We're back, and ready to kick off Part Two of Survival of the Fittest! And without any delay, we're going to move right into our next match!

"Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin begins playing, and the crowd boos as Jacob Idol comes out of the backstage entrance, accompanied by Jasmina Chastity. He looks serious and focused, and you know he has to be anxiously awaiting his match against Owen Addison, his longtime rival, who we've already seen in action once tonight, as he reunited with Paul Canyon to reform the Ontario Colour Show in the nick of time, defeating Jack Norman and Butch Manson. Normally, odds would be slightly in the favor of Owen Addison in this match as well, seeing as he has won almost all of his previous confrontations with Jacob Idol. But between Jacob Idol's careful planning and anticipation for this match, and Owen's involvement in a match earlier tonight, the odds may have shifted. Jacob Idol enters the ring and immediately turns a burning stare to the backstage entrance, awaiting the arrival of his most hated rival. You can feel the bitterness and hatred in his eyes... will he find the elusive victory he seeks tonight?

We'll find out, because now "Until It Sleeps" by Metallica is playing, and that brings out Owen Addison, to a round of cheers from the crowd!! He walks to the ring, meeting Jacob Idol's stare the whole way, but there's a hint of uneasiness in his eyes. Earlier tonight, his previously-injured right shoulder took some abuse in his match against Hell's Bikers, and he knows Jacob Idol will try to capitalize on that. He's going up against a vicious, single-minded opponent who is, if not his equal as a technical wrestler, at least very, very close to it, and he's not entirely fresh going into this fight. Owen Addison steps slowly into the ring, then approaches the center and stares into Jacob Idol's eyes. They stare at each other, only a pace or two apart, as Jerry Rogers enters the ring and calls for the bell!!

Owen Addison

vs.

Jacob Idol
w/Jasmina Chastity

They lock up in the middle of the ring, and Jacob Idol feints going for an armwringer out of the lockup, but instead takes Owen over his shoulders and brings him to the mat with a fireman's carry! Owen starts to get up, but Jacob Idol's a step ahead of him; he grabs a headlock and uses it to whip Owen Addison to the mat in a headlock takedown, then immediately flows to the side and slaps on an armbar submission on the right arm! The crowd boos, but Jacob Idol looks justifiably proud of himself; the trick armwringer attempt threw Owen off-guard and enabled him to take control early on! Owen Addison cries out in pain, then struggles to the ropes and makes it after several seconds. Jerry Rogers makes his count, and predictably, Jacob Idol releases at four.

Owen Addison starts to get up, but now it seems like Jacob Idol has changed tactics again, hammering him with right hand punches, then whipping him into the ropes. Owen Addison comes off the ropes, and catches a dropkick square to the face from Jacob Idol that takes him down! He starts to get up, seeming a bit disoriented, and NOW Jacob Idol grabs his arm and twists! But Owen's not as stunned as he appears to be, and he drops down and rolls out of the armwringer, then tries to reverse it, but Jacob Idol takes his arm behind his back with a wristlock! Owen Addison twists out of the wristlock and slips behind Jacob Idol, hooking him for a belly-to-back suplex; Jacob Idol throws an elbow back at him, but Owen ducks, and Jacob Idol merely whirls around in his grasp, allowing Owen Addison to take him over with a Northern Lights suplex!! The crowd explodes into cheers, and Jerry Rogers makes the count... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... Kickout at two by Jacob Idol!! Owen Addison's right arm already seemed to have a rather tenuous grasp during the bridge from the suplex, which is a bad sign this early in the match.

Owen Addison is up first, and he grabs Jacob Idol's head, then snap mares him to a sitting position on the mat. Still holding his head, he flips over him with a jumping neck snap! Owen Addison pulls Jacob Idol up quickly, then hooks him and takes him down with a vertical suplex! Not giving Jacob Idol any respite, Owen Addison pulls him up again, then turns him and brings him down with a reverse neckbreaker, smartly done on the left side. Owen Addison has Jacob Idol down, and he drops a leg on him, then turns him and grabs him in a seated front facelock. Jacob Idol begins fighting the hold, and he gets to his feet, then grabs Owen Addison in preparation to lift him, but Owen Addison releases the hold and clobbers him with a forearm to the back! Jacob Idol falters under the blow, but instead of lifting Owen Addison he manages to reach down and bring him down with a double-leg takedown!! He holds Owen Addison's legs spread and kicks him in the crotch, getting a protest from Jerry Rogers. Owen Addison curls up in pain on the mat, and Jacob Idol measures him, then drops a knee right on his right shoulder!

Jacob Idol holds Owen Addison down on the mat, then drives his knee into his shoulder again, causing him to cry out in pain. He grabs Owen Addison's right arm and pulls him away from the ropes, but Owen Addison gets to his knees, grabs Jacob Idol with his left hand, and pulls him down into a small package! Jerry Rogers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... Kickout at two by Jacob Idol, and it seems like that just made him mad! He gives Owen Addison a kneelift to the face as they both get up, then pulls him up and hooks him for a vertical suplex. He lifts, but Owen Addison squirms and slips out behind him, then hooks him from the side and brings him down with a Russian legsweep! The crowd cheers loudly for the reversal, and it looks like Owen Addison still has a lot left!

Jacob Idol gets up again, but Owen Addison's up first, and he whips Jacob Idol into a corner. Jacob Idol hits the turnbuckles back-first and staggers out, and Owen Addison grabs him and gives him an inverted atomic drop! Jacob Idol doubles over, in a world of hurt, and Owen Addison hooks his arms and flings him back with a double underhook suplex! He grits his teeth and rolls his shoulder after that move, but it took Jacob Idol down hard. Jacob Idol gets up, a little groggy, and Owen Addison hits him with a weak-looking forearm smash from his right, then whips him into the ropes, lifts him on the left side when he comes off, and brings him down throat-first on the top rope with a Hotshot!! Jacob Idol goes down, clutching his throat, and rolls out of the ring!

Jerry Rogers begins counting, and doesn't seem inclined to stop his count when Jacob Idol makes a "T" with his hands to call for a time-out. Owen Addison remains in the ring, cautiously watching Jacob Idol as he rolls his shoulder and rubs at it. On the outside, Jacob Idol stops to confer with Jasmina Chastity, who speaks some words of encouragement that the cameras don't pick up, then rubs Jacob Idol's neck and gives him a quick hug. Emboldened, Jacob Idol approaches the apron, preparing to reenter the ring... and Owen Addison rushes forward and hits him with a baseball slide that sends him sprawling to the floor!!

Owen Addison gets up inside the ring, unable to resist a smirk after a move like that, and the crowd cheers, as Jacob Idol gets up, checks his mouth for blood, and protests the unfairness of that attack. But this time, he's reentering the ring more cautiously, climbing up the ringsteps, then stepping in quickly through the ropes. They lock up in the middle of the ring, and Owen Addison quickly grabs a side headlock, but Jacob Idol quickly grabs his weakened right arm and twists out of it into a wristlock! He leans in close to Owen Addison, muttering something to him with a baleful look in his eyes, but Owen Addison takes advantage of that close proximity to snap his head back into Jacob Idol's face! Jacob Idol releases the wristlock, stunned, to clutch at his nose, and Owen Addison quickly turns, slips behind him, lifts, and brings him crashing to the mat with a belly-to-back suplex!!

