Match observations:

Tonight, VCW presented the second of a pair of back-to-back shows back
home at the VCW Arena. Tonight, we heard a number of compelling interviews and
surprising announcements, and saw some great wrestling action. November started
off with a bang in VCW as we continue getting closer and closer to Spontaneous
Combustion, which is now a mere thirteen days away.
Based on Julian Page's portrayal of Hulk Hogan last week, the Middle-
Aged Outlaws seemed to want to punish him for gimmick infringement. But rather
than a match with Julian Page, they had to settle for a tag team title shot
against Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon. The Middle-Aged Outlaws had a surprisingly
watchable match for once, but it's obvious that they won't be the ones to take
the titles from the team of Idol and Solomon, who are appearing stronger and
stronger all the time.
One tag team that isn't looking so strong is the team of "Doctor" Dave
Adams and Main Street Pete, although they did score an impressive victory over
the makeshift duo of Jeff Wright and Salvaje Demonio tonight. The real story
here is what took place after the match, when Dave Adams and Main Street Pete
challenged Stiff Competition to a match at Spontaneous Combustion. As it turned
out, Stiff Competition wanted to start the match a little early, and ended up
sending Dave Adams and Main Street Pete fleeing for their lives. One has to
wonder what would possess Dave Adams and Main Street Pete to repeatedly
antagonize Stiff Competition, considering that they usually end up paying for
it. The only reasonable explanation would seem to be that they have a plan for
success at the pay-per-view match... but given the way things have looked
recently, it had better be a good plan.
For the second week in a row, Ken Collins delivered a great match in
singles competition tonight, this week defeating Moy Lazzario. While Robert
Danson has certainly been successful recently associating with John Uldwall,
Ken Collins has been truly impressive since the split in the Immortals, and
looks to be on the fast track to success in VCW, especially with performances
like this one.
When Virginia left the arena to spend a little quality time with Johnny
Smiles (and incidentally, keep him away from any source where he might find out
the truth regarding her recent actions), she gave Arthur Justice a golden
opportunity, a chance to win the VCW Television Title from Jiro Tobikuma in a
match where the title could change hands by countout or disqualification.
Arthur's inexperience prevented him from capitalizing on this opportunity;
instead, Jiro Tobikuma took him apart and retained the VCW Television Title
tonight. Arthur has some impressive physical attributes, but he still doesn't
seem ready to take any major titles in VCW.
Hell's Bikers knew that John Uldwall had found a new ally in Robert
Danson recently when they called him out tonight. What they didn't count on was
Tattoo coming out by his side as well. That proved to be the difference maker
in their three-on-three match tonight, as Tattoo destroyed Butch Manson with a
power bomb to win the match for his team tonight. Dick Douglas certainly has
his work cut out for him at Spontaneous Combustion, after seeing what Tattoo is
capable of tonight.
We also found out tonight that Stacey Lockman will be interviewing Bret
"The Hitman" Hart at Spontaneous Combustion, in an unscripted, uncensored one-
on-one interview. Many topics will be discussed, including the possibility of
Bret Hart joining the VCW roster. It should be very interesting to hear what
Bret Hart has to say in his first major interview on a wrestling program since
he was released from WCW.
Troy Black responded to some very threatening, confident comments from
his brother Gabriel Black, then made his match with Steve "Mongo" McMichael a
title match. That decision nearly caused him to lose the title when Moy
Lazzario interfered, but Troy Black overcame the odds and won the match
decisively despite interference. A post-match attack by Moy Lazzario was also
thwarted, with the aid of the Ontario Color Show. Troy Black was impressive
tonight, but the real test begins at Spontaneous Combustion. Will he be able to
defy the odds and defeat his brother for a second time? It's pretty seldom that
the person who holds the World Title is seen as the underdog in any match, but
that's the case according to many people who are studying the conflict between
Troy and Gabriel Black.
Falcon, David Wright Hubbard, and Lance Errington were an effective
team, despite not being the best of friends out of the ring, and they
convincingly defeated Tony Garcia, Randy Savage, and Julian Page tonight in a
three-on-three match. But after the match, the odds shifted to four-on-three
when a strange masked man emerged as a new ally for Tony Garcia, Randy Savage,
and Julian Page. With a little help from him, the balance was shifted again,
and once again Falcon, David Wright Hubbard, and Lance Errington were on the
receiving end of an attack.
Next week's show is the final show before Spontaneous Combustion. As a
result, it wouldn't be at all unexpected to see all hell break loose, as often
happens right before a major event. What is expected is that many VCW stars
such as Johnny Smiles, Jimmy Lockman, the Ontario Color Show, Melissa
DelArmeggio, and Neytron DelArmeggio will be present and in action. Make sure
you join us for next week's exciting episode of VCW Monday Night Wrestling!
