Match observations:
Tonight's show opened on a rather somber note, as VCW mourned the
passing of Rodney Anoai, who wrestled prominently in the World Wrestling
Federation as Yokozuna, and who briefly appeared on VCW programming as well.
Virginia, being the VCW Commissioner and the one VCW wrestler who has had the
honor of wrestling Yokozuna, was a natural choice to lead the tribute to
Yokozuna at the beginning of the show, and she spoke with great sincerity in so
doing. It makes it that much more of a pity that she was not sincere in events
that would come later in the show.
After the tribute to Yokozuna and some of the usual opening-card fare,
Stiff Competition gained a measure of revenge on "Doctor" Dave Adams and Main
Street Pete, beating the living hell out of them after their match with the
Middle-Aged Outlaws. Making Stiff Competition mad seemed to be a questionable
move at the time, and now it looks even more like a bad idea after their
retaliation tonight. It seems like the best thing that Dave Adams and Main
Street Pete could do now is pray that this settles it and hope to never have to
deal with Stiff Competition again.
Thanks to Brian Rivera, Jeff Wright was defeated by Dick Douglas, who
had some news about Crimson and some nasty things to say about Tattoo before
the match. Unfortunately, this kind of victory will probably only serve to make
Dick Douglas's mouth even bigger. But on the bright side, seeing as he
challenged Tattoo to a match at Spontaneous Combustion, it looks like it might
not be too long before Tattoo comes along and shuts him up forcefully. After
the match, Jeff Wright called for a match with Brian Rivera; however, due to a
neck injury sustained by Brian Rivera, that match won't happen. Instead, Jeff
Wright will face a debuting mystery opponent at Spontaneous Combustion.
Unhappy with the recent changes in the VCW T & A Division, including
being defeated by Jennie for the title at Horror Show, Christina Ellis threw
out a challenge tonight after suplexing Leslie Edwards into unconsciousness.
She challenged Jennie and Jessica Judd to face her and Jasmina Chastity in a
Scissors on a Pole Match at Spontaneous Combustion, based on Jennie's recent
attempts to cut away her clothes and ring attire with scissors. Christina Ellis
made it clear that she had more violent intentions with the scissors if she
gets her hands on them.
After defeating Dick Douglas at Horror Show, John Uldwall has gained a
little more payback against Hell's Bikers tonight, defeating Butch Manson in a
one-on-one match. John Uldwall has been making a pretty impressive showing
lately, but he still has yet to meet up with the two big men of Hell's Bikers,
Jack Norman and Crimson. In addition, there's always the problem of strength in
numbers... John Uldwall's trying to fight a gang of the roughest brawlers in
VCW singlehandedly, and that could prove to be a very bad idea if Hell's Bikers
decide to take advantage of their superior numbers.
Jennie and Jessica Judd accepted Christina Ellis's challenge to a
Scissors on a Pole Match, and with the Ontario Color Show another challenge was
made, for a match pitting the Ontario Color Show, Jennie, and Jessica Judd
against Jacob Idol, Rob Solomon, Jasmina Chastity, and Christina Ellis next
week. The Ontario Color Show seemed to be operating under the assumption that
they would win the number-one contenders spot tonight, and that didn't happen,
because interference from Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Moy Lazzario caused the
Heavy Metal Express to win via disqualification. This plan by Mongo and Moy
Lazzario definitely backfired; not only did they fail to gain adequate revenge
on the Heavy Metal Express, but they also made two new enemies in the Ontario
Color Show. It's a good bet that this will come back to haunt them later.
Though Virginia was very sincere in her opening tribute to Yokozuna,
some of her other actions tonight revealed another side of her personality.
Tonight, she was seen cheating on Johnny Smiles with Arthur Justice. Despite
catching Virginia and Arthur in a compromising situation, Johnny remained
clueless as ever, not even questioning when he was sent to wrestle Brian Rivera
to remove him as a distraction from Virginia and Arthur. The story takes a
further, more regrettable turn from there, as Brian Rivera landed wrong in the
Smiledriver and injured his neck, even more severely than Troy Black's neck
injury. He's expected to be out for five months, but all of VCW wishes him a
quick and full recovery.
Neytron DelArmeggio teamed up with Jasmina Chastity to face longtime
enemy Devaccio Pola and his own sister, Melissa DelArmeggio, in tag team
competition. But before that, a match was made; Melissa will face Neytron,
one-on-one, at Spontaneous Combustion, and the loser of that match will leave
VCW. The outcome of tonight's match certainly didn't bode well for Neytron in
that respect, as Jasmina Chastity ended up caught in the ring alone with
Devaccio Pola, and was quickly mauled and made to submit in a scorpion
deathlock. Then again, one-on-one, Neytron has the advantage of size and
wrestling experience over his sister Melissa, and has to be considered the
favorite to win. It wouldn't be surprising to see Melissa's VCW career end only
a month after it was given new life.
Salvaje Demonio did better than anyone could have expected against
Julian Page tonight, and even seemed to be on the verge of defeating him and
winning the VCW Intercontinental Title. Unfortunately for Salvaje Demonio, that
didn't happen, because Stormy Weathers sent Big Trouble, the team of Jorge
Gonzalez and Ron Reese, to look for a little revenge. They got it, too; Salvaje
Demonio was quickly laid out. Devaccio Pola tried to run in and save the day,
but he too was stopped and sent sprawling to the mat by his two giant enemies.
Like it or not, Stormy Weathers seems to have one heck of a powerful team on
his hands here. And next week, we'll find out just how much these two big men
can do, because they'll be wrestling the team of VCW World Champion Troy Black
and David Wright Hubbard in the main event, in possibly the biggest test that
any new VCW wrestlers could face.
Lance Errington and Falcon agreed to set aside all their differences
tonight and accept a challenge made by Tony Garcia and Randy Savage early in
the show for a match. Just like last week, however, Tony Garcia and Randy
Savage weren't about to play by fair odds. Julian Page came in to assist them,
causing a disqualification but setting off a beating on Lance Errington and
Falcon. But despite his assistance, Tony Garcia and Randy Savage were once
again sent running as David Wright Hubbard came to the ring and cleaned house,
paying Falcon and Lance Errington back for saving him in a similar situation
last week. After he had run the assailants off, David Wright Hubbard called for
a three-on-three match with Tony Garcia, Randy Savage, and Julian Page. While
it seems that even odds would benefit David Wright Hubbard, Falcon, and Lance
Errington, it also bears mentioning that the last time a team wrestled Tony
Garcia, Randy Savage, and Julian Page in a six-man tag team match, all three
members ended up injured... and David Wright Hubbard was a part of that team.
Two matches for next week are known, as Christina Ellis, Jasmina
Chastity, Jacob Idol, and Rob Solomon take on the Ontario Color Show, Jennie,
and Jessica Judd, while Troy Black and David Wright Hubbard face Big Trouble.
It's hard to say what else to expect next week, but it's probably a safe bet to
assume that there will be a lot of the usual action and excitement, with a
little of the unusual action and excitement thrown in for variety. Don't miss
next week's show!!