The crowd explodes into cheers, and Jacob Idol looks shaken as he begins to get up. Owen Addison quickly doubles him over with a kick to the midsection, then knocks him down to his knees by driving his left elbow into the back of his neck. Jacob Idol pulls himself up again, clutching at his neck, and Owen Addison lashes out at him with a savate kick, but Jacob Idol catches his foot! Owen Addison leaps up for an enzuigiri, but Jacob Idol ducks, and Owen Addison lands face-down on the mat, with Jacob Idol still holding his foot! Jacob Idol pulls him forward by the foot into a waistlock, then lifts him up into a half-nelson, half-chickenwing hold, but Owen Addison steps forward to a corner and kicks off the turnbuckles, falling back onto Jacob Idol in a pinning position! Jerry Rogers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... Jacob Idol manages to roll onto his side at two and a half, then applies a bodyscissors in addition to his chickenwing-nelson!! Owen Addison struggles, but there's no counter to save him now, and he's forced to squirm to the ropes and drape a foot over the bottom rope, remaining in the hold for several seconds. Jerry Rogers counts, and Jacob Idol releases at four.

They both get up, and Jacob Idol gives Owen Addison a kick to the midsection, then grabs his arm, pulls it to the side, and quickly drapes a leg over it and drops for a Rocker Dropper-like takedown on the arm. He tries to flow from that into a cross armbreaker, but Owen Addison immediately sees that coming and grabs the ropes before the move's even applied. Jacob Idol, disgusted, just lets go, stands up, and kicks Owen Addison in the ribs as he pulls himself up. Owen Addison staggers back, and Jacob Idol backs him into a corner with a series of right hands, boosts him up on the turnbuckles, then climbs up with him. He hooks Owen Addison for a superplex, but Owen blocks and struggles and shoves him off the turnbuckles! Jacob Idol lands on his feet and staggers back a step or two, and looks up just as Owen steadies himself and leaps off onto him with a FLYING CROSS BODYPRESS!! Jacob Idol goes down, Owen Addison stays on him for the cover, and Jerry Rogers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... THR... Kickout at two and three-quarters!! That move hit Jacob Idol hard out of nowhere and nearly won the match!!

Owen Addison gets up, pauses to roll his shoulder out for a second or two, and pulls Jacob Idol up, then lifts him from behind with a reverse gutwrench, into the upside-down over-the-shoulder position for the Tombstone! But Jacob Idol knows where he is, and he kicks and squirms frantically! Owen's shoulder isn't strong enough to hold him, and Jacob Idol slips out behind him, hooking his head on the way down for the INVERTED DDT!! The back of Owen Addison's head hits the canvas hard, and the crowd explodes into boos! Jacob Idol yells "THAT'S IT!!" and scrambles across Owen for the cover. Jerry Rogers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... THR... KICKOUT!! Owen Addison kicked out after the inverted DDT!!

Jacob Idol grimaces, but he quickly pulls Owen Addison up, lifts him, and gives him a shoulderbreaker! Owen Addison cries out in pain and clutches his shoulder, and Jacob Idol goes down to hook him for a crossface, but Owen Addison fights up to his hands and knees before he can get the hold locked on, then takes Jacob Idol over with a fireman's carry! Owen Addison pulls himself to his feet, lifting Jacob Idol to his feet from behind as well. Jacob Idol throws a backwards kick, but Owen Addison blocks it with an extended leg, then lifts Jacob Idol on his left side, shifts him to a high angle, and falls back with a BACKDROP DRIVER!! The crowd cheers, Jasmina Chastity screams, and Owen Addison takes a second to shake out the cobwebs, then covers him! Jerry Rogers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... THR... SHOULDER UP!! Jacob Idol's not quite done yet!!

Smiling through the pain he's in, Owen Addison pulls Jacob Idol up into a standing headscissors. He rolls his shoulder and grimaces, then bends down to lift him for a piledriver, but he's having a hard time with the condition of his arm, and Jacob Idol counters it with a backdrop! Owen Addison tries to take him over with a sunset flip, but instead of falling back Jacob Idol reaches down, grabs his right arm, and steps and falls to the side into a CROSS ARMBREAKER!! Owen Addison cries out in pain and immediately begins thrashing wildly, trying desperately to make it to the ropes! Jacob Idol just hit that move out of nowhere, and it may turn the match around!! Owen's struggling to the ropes, in a world of pain, and slowly gaining ground, but that's a devestating move that you don't want to be in for even an instant, and Owen's spending several seconds caught in it!!

Owen Addison continues dragging himself to the ropes, nearly overcome with pain, and the crowd's getting behind him, cheering him on as he fights for every inch! He's getting close, and reaching out with his free arm as Jacob Idol cranks down on the hold and puts pressure on his arm. Owen Addison drags himself just a little closer to the ropes and lunges out... and he makes it!! Finally, he has the ropes, and Jerry Rogers orders a break, but Jacob Idol squeezes four more seconds out of it before releasing the hold and standing up. He looks a bit frustrated, but also very confident in his ability to beat Owen now.

Owen Addison escaped that move, but the real story may be the damage done to his right arm. He gets up, clutching the upper half of his right arm and grimacing, and Jacob Idol immediately steps forward and grabs his arm in an armwringer, then brings it down across his shoulder with an armbreaker. Owen Addison turns and staggers away, clutching at his arm, and Jacob Idol just unloads on him with a series of punches that back him into the ropes, then scoops him up for a shoulderbreaker... but Owen Addison struggles, and slips out behind him! He tries to lift Jacob Idol for the Tombstone with a rear gutwrench, but he just doesn't have the strength in his arm, and Jacob Idol cuts him off with a back elbow, then turns, scoops him up, and this time connects with the shoulderbreaker!!

Owen Addison goes down on the mat, squirming and writhing in pain, and Jacob Idol stomps and kicks at his right shoulder a few times, then pulls him up into a front chancery, lifts, and drops him with a BRAIN BUSTER!! It's pretty safe to say that Owen Addison is no longer in this match, barring a miracle. Jacob Idol smirks down at his motionless body, then steps out to the apron and climbs to the top turnbuckle. He leaps off with a FLYING KNEEDROP!! And it connects directly on the right shoulder!! Owen Addison begins thrashing around in pain on the mat, clutching his shoulder, and Jacob Idol gets up, surveying his work with a smile. Owen Addison tries to pull himself to his feet, but Jacob Idol stomps him down, then lifts him into a standing headscissors, lifts him, and gives him a POWER BOMB!! Owen Addison crashes hard to the mat, and it's clear that he's no longer in this match.

Jacob Idol stands back and yells "GET UP, YOU BASTARD!!" at Owen Addison, but Owen Addison just rolls out of the ring, clutching his shoulder in agony. He may be ready to take a walk on this match, and that's probably wise, as he'd be risking injury by staying in it. But Jacob Idol's not pleased, and as Owen Addison turns to head up the ramp, Jacob Idol climbs up to the top turnbuckle quickly and leaps off to take him down with a TOP-ROPE BULLDOG ON THE FLOOR!! The crowd's loud boos are mixed in with a few cheers for that impressive move, and Jacob Idol winces and clutches his tailbone as he gets up; the landing didn't do him any favors. But now he scoops Owen Addison up, runs at a ringpost, and takes him shoulder-first into it!! Owen Addison yells in pain, and Jacob Idol just rolls him back into the ring to continue the assault!!

With Owen Addison totally out of it, Jacob Idol puts him on one of the top turnbuckles, facing the crowd, and climbs up after him. It looks like he's going to put a big exclamation point on the finish of this match, as he hooks him from behind and falls back with the IDOLIZER!! That's his top-rope inverted DDT, the most deadly move in his arsenal!! Owen Addison is down on the mat, and a three-count would be academic, but Jacob Idol's not going for the cover... he's turning him over and applying an armbar!! He yells "TAP OUT, YOU PIECE OF SHIT, OR I'LL RIP YOUR GODDAMN ARM OFF!!" and Owen Addison's feebly struggling, but the ropes are nowhere near, and he has nothing left. He reaches out desperately, coming up at least a foot and a half short of the ropes... and he starts tapping out!! Owen Addison has submitted, and Jacob Idol wins this match!!

