Match observations:
The first round of the Survival of the Fittest Tournament is done, and
we now know the elite eight who will be competing in the second round, four of
whom will go on to compete in the semifinals and finals on pay-per-view. But
that's hardly the extent of what we found out about the Survival of the Fittest
pay-per-view event, with challenges for new matches being extended and accepted
in multitudes tonight.
"Pretty Boy" Jimmy Lockman may have started that trend by not only
throwing out the challenge that resulted in one of the biggest matches of the
evening, a six man match featuring the Manhunters and himself against
DeJohnnyration X, but also making a bold move and accepting Tattoo's challenge
from earlier weeks to a match at Survival of the Fittest. Jimmy Lockman has
shown the ability to cut larger foes down to size with his superior wrestling
knowledge in the past, but can he do it now against Tattoo? He certainly
doesn't seem to lack any confidence. But then again, he never did.
After beating Russel "The Muscle" Taylor and the Super Giant Ninja yet
again, "Doctor" Dave Adams and Nurse Vivacia found themselves unable to relax
backstage when the Middle-Aged Outlaws, Hunk Higgins and Ruby Richard Cage,
came around to flirt with Vivacia. Unfortunately for the Middle-Aged Outlaws,
they were caught in the act by Dave Adams, and took a beating and a face full
of frosted cake for their troubles. The Middle-Aged Outlaws seemed to have
revenge on their mind, but not as a top priority... first, they wanted to get
some of the cake from the catering area to eat.
After taking a beating from Devaccio Pola last week, Dick Douglas
returned to take revenge tonight, by costing Devaccio Pola his Survival of the
Fittest Tournament match against Julian Page. Obviously, Devaccio Pola isn't
going to take this lying down, but after losing decisively last week, one must
wonder why Dick Douglas would choose to extend their feud. Does he have a plan
to change the outcome of their next match, or did he just not learn his lesson
this time? Knowing that Dick Douglas tends to be the craftiest, sneakiest
member of Hell's Bikers, the first option seems the most likely.
Though his partner, Paul Canyon, failed to overcome the underhanded
tactics of Moy Lazzario and Steve McMichael earlier in the show, Owen Addison
earned a strong symbolic victory for the Technicians as well as a literal one
when he defeated Jiro Tobikuma, the man who put their fellow Technician Tim
Bell out of action with a tiger driver. But that wasn't all Owen had on his
mind tonight; after the match, he challenged Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon from
the Hammer of the Gods to meet the Ontario Color Show in a tag team match at
Survival of the Fittest. After the intense rivalry that has existed between the
Technicians and the Hammer of the Gods for some time now, this match should be
a major battle in that ongoing feud.
Despite the plans of Steve McMichael and Moy Lazzario paying off earlier
when Moy Lazzario defeated Paul Canyon, they were put to a stop when Virginia
exercised her authority as one of VCW's dual commissioners and sent Moy
Lazzario out of the building after catching them plotting against her. As a
result, her tournament match against Steve McMichael, the final match of the
first round of the Survival of the Fittest Tournament, had no interference
involved, allowing Virginia to earn the victory. With the entire first round
played out, the Survival of the Fittest Tournament now looks like this:

Falcon seems to have taken great exception to Neytron DelArmeggio's
actions last week, nailing Lady Erica Whitmore with a Piledriver on the
concrete floor, but he didn't get a chance to speak his mind very much before
Bass Rogers interrupted, stating that he had a problem with Falcon himself.
Blaming Falcon and the Annihilators for the breakup of the Inquisition and his
corresponding loss in pay, Bass Rogers challenged Falcon to face him tonight,
and the Annihilators to face him and a mystery partner at Survival of the
Fittest. Bass Rogers was defeated tonight by Falcon... perhaps he'll fare
better against the Annihilators, but that will depend a lot on how well the
Annihilators can function as a team, and who the mystery partner is.
After dominating every match in the T & A Division that she's been in,
Christina Ellis now plans to challenge Jennie for the VCW T & A Title at
Survival of the Fittest, claiming that if she wins, she'll make the title a
legitimate wrestling title. Jennie hasn't backed down from any challenges to
her title yet, and of all of the women competing in the T & A Division, she's
perhaps the one most likely to be able to match Christina Ellis somewhat in
terms of skill and athleticism. All the same, considering Christina Ellis's
background in wrestling in Japan, Jennie's chances of retaining the title would
appear to be slim to none if she accepts this match.
The tag team contendership issue between Hell's Bikers and the Wrecking
Crew may have been settled by default tonight in the six man tag team match
that was tonight's main event. The Wrecking Crew were on the winning team, as
their partner, VCW World Champion Troy Black, brought home the victory by
destroying Dick Douglas. But unfortunately, the rough, heavy offense of Hell's
Bikers took its toll on Blade of the Wrecking Crew, dislocating his hip and
putting him out of action for three months. This looks like it means that
Hell's Bikers will be number-one contenders for the VCW World Tag Team Titles
by default, but nothing is known for certain yet.
Troy Black was busy tonight; not only did he compete in (and win) the
aforementioned match, he also accepted Tony Garcia's challenge to meet in an
Iron Cage Axe Handle Match at Survival of the Fittest, with the VCW World Title
and Melissa DelArmeggio's contract on the line. Stacey Lockman was skeptical
about this, and she wasn't the only one; Gabriel Black and Tony Garcia
expressed their feelings on the situation in a tape sent in from the deserts,
and they both feel that after Survival of the Fittest, Tony Garcia will be the
new VCW World Champion.
Next week's show will be the final one before the Survival of the
Fittest pay-per-view, and it's already shaping up to be full of action. Not
only will it contain the second round of the Survival of the Fittest
Tournament, it will also include more appearances from some of the best of the
best in VCW. Make sure you don't miss perhaps the most important night leading
into the Survival of the Fittest pay-per-view, and join us next Monday night
for VCW Monday Night Wrestling!!
