecca tried to do more damage, the other members of Liberation X chased her
away. It would seem that trust is reestablished among them... but should it be?
It would be entirely too fitting with events that have taken place in the past
for one of them to turn to the Inquisition. Both Falcon and Erica have a
history of turning on friends, and Brian Rivera's strange behavior has raised a
few eyebrows as well. Perhaps the newfound confidence in Liberation X is
misplaced.
Gabriel Black's confidence in his ability to defeat his brother Troy
tonight in the four-on-four tag team match tonight wasn't misplaced; he did
exactly as he had promised, defeating Troy Black in the middle of the ring.
This time, instead of dropping him on his head to take advantage of the injured
neck, he outwrestled him, catching him in a small package out of nowhere for
the surprise victory. This doesn't look good for Troy Black's chances at Blood
and Thunder, despite his assurances that he will, in fact, do what has never
been done before and defeat his brother. Blood and Thunder could be the
beginning of a new era in VCW... or a sign that the old era is far from ending.
The time for talking and preparations is over. In only six short days,
VCW's most ground-breaking pay-per-view event since Wrestlewar will shake the
foundations of the wrestling world. The futures of many, many wrestlers, the
very control of VCW, and the continuation of the longest World Title reign in
over fifteen years all come into question in six days when all hell breaks
loose in VCW, and Blood and Thunder arrives. You won't want to miss this
historic pay-per-view event; make sure you join us for Blood and Thunder!!