Jacob Idol made Owen Addison submit to an armbar submission in 0:19:00.
Rating: ****

The crowd boos loudly, but Jacob Idol immediately springs up from the mat with a whoop of joy, only to put another hand to his tailbone and grimace at the effort of that movement. His hand moves to the back of his neck next, as he grimaces, but he still manages to raise one arm in victory and smile through the pain. He motions for Jasmina Chastity to enter the ring, and when she does, he immediately envelops her in a sweaty hug and spins her around in his arms, then lets her go and calls for a microphone. He gets one, and stands over Owen Addison, smiling and breathing heavily, with an intense, burning look in his eyes.

J. Idol: THREE YEARS, Owen. It's been THREE whole YEARS since you decided I wasn't good enough for the Technicians. Was it jealousy? Did it eat at you that much, knowing that you were only the SECOND-best wrestler from our little Toronto group? Or were you stupid enough to believe your own hype over the facts when critics and talent scouts said you were the best? You can just take the myths and the legacy of the Ontario Colour Show, the Technicians, and Owen Addison, wad it all up, and throw it straight in the garbage, because now I'm the king of Toronto, and I'M the greatest technical wrestler on the face of the planet, beyond a SHADOW of a DOUBT.

Oh, brother... now that he finally has his coveted victory over Owen Addison, we'll never hear the end of it. What a bunch of msturbatory ego-stroking we're in for now...

J. Idol: It's taken me three years for me to crack the illusion, but make no mistake, what you've just seen is Jacob Idol BEATING Owen Addison, one-on-one, with NO outside interference, NO foreign objects, and NO extenuating circumstances. And it's on tape, and it happened in front of ten thousand people, so NOBODY can deny it. And I didn't just beat him... I destroyed him. Take a look down there on the mat at what's left of Owen Addison, and then take a look at the man who did that to him, single-handedly, by-the-book, and in the middle of the ring... that's me, Jacob Idol!!

He may be right on a lot of levels, but there's one thing he's leaving out: Owen Addison took some nasty blows to that shoulder earlier on against Hell's Bikers, so it's not like this was a totally even contest. In fact, in a match between two men as closely-matched as Owen Addison and Jacob Idol, one would have to say that those earlier events may have been the deciding factor. Owen Addison slowly pulls himself up off of the mat, clutching his right arm as it limply dangles at his side, and he says something to Jacob Idol that the cameras don't catch, sneers, and gives him the finger. Jacob Idol's eyes flare wide with anger, and he steps forward.

J. Idol: What!? Haven't you had enough!? Don't you see? I won. YOU lost. Game over. Now why don't you bow down at my feet, admit that I'm the better man, and get the hell out of the ring? In fact, you oughtta get the hell out of the whole damn company and head for some cock-and-bull wrestling show where they'll take second-rate losers like you, because you're only second-best, and here in VCW, that's just NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Owen Addison glares at Jacob Idol, then turns to leave the ring... and Jacob Idol grabs him, whirls him around, and slaps him hard across the face! Owen Addison goes down to one knee, and Jacob Idol punches him in the face with the microphone, knocking him down! He crouches over Owen Addison, smashing him in the face repeatedly with the microphone, then stops to yell at him.

J. Idol: No!! You're not leaving this ring until you admit it! Who's the better man!? Say it!!

Come on, this is unnecessary! Owen Addison already submitted once tonight!! Jacob Idol's obsession borders on mental derangement here... but someone just stepped out of the backstage entrance... ROB SOLOMON!! He has a microphone in one hand, and his hockey stick in the other!!

R. Solomon: Hold it right there, old buddy. I've been sitting in the back watching this, and I think it's gone just about far enough.

Jacob Idol turns to look at Rob Solomon, stunned, and the crowd gives a surprised cheer! It looks like Rob Solomon's coming here to put a stop to this!! Rob Solomon begins walking down the ramp, and Jacob Idol and Jasmina Chastity are both staring at him, dumbfounded. As he steps up to the apron, Jacob Idol finally speaks...

J. Idol: Hold it. What the hell's this? What do you think you're doing!?

R. Solomon: It's simple, what I'm doing. I've been backstage, watching on the monitors, and I've seen about enough of this--

The crowd cheers, and Jacob Idol gets up off of Owen Addison.

J. Idol: I don't like where this is going... partner. You've got some explaining to do, and do it fast.

R. Solomon: Anyway, with you out here running your mouth and beating on Owen, I couldn't just stand by and do NOTHING. My conscience wouldn't let me. So I came out here...

Rob Solomon steps forward, getting in Jacob Idol's face, and the crowd cheers, then falls into a hush. This could get interesting...

R. Solomon: I came out here, to work these fucking idiots in the stands, and they fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Now, you want me to help you put this guy on the shelf, or what?

Jacob Idol smiles, and as Owen Addison begins getting up, Rob Solomon brings his hockey stick down directly on his right shoulder!! The crowd boos loudly, and Jacob Idol begins stomping down at Owen Addison, as Rob Solomon whacks him repeatedly with the hockey stick. Rob Solomon is a manipulative, morally-bankrupt bastard, and it looks like they're seriously trying to injure Owen Addison now!! Come on, this isn't right at all!!

But wait... Tim Bell and Paul Canyon are coming out of the backstage entrance, and they both have chairs!! They slide into the ring, and Rob Solomon takes a swing at Tim Bell with his hockey stick, but Tim Bell blocks it with his chair, and Paul Canyon comes in from the side and whacks Rob Solomon with a chairshot, knocking him down! Jacob Idol rushes forward and dropkicks Paul Canyon's chair into his face, but as he gets up from the dropkick, Tim Bell brings his chair down on his head!! Jacob Idol crumples to the mat, and rolls out of the ring, as Jasmina Chastity dives for cover!! Rob Solomon joins them on the outside, and Paul Canyon and Tim Bell stand guard over Owen Addison, having saved him from possible injury at the hands of Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon!!

Jacob Idol, Rob Solomon, and Jasmina Chastity retreat up the entrance ramp, though Jacob Idol has to stop and raise his hands in victory one more time, just to have the last word. Shortly after their departure, some trainers come out and help Owen Addison to the back, with Paul Canyon and Tim Bell remaining at his side.

We're ready to move on to our next match now, which will be a Submission Match between Russel "The Muscle" Taylor and Chris Champlain. "Holding Out For A Hero" by Bonnie Tyler begins playing, and the crowd cheers as Russel "The Muscle" Taylor comes out of the backstage entrance, pumping his fists enthusiastically into the air. He goes down the aisle, slapping hands with the fans, and stops at ringside to sign an autograph for a little girl in the front row. But as he signs the autograph, Chris Champlain slinks out from under the ring!! And he's wielding an iron rod!! He lunges forward, swinging for Russel Taylor's knee... but Russel Taylor turns and dodges at the last moment, and Chris Champlain whacks the guardrail instead!! Russel Taylor has been ambushed before in similar fashion by Chris Champlain, and he was wary this time!!

Chris Champlain starts to get up, but Russel Taylor hits him in the face with a few big right hands, then throws him head-first into the ringsteps!! Chris Champlain's down, and Russel Taylor... turns back to the little girl, and finishes her autograph. Aw, that was nice of him. And then he grabs Chris Champlain, takes him head-first into the ring apron, then rolls him into the ring and climbs in after him! Bobcat McGavin enters the ring and calls for the bell, and this match is on!!

Submission Match:

Russel "The Muscle" Taylor

vs.

Chris Champlain

Chris Champlain starts to get up in the ring, and Russel Taylor rushes forward and takes him down with a clothesline! He gets up again, just in time for Russel Taylor to rebound off the ropes and take him down with a second clothesline!! Chris Champlain gets up again, and Russel Taylor whips him into the turnbuckles, then rushes in and nails him with a clothesline in the corner!! Russel Taylor whips Chris Champlain into the opposite corner, and he hits the turnbuckles back-first and staggers out... and Russel Taylor rushes him, then drops him with another clothesline!! Russel Taylor's moveset's about as deep as a wading pool, but he's cleaning house, and the crowd is cheering wildly!!

Chris Champlain gets to his feet, and Russel Taylor hammers him with three big right hands, then whips him into a corner again. Chris Champlain staggers out, and Russel Taylor grabs him, then takes him down with a big belly-to-belly suplex! He's really taking it to Chris Champlain, but let's remember, this is a Submission Match, and what he has to do to win the match is make Chris Champlain submit! Chris Champlain gets up, and Russel Taylor grabs him and takes him head-first into one of the turnbuckles! He staggers back, and Russel Taylor lifts him up on his shoulders, in a TORTURE RACK!! Russel Taylor begins racking Chris Champlain, trying to wring a submission out of him... but Chris Champlain still has too much fight left, and he squirms out behind Russel Taylor, then clobbers him with a forearm to the back of the head! Russel Taylor staggers forward, but then turns and rushes Chris Champlain with a clothesline... but Chris Champlain ducks and wraps around behind him, then takes him down with a release German suplex!!

The crowd boos, and Russel Taylor starts to get up, but Chris Champlain is waiting on him. He hits Russel Taylor with a series of forearm smashes to the head, then grabs him and tosses him out of the ring, through the ropes! Russel Taylor lands on the floor, and starts to get up, but Chris Champlain rushes forward and dives out onto him with a tope suicida!! They both go down in a heap on the floor, and the crowd can't surpress a few cheers of admiration for that big move. Chris Champlain's up first, and he reaches under the ring, then pulls out a Phillips screwdriver! He grinds the tip of it into Russel Taylor's forehead while laughing, and the camera catches him saying, "Yes, twist it slowly..." as he tears the flesh of Russel's forehead. Russel Taylor is busted open, and Chris Champlain laughs gleefully, then turns the screwdriver in his hand so he's holding it by the metal end and bops Russel Taylor on the head with the handle of it!

Russel Taylor returns fire with a blow to Chris Champlain's midsection, but Chris Champlain tosses aside the screwdriver and clobbers him down with a series of forearms. With Russel Taylor down, Chris Champlain grabs a chair, and then he drives the edge of it into Russel Taylor's right knee!! Russel Taylor curls up on the mat, yelling in pain, and Chris Champlain raises the chair, then drives it down into his leg again! Russel Taylor curls up on the floor, clutching at his leg, and Chris Champlain laughs, then whacks him across the back with the chair for good measure. Russel Taylor's down, and Chris Champlain reaches under the ring again, and he pulls out a table, but it appears to be made out of GLASS!! The crowd explodes into cheers upon seeing the table; they may not like Chris Champlain, but they'll like seeing someone go through that table!

Russel Taylor's trying to pull himself to his feet as Chris Champlain sets up the table. Chris Champlain turns and kicks him in the midsection, then hooks him for a vertical suplex... he's going to suplex Russel through the table!! But no, Russel blocks it, and reverses, suplexing Chris Champlain on the floor! The crowd is a little let down to see that nobody went through the table, but Russel Taylor just averted sure disaster there! Both men stay down for a few seconds, and Russel Taylor gets up first, limping severely, then pulls Chris Champlain up and nails him with a few right hand blows. He whips Chris Champlain into the guardrail, and Chris Champlain hits hard, then staggers out, into a big backdrop from Russel "The Muscle" Taylor! Chris Champlain lands hard, and once again, Russel Taylor is in control!

Russel Taylor rolls Chris Champlain back into the ring, then climbs in after him. His leg's hurting him again; Chris Champlain may have re-aggravated the recent damage he's done to it with those chair shots. But he's still in control, and as Chris Champlain gets up, favoring his back heavily, Russel Taylor runs forward and nails him with a clothesline! Chris Champlain goes down, and Russel Taylor drops an elbow on him, then pulls him up and puts on a bearhug! The crowd groans, but this might be smart thinking; this is a submission hold, after all, and he could get the victory with it. But Chris Champlain's struggling, trying to escape, and Russel Taylor turns it into an overhead belly-to-belly suplex instead!

Russel Taylor gets up and prepares to dish out more punishment, but he's clearly unsure of himself. This isn't his kind of match, and that's obvious. After some hesitation, he turns Chris Champlain over and sits down on his back in a camel clutch! This also might be a good tactic. Chris Champlain's clearly hurting as he struggles in the hold, and he slowly manages to push himself forward!! Chris Champlain's not even acknowledging Bobcat McGavin asking him if he wants to submit; he's putting all of his energy into fighting this hold! Russel Taylor's sitting down on it, pulling back on the chinlock, but Chris Champlain's continuing to struggle, and finally he makes it to the ropes!! He grabs the rope, and Bobcat McGavin orders Russel Taylor to release the hold, which he does immediately.

Russel Taylor stops to wipe some of the blood from his forehead, then pulls Chris Champlain up and hammers him with a few big right hands. He grabs Chris Champlain and lifts him high over his head in a Gorilla Press, but Chris Champlain slips out behind him, then hooks him and brings him down with a Russian legsweep!! Both men are down for a while after that, but they both start getting up... and Chris Champlain cuts Russel Taylor off with a kick to the midsection, then grabs his right leg and brings him down with a kneebreaker! Russel Taylor goes down, clutching his knee, and Chris Champlain quickly applies a kneebar!!

Now Russel Taylor's the one in trouble, and pain crosses over his blood-soaked face as he begins fighting his way to the ropes! Chris Champlain's face is a smiling, sadistic rictus as he puts pressure on the hold, but Russel Taylor's refusing to give up! Russel Taylor fights the hold, pulling himself to the ropes slowly, and the crowd starts getting behind him!! He's crawling slowly, but steadily closer to the ropes, and it doesn't look like he'll quit yet! He's getting near... he reaches out, lunges forward one more time, and gets the ropes!! Chris Champlain must release the hold!! He takes a full count of four, but then he lets Russel "The Muscle" Taylor go!!

Chris Champlain doesn't seem to be done yet, though; he just pulls Russel Taylor back into the middle of the ring, then grabs his legs... and he's trying to turn him over for the Texas Cloverleaf! This will have to be the end, if he can apply it on Russel's weakened leg... but Russel Taylor kicks him off! Chris Champlain goes back-first into a corner, then staggers out! Russel Taylor gets up, just in time to catch Chris Champlain with a backdrop as he comes out! But Chris Champlain takes Russel Taylor down with a sunset flip, rolling to his feet so he comes up holding Russel Taylor's legs, then puts them in position and turns him over into the TEXAS CLOVERLEAF!!

The crowd boos, and Russel Taylor lets out a loud cry of pain as Chris Champlain cranks back on the hold. He's fighting it, struggling, but then he seems to go limp. His bloody face twists in a grimace of anguish and despair... but the crowd begins clapping and chanting "RUSSEL!" at him! He looks up, emboldened by their support, and begins shaking his head furiously!! As the crowd's chant grows louder, Russel Taylor plants his hands on the mat and begins pushing up, and in a display of amazing power, he pushes up far enough to throw Chris Champlain off-balance! Chris Champlain topples forward, the hold is broken, and the crowd explodes into cheers!!

Grimacing in pain, Russel Taylor pulls himself to his feet, breathing heavily. Chris Champlain gets up and fires off a forearm to the head, but Russel Taylor just absorbs it!! Chris Champlain kicks Russel Taylor in the knee... but he absorbs that, too!! He just stares at Chris Champlain, shaking his head and wagging his finger with a stern glare on his face. Chris Champlain throws another forearm, but Russel Taylor blocks this time, then returns fire with three big right hands of his own!! He whips Chris Champlain into the ropes, and Chris Champlain comes off... into a BIG powerslam!! Chris Champlain's been flattened on the mat! And now Russel Taylor pulls him up into a standing headscissors, then lifts... POWER BOMB!! That's his finishing move!! He just drove Chris Champlain down hard onto the mat!! But he can't go for the pin now; he has to make Chris Champlain submit! But he puts on a standing headscissors, lifts him again, then drives him down again... POWER BOMB!! That's a second one!! Again, he pulls Chris Champlain up, puts him in position, and lifts... and he gives him a THIRD POWER BOMB!! Russel Taylor is destroying Chris Champlain!!

The crowd cheers loudly, and Chris Champlain is flattened like a pancake after those three Power Bombs. If pinfalls counted, the victory would be Russel's right now! But now Russel Taylor pulls Chris Champlain up across his broad shoulders in a TORTURE RACK!! He's racking Chris Champlain!! But will he submit!? Is he even conscious to submit!? Russel Taylor's racking Chris Champlain, and the crowd's going wild, but as Bobcat McGavin checks in with Chris Champlain, he's not calling for the bell yet!! Chris Champlain must be hanging in there somehow... either that, or he's not conscious enough to submit!

Undaunted, Russel Taylor continues applying the pressure in the torture rack, but he seems a little worried that he hasn't gotten the victory yet. He seems to be becoming tired, and shifts his position... but his knee goes out on him!! Russel Taylor couldn't keep the torture rack up any longer with his bad knee, and he topples to the mat underneath Chris Champlain!! They're both down now!! Bobcat McGavin stares back and forth at the two men, not knowing what to do; this is a submission match, and it's not over until the thirty-minute time limit expires, or until somebody gives up! There is no knockout rule in this match; the loser MUST submit!!

They're both down for quite some time... and, match or no match, it might be time to send in the medics. They've been down for well over a ten-count... but now Russel Taylor's beginning to get up! He's barely able to walk, but he gets to his feet and limps severely over to Chris Champlain. He starts to pull him up... LOW BLOW!! Chris Champlain just came to life and hit Russel Taylor with a low blow!! Now Russel Taylor crumples back down to the mat again, and once again, both men are down on the mat! But several seconds later, now Chris Champlain's the one who's getting up! He's wincing, putting his hand to his back... but now Russel Taylor's getting to his feet too! Russel Taylor's up, but Chris Champlain reaches into the pocket of his slacks and pulls out brass knuckles, then drills Russel Taylor in the head with them!! Russel Taylor is flattened, and that's perfectly legal in a Submission Match!!

Chris Champlain stumbles forward and leans against the ropes, gritting his teeth as he puts his hand to his back, but then seems to try to shake off the pain as he grabs Russel and hauls him up. He puts Russel Taylor on one of the top turnbuckles, facing the crowd, then climbs up after him! What does he have in mind!? He hooks Russel "The Muscle" Taylor for a belly-to-back superplex, then lifts... but he can't do it! His back's shot!! He just grimaces in pain and folds forward! He shakes his head, grits his teeth, and tries again... but Russel Taylor catches him with a back elbow!! Chris Champlain is stunned, and Russel Taylor reaches back, hooking him under the armpits with his hands! He straightens himself up on the turnbuckle and lifts Chris Champlain high, then turns towards the glass table... oh, no, he wouldn't... TOP-ROPE REVERSE CRUCIFIX POWERBOMB THROUGH THE GLASS TABLE ON THE FLOOR!!! Russel Taylor pitched Chris Champlain off the top turnbuckle, sending him FACE-FIRST through that glass table on the floor!! The crowd explodes in a chant of "V-C-W", and Chris Champlain is face-down on the floor in a heap of wreckage and broken glass!! What a horrific bump that was!!

Russel Taylor stares out of the ring with a horrified look on his face, looking down at Chris Champlain from in the ring. He can't believe that he just did that! And now he's calling for a microphone, and he gets one...

R. Taylor: I'M SORRY!! Oh, no... I didn't mean to do that! Someone get a stretcher out here!! He's hurt really badly!! How could I do that! Oh, I'm so sorry!! Please don't die!! I wasn't thinking! I don't know what came over me!!

Russel Taylor is horrified at his own actions, and here comes a medical crew... but Chris Champlain's getting up on his own! His face is just DRIPPING blood... it's running down his neck and chest, dripping from his nose and chin, and soaking his hair. His forehead has been destroyed, and it's an oozing, bleeding mess. He could be in serious danger from blood loss... but he swats aside the medics who are out to tend to him, and crawls back into the ring!! Russel Taylor backs away, horrified, raising the microphone to talk to him...

R. Taylor: Chris, you're hurt. You need to go to the hospital. Please, just go along with the doctors...

Chris Champlain grabs Russel Taylor's good left leg, and pulls himself up to his knees, then grabs Russel Taylor's wrist. He pulls the microphone down to his face, which is a hideous mask of blood...

C. Champlain: I'm not done yet. Just try and finish me off... I DARE you.

R. Taylor: What!? No!! That's crazy! You're DONE, Chris. Let the nice doctors help you...

Chris Champlain looks up at Russel Taylor, and a smile slowly spreads across his bloody face... and he begins laughing!! He could be bleeding to death in the middle of that ring, and he's laughing! He slowly gets to his feet, staggering towards Russel Taylor like some kind of mutilated zombie. He grabs the microphone again...

C. Champlain: I'm not done yet, and this match isn't over until somebody submits. I'm not submitting... and these doctors can't take me away before your visit with Uncle Chris is over.

Chris Champlain takes a step towards Russel Taylor and takes a wild swing at him, not coming close to hitting him, and then goes down to one knee. But he's still getting up! Russel Taylor backs away, panicking, as Chris Champlain continues to bleed. His hand is trembling as he raises the microphone again...

R. Taylor: I... I can't bring myself to hurt you anymore!! This can't go on any longer! I... I quit!! Stop the match! I quit!!

Russel Taylor just submitted, and everyone heard it!! Bobcat McGavin calls for the bell, and this match is over!!

Submission Match:
Chris Champlain defeated Russel Taylor in 0:18:09.
Rating: ** 3/4

Russel Taylor backs into a corner, but Chris Champlain stalks forward and snatches the microphone from him! His eyes lock with Russel Taylor's, and he smiles evilly...

C. Champlain: You fool. You could have destroyed the evil when you had the chance. Instead, you submitted. You have allowed me to survive. Because of your weak will, because of your cowardly, merciful, foolish soul... the world's misery will continue.

Chris Champlain throws his head back with a spray of blood and begins laughing maniacally, and Russel Taylor is staring at him, wide-eyed and clearly a little frightened. But as Chris Champlain laughs, suddenly his eyes roll back and he crumples to the mat, passing out from blood loss. Quickly, the medics enter the ring to tend to him. They're binding the gushing wounds on his face, and he's going to need a visit to the hospital and some major medical attention, in his condition. Russel Taylor stares after him, horrified, as the medics tie bandages tightly around his head, load him onto a stretcher, and begin wheeling him backstage.

As the ring area is cleaned up after that violent, bloody match, let's go backstage, where our cameras have caught up with Gabriel Black and his family! Let's take a look at that now!

Backstage...

Gabriel Black is sitting in a first-class dressing room. Inside is a comfortable sofa, and a table bearing trays of fruit, vegetables, and desserts, along with two glasses of wine. Sitting on the couch are Gabriel Black and his wife Charlotte, and their infant daughter Molly.

G. Black: Are you enjoying the show thus far?

C. Black: I could have enjoyed it just as much from home.

Gabriel Black smiles.

G. Black: I'm sure you could have. But I wanted you here. Tonight, you're going to see me come face-to-face with one of the men who nearly took everything from us. You're a very lucky woman, my dear. You must know that. I'm rich, handsome, famous throughout the world, powerful, and I'm an amazing lover... but I was almost NOTHING. Brujah is one of the men who almost took that from us. And tonight, you're going to watch me as I take from him. You're going to see him punished for what he tried to do. Would you like that?

Charlotte Black nods, and Gabriel Black leans in closer to her, putting a hand upon her thigh and talking softly to her.

G. Black: After you watch me defeat him... I want to watch you. I want to watch you walk to my bed, wearing only my newly-won VCW Television Title, and I want to show you--

Gabriel Black bolts up abruptly as the door to the locker room opens. Molly squirms and begins crying quietly, and Charlotte tries to comfort her as VCW Commissioner James Applebee comes in. Gabriel Black fixes him with an intense glare.

G. Black: You're not welcome here. I don't care if you're the VCW Commissioner... I'm going to have to ask you to leave immediately.

J. Applebee: That's fine. But before I leave, I wanted to pass along one bit of information to you. In the Survival of the Fittest Tournament finals, I know your brother is facing Johnny Smiles. I know how you must feel about that. But this match is extremely important, and there mustn't be any outside occurances that cheapen it. So I'm warning you in advance, just as I'm telling the rest of the roster... anyone who interferes in that match is FIRED, no questions asked, and it doesn't matter WHO they are. Even you, Gabriel. We must have a clean match tonight.

Gabriel Black's brow creases in annoyance as he stares at James Applebee.

G. Black: Do you think I care? Do you honestly suppose that I would stoop to interfering in that match to exact vengance on my brother? No... unlike him, I settle my business in the ring, face-to-face, man-to-man. I'm no cheap shot artist. I don't need to be. I will settle the score with Troy... but it will be one-on-one, in the ring.

J. Applebee: I'm glad to hear that, Gabriel. Now, I'm sorry I bothered you, so I'll leave you to your privacy...

G. Black: One more thing.

J. Applebee: What's that?

G. Black: For the sake of your Wrestlewar main event, you had better hope that Johnny Smiles emerges from this match as the victor. Because Troy Black won't make it to Wrestlewar. I intend to see to that personally.

J. Applebee: Remember what you said... no cheap shots.

G. Black: No... no cheap shots. Merely justice, administered face-to-face, one-on-one, man-to-man. And after Troy has been punished for his crimes, he'll be in no condition to participate in any Wrestlewar main event. His career will be OVER. So you had better hope that Johnny Smiles earns the title shot.

James Applebee stares at Gabriel for a second, looking a bit nervous, but then turns and leaves the room. Gabriel Black turns to Charlotte and takes Molly from her arms, holding her against himself as she continues to cry.

G. Black: You worry for your father, don't you? You're afraid I'll be hurt again. But don't be afraid for me, my child. I will defeat all opposition that stands against me, and take my rightful place as the undisputed greatest wrestler in the world. And you, darling Molly... you will never lack for anything that you want. I will be rich and powerful enough to give you everything. Yours will be a perfect life, in a perfect home, with a perfect father... so don't cry. Instead, have patience, and await the things that will be yours soon enough.

Molly becomes quiet, but then a knock comes at the door, disturbing her again.

G. Black: What is it now!?

The door opens, and Derek Cole steps in, smiling.

D. Cole: Hello, Gabriel.

G. Black: Derek Cole... why have you come here?

D. Cole: I need to discuss something with you. Would you mind joining me privately?

Gabriel Black glances back at Charlotte, then at Derek, and thrusts Molly into Charlotte's arms.

G. Black: Business is at hand. I will return.

Gabriel Black and Derek Cole leave the dressing room together, as the camera fades out on the backstage scene.

What was that about? In any case, we know now that nobody will be interfering in the tournament finals... but then, what could Gabriel Black be up to, with Derek Cole of all people? We're going to move on now, however; we still have several matches to go!

"Talk Dirty To Me" by Poison begins playing over the arena sound system, and the crowd cheers as Lars Coverdale comes out of the backstage entrance, jogging to the ring and smiling as he slaps hands with the fans. He wasn't smiling six days ago, however; he took a beating from David Wright Hubbard that prevented him from appearing in his highly-anticipated match with Johnny Smiles, and the effects of that beating may still be plaguing him tonight. Lars Coverdale slides into the ring and poses on one of the top turnbuckles. He looks like he has plenty of energy and confidence, but his track record against David Wright Hubbard leaves something to be desired.

And now "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath begins playing over the arena sound system, and the crowd boos loudly as David Wright Hubbard storms out of the backstage entrance, accompanied by his wife, Michelle, and makes his way to the ring. Ignoring the fans' booing and heckling, he strides quickly to the ring, rolls inside, then stands up and points at Lars Coverdale as he says something menacing that the cameras don't quite catch. David Wright Hubbard has been obsessed with trying to beat Lars Coverdale senseless time and time again, and unless Lars has learned a few new tricks, he may be seconds away from yet another beating. Linda Peterson enters the ring and calls for the bell, and this match will begin!!

David Wright Hubbard
w/Michelle Hubbard

vs.

Lars Coverdale

David Wright Hubbard roars at Lars Coverdale and charges with a lariat as the bell rings, but Lars Coverdale ducks, then pivots as David Wright Hubbard turns around, and launches a SUPERKICK!! David Wright Hubbard takes it on the chin and goes down!! Lars Coverdale goes down to cover him! Linda Peterson counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... Shoulder up at two and a half!! That was half a count away from being an embarrassingly short match for David Wright Hubbard! Lars Coverdale gets up, but David Wright Hubbard's starting to stand as well. Lars Coverdale quickly doubles him over with a kneelift, then backs into the ropes and comes off to take him down with a ROCKER DROPPER!! He's hitting a lot of his big moves early on in the match! David Wright Hubbard is brought down again, and Lars Coverdale rolls him over, then goes for the cover again! Linda Peterson counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... Shoulder up at two and a half again!!

Again, David Wright Hubbard starts to get up, so Lars Coverdale runs into the ropes, then comes off to nail him with a dropkick! David Wright Hubbard goes down, and gets up again, but Lars Coverdale is waiting on him with another dropkick that sends him down again! David Wright Hubbard starts to get up again, and Lars Coverdale comes forward, chopping him in the chest repeatedly, then whips him into a corner of the ring. David Wright Hubbard collides hard with the turnbuckles back-first, and Lars Coverdale charges in after him, but David Wright Hubbard comes charging out of the corner to mow Lars down with a LARIAT!! Lars Coverdale twists wildly in midair from the impact, then flops down into a heap on the mat!!

Just like that, the tide has turned. David Wright Hubbard leans against the ropes and shakes his head, trying to shake off some of the effects of Lars Coverdale's earlier offensive flurry. Lars Coverdale starts to get up, but David Wright Hubbard turns around and begins stomping away at him, sending him back to the mat face-down, then turns him over, straddles him, and begins raining punches down on his face! The crowd boos, and Lars Coverdale can do nothing but cover up and wait for Linda Peterson to order David Wright Hubbard off of him. David Wright Hubbard ignores Linda Peterson's first warning as he continues to pound away at Lars Coverdale, but when she threatens to disqualify him he gets up.

David Wright Hubbard stops to sneer at Linda Peterson, but then lifts Lars Coverdale over his head in a Gorilla Press near the ropes... but Lars Coverdale slips out behind him, then jumps up and dropkicks him in the back of the head! David Wright Hubbard stumbles forward and tumbles out over the top rope to the floor!! He begins getting up, glaring into the ring... but Lars Coverdale takes a running start and dives out onto him with a plancha, knocking him back into the guardrail!! The crowd cheers, and both men are down... but Lars Coverdale's getting up again! He grabs David Wright Hubbard and pulls him up, hitting him with a few fists to the face, then whips him into the steel ringsteps! David Wright Hubbard hits the ringsteps knee-first and goes down, howling in pain, as the crowd explodes into cheers!

David Wright Hubbard starts getting up again, and Lars Coverdale hooks him for a vertical suplex, but David Wright Hubbard blocks it! He lifts Lars Coverdale instead, then turns and brings him down chest-first on the guardrail! Lars Coverdale goes down among the fans in the front row, clutching his chest in pain, and David Wright Hubbard hauls him up by the hair and jerks him back over the guardrail into the ringside area! Still holding Lars Coverdale by the hair, he takes him head-first into the ring apron, then rolls him back into the ring. He climbs up on the apron and dares Lars Coverdale to get up... and Lars gets to his feet, but David Wright Hubbard springs up to the top rope, then leaps off to nearly decapitate him with a springboard clothesline!! The crowd stares in amazement; David Wright Hubbard doesn't typically use moves like that, but that one had a devestating effect on Lars!

But he's not going for the pin; if anything, David Wright Hubbard wants to drag this match out. He stops to flex his right leg, then pulls Lars Coverdale up by the hair again. Lars fires off a punch to the midsection, but David Wright Hubbard absorbs that and clobbers Lars with a massive right hand. Lars goes down to one knee, and David Wright Hubbard backs into the ropes, then comes off and kicks him square in the face with a big boot!! He stumbles and winces after the move, stopping to rub his right knee, but it's pretty safe to say that hurt Lars more than it hurt him. His knee hasn't been weakened that much yet in this match...

David Wright Hubbard turns back to Lars Coverdale's fallen body with a satisfied smile, then pulls him up and whips him into a corner of the ring. Lars hits the turnbuckles back-first, and David Wright Hubbard charges in at him, but Lars Coverdale lowers his head and backdrops David Wright Hubbard over the turnbuckles!! David Wright Hubbard somehow lands on his feet on the ring apron, and turns around to take a swing at Lars Coverdale, but Lars ducks, then leaps up and nails him with a dropkick! David Wright Hubbard flies back off of the ring apron and lands in a heap on the floor!!

Lars Coverdale is a little slow to get up after the dropkick, having taken quite a bit of abuse recently. But he gets to his feet, and as David Wright Hubbard gets up on the outside, he's going up to the top turnbuckle!! David Wright Hubbard looks up and sees him making the ascent... and quickly steps up on the apron to meet him! Lars gets to the top, but David Wright Hubbard grabs him from the apron... AND PRESS SLAMS HIM TO THE FLOOR!! Lars Coverdale lands hard on the thinly-padded concrete floor, and the crowd lets out an "oooh" of sympathy! David Wright Hubbard hops down from the apron, surveying his handiwork, then stands over Lars's fallen body and begins putting the boots to him!

David Wright Hubbard pulls Lars Coverdale up off of the floor, then lifts him high over his head in a Gorilla Press... and drops him throat-first across the guardrail! Lars Coverdale crumples to a heap on the floor again, clutching his throat, and David Wright Hubbard stomps at him a few more times, then stops to flex his right knee again. Lars starts getting up, so David Wright Hubbard clobbers him hard across the back, then grabs him by the hair and tosses him back into the ring.

Hubbard climbs in after Lars Coverdale, and Lars starts getting up, but David Wright Hubbard pulls him up and whips him into the ropes! Lars Coverdale comes off, right into a big spinebuster!! David Wright Hubbard gets up and leans over him to talk some trash, then backs up, comes off the ropes, and drops a big leg... but Lars Coverdale rolls out of the way!! They both get up a little slowly, and David Wright Hubbard charges Lars Coverdale, but runs right into a drop-toe hold!! Lars Coverdale moves into a waistlock, and David Wright Hubbard begins getting up, but Lars Coverdale just shifts his grip and lifts him, then brings him down with a big belly-to-back suplex!! That was an impressive move by Lars Coverdale, and David Wright Hubbard is down now! Lars Coverdale springs to the top turnbuckle, as David Wright Hubbard gets up, then leaps off with a FLYING CROSS BODYPRESS!! But David Wright Hubbard catches him out of the air and brings him down with a POWERSLAM!! David Wright Hubbard rolls over onto his back rather than hold Lars Coverdale for a pin attempt, and both men are down again.

David Wright Hubbard's getting up pretty quickly, though, and now he seems mad. Lars Coverdale just tried to use his own move against him, and now David Wright Hubbard hauls him up and whips him into the ropes. Lars Coverdale comes off... and David Wright Hubbard nails him with a SUPERKICK!! Lars Coverdale goes down, flattened by that huge move, and David Wright Hubbard stands over him, smirking; he just used one of Lars Coverdale's signature moves against him, just as Lars attempted to do to him with the flying cross bodypress. Lars Coverdale appears to be out of it, and David Wright Hubbard pulls him up into a standing headscissors, then lifts... POWER BOMB!! That may have done it! David Wright Hubbard goes for the cover, and Linda Peterson counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... David Wright Hubbard pulls him up at two!! He's not done yet!

David Wright Hubbard pulls Lars Coverdale up and lifts him by the throat... CHOKESLAM!! Lars Coverdale crashes hard to the mat, and this match is probably ready to be ended at any time David Wright Hubbard wants to end it. David Wright Hubbard glares at Lars Coverdale and stomps down at him a few times, then steps out to the apron. He stops to yell at some fans at ringside, then climbs up to the top turnbuckle. He's perched up there, waiting on Lars Coverdale to get up. Lars begins to stand, and David Wright Hubbard comes off with the FLYING CROSS BODYPRESS!! But Lars Coverdale collapses back down to the mat before he connects, and David Wright Hubbard flies over him and crash-lands on the mat, tumbling into referee Linda Peterson! Linda Peterson staggers back and falls, and she hits the back of her head on the bottom turnbuckle in the far corner!

She seems a little bit shaken by that fall, and now both David Wright Hubbard and Lars Coverdale are getting up.... but Michelle Hubbard just slid into the ring with a chair! She rushes at Lars Coverdale and swings at him, but he ducks under it, and she clobbers David Wright Hubbard! She throws down the chair, cursing to herself, and Lars Coverdale grabs her and kisses her square on the mouth! She squirms in his grasp, and he finally releases her as David Wright Hubbard gets up! He's doubled over, standing over the discarded chair, and Lars Coverdale hooks a leg over his head... ROCKER DROPPER ON THE CHAIR!! He rolls David Wright Hubbard over and kicks the chair aside, and Linda Peterson is up now! Michelle Hubbard rolls out of the ring, muttering and cursing, and Lars Coverdale hops up to one of the top turnbuckles and leaps off with the FROG SPLASH!! He connects, and hooks a leg for the cover! Linda Peterson counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... THREE!! Lars Coverdale just beat David Wright Hubbard!!

Lars Coverdale pinned David Wright Hubbard with the Frog Splash in 0:12:07.
Rating: ** 3/4

Lars Coverdale gets up off of the mat, raising his hands in victory, jumping around and grandstanding as if he just won the VCW World Title... and make no mistake, he did just pick up a huge win over a former VCW World Champion, thanks to Michelle's misguided chairshot! But now he rolls out of the ring and goes over to Michelle, coming up from behind and grabbing her butt! She turns around, and her mouth opens angrily to say something to him... and he grabs her and kisses her again before she can get any words out! It doesn't seem like Lars Coverdale even realizes that she DIDN'T mean to help him in this match! He releases her from his embrace, but then raises her hand and points to her with a smile on his face, as if sharing credit for the victory with her!

Michelle pulls her hand away from Lars and glares at him, and he just shrugs and smiles, and begins making his way backstage, still celebrating his victory. Michelle Hubbard climbs into the ring as David Wright Hubbard gets up, and she seems to be trying to apologize to him! He turns to her angrily and begins lecturing her, pointing a finger in her face as he speaks... and she glares at him, then swats his hand aside! David Wright Hubbard's eyes widen in rage, and he leans in close, shouting at Michelle, but she shouts right back at him, then shoves him back! He yells something at her, then draws back his hand and slaps her!!

The crowd lets out an "oooh", and Michelle puts a hand to the side of her face in shock... but then the other hand balls up into a fist at her side as her face hardens in anger! David Wright Hubbard steps forward, still yelling at her... and she draws back and punches him square in the face! David Wright Hubbard is rocked back, but then he retaliates with a punch of his own, and the two begin trading blows in the middle of the ring!! David Wright Hubbard seems to be getting the better of it, but then Michelle kicks him in the groin to double him over, then hooks his head and brings him down with a DDT!! Michelle Hubbard just took down her husband with a DDT!!

David Wright Hubbard flops over onto his back, and Michelle Hubbard straddles him and begins talking trash, but he reaches up and grabs her by the throat!! She grabs him back as he tries to roll her off of him, and the two begin rolling around on the mat, hands at each other's throats, as the crowd laughs and cheers!! Finally, the H.A.R.P. Squad begins coming out of the backstage entrance, and they pull David and Michelle Hubbard apart, as they kick and squirm and continue yelling at each other. They're a husband and wife, but they have to have the H.A.R.P. Squad keep them apart to stop them from beating the hell out of each other! The H.A.R.P. Squad finally seperates them and begins escorting them backstage, but let's not let this overshadow the outcome of the match; Lars Coverdale goes home tonight with a big victory over David Wright Hubbard, a former VCW World Champion.

We're going onto our next match now... and what a match it'll be. "Denial" by Sevendust begins playing over the arena sound system, and a deafening mix of cheers and boos comes forth from the crowd as Gabriel Black steps out of the backstage entrance, dressed to wrestle for the first time since Wrestlewar III! For all that his ego and vindicative personality have set him apart from many fans, we have to give him credit... he's making a courageour comeback from a nearly career-ending injury, and he is one of the greatest wrestlers in VCW history. He has an amazing won-loss record that will probably never be surpassed or equalled, and when he says he can defeat almost anybody in a fair match, with no interference or illegal tactics, he's telling the absolute truth. Gabriel Black walks slowly to the ring, ignoring the cheers and boos of the fans, then climbs inside and tests the ropes, becoming familiar once again with the territory that he ruled for so long prior to his injury.

But now, here comes his opponent, the man whom he will challenge for the VCW Television Title... "Woke Up This Morning" by Alabama Three begins playing, and that brings out Brujah, as the crowd gives a surprisingly large ovation, albeit with a few boos mixed in, for his arrival!! Brujah walks to the ring with the VCW Television Title belt around his waist, and he's staring inside at Gabriel Black the whole way. Let's give him credit; he has beaten former World Champions before. He holds victories over Falcon and the Grave Digger, and it's entirely possible that he could defeat Gabriel Black here tonight. He steps into the ring and hands the VCW Television Title belt off to referee Brendan Powers, who holds it up, then hands it to the timekeeper. Brujah leans back in a corner, watching Gabriel Black like a hawk, and Brendan Powers calls for the bell to begin this match, Gabriel Black's first match in over six months!!

For the VCW Television Title:

Brujah (c)

vs.

Gabriel Black

Gabriel Black moves in cautiously, and rightly so. He's probably a little bit rusty after his time off, and he doesn't want to make a mistake against Brujah. Finally, they meet with a lockup in the middle, and Brujah powers Gabriel Black backwards into a corner. Brendan Powers orders a clean break, and Brujah breaks... but Gabriel nails him with a kick to the midsection! He hammers Brujah with a right hand, but Brujah absorbs it, then returns fire with a punch of his own! They trade blows, and Brujah gets the upper hand, rocking Gabriel Black back in the corner with a series of hard punches! He whips Gabriel Black to the other corner, and Gabriel collides back-first with the turnbuckles and staggers out... into a big backdrop!! He lands on his back and sits up, putting a hand to his back and yelling out in pain!

Brujah advances on Gabriel Black, who scoots backwards on his butt, holding his hands in a "T" to signal for a time-out, but Brujah's not going to give him one. Brujah stomps down at him a few times, then hauls him up by the hair into a front chancery, and brings him down with a huge snap suplex! Gabriel Black starts to get up, favoring his back again, but Brujah backs into the ropes, then rushes forward and drills him with a Yakuza kick to the head!! Gabriel Black goes down again, to a burst of cheers from the crowd, then rolls out of the ring. He's taking a break on the outside... but it won't be a very long break, because Brujah's climbing out after him!!

Gabriel Black turns to face Brujah and throws a punch, but Brujah blocks it, then hammers Gabriel with a punch of his own and whips him into the guardrail! Gabriel Black hits the rail back-first, then staggers out, wincing in pain, and Brujah rushes forward and drills him with a huge lariat!! Gabriel Black's down, in a world of hurt, and Brujah scoops him up, then rams him back-first into the steel ringpost! Gabriel Black cries out in pain, and Brujah rolls him back into the ring, then climbs in after him. That could come back to haunt him; Brujah may have been better off keeping it on the outside, where he can't lose the title, and where the chaotic environment is more suited to his brawling style.

On the inside of the ring, Gabriel Black gets up, wincing in agony and putting a hand to his back. Brujah advances on him ruthlessly, clobbering him with a few forearms to the back, then whipping him back-first into a corner. Gabriel Black staggers out, and Brujah rushes him with a lariat, but this time Gabriel Black ducks, then reaches back, grabs Brujah's head, and pulls him back into a reverse neckbreaker!! That's literally the first offensive move that Gabriel Black's gotten in all match! They both stay down for a few seconds, then start getting up... but Gabriel Black stuns Brujah with a poke to the eyes, then takes him head-first into a turnbuckle! Brujah staggers back from the corner, and Gabriel Black slips behind him, then lifts and takes him down with a belly-to-back suplex!!

Gabriel Black winces and clutches his back as he gets up; evidently the strain of lifting Brujah didn't do any favors for his back. He's taken a lot of abuse there so far, and it was a back injury that nearly forced him into retirement after the beating he took at Wrestlewar III. Relentless as always, Brujah starts getting up, but Gabriel Black nails him with an elbow to the back of the neck, then knees him in the midsection and takes him down with a snap mare. Brujah lands in a sitting position, and Gabriel Black measures him for a split second, then kicks him right in the back of the neck! Brujah clutches at it in pain, and Gabriel Black pulls him up, then runs into the ropes and comes off to take him down with a swinging neckbreaker! We've seen this kind of offense before from Gabriel Black; he loves to target his opponent's neck in a match, and we know he'd love to put Brujah on the shelf with the Destiny Driver.

Brujah starts to get up, but Gabriel Black grabs him by the head in a side headlock, then whips him to the mat with a headlock takedown and keeps the headlock applied. He's grinding down on it, trying to wear out Brujah's neck, and it may be a simple move, but it's quite effective in wearing Brujah down. But Brujah doesn't want to stay down... he's fighting it, and powering up to his feet! He gets to his feet, grabs Gabriel Black by the waist, and goes for a belly-to-back suplex, but Gabriel Black flips out behind him! Brujah goes for a back elbow, but Gabriel Black ducks, and Brujah just spins in his grasp... and Gabriel Black lifts Brujah, then falls back to drop him throat-first across the top rope with a Hotshot!

Brujah pulls himself up using the ropes, but Gabriel Black's waiting on him, and he rushes forward and nails him with a dropkick that sends him spilling out through the ropes to the floor!! Brujah's down on the outside, and Gabriel Black climbs up to the top turnbuckle as he gets up! Brujah turns to face Gabriel Black... and Gabriel Black jumps out onto him with a FLYING CLOTHESLINE!! He just mowed Brujah down at ringside!! The crowd can't contain a few cheers for Gabriel Black, despite their support being largely with Brujah in this match. After a few seconds, Gabriel Black gets up, then pulls Brujah up by the hair. He tries to ram his head into the apron, but Brujah blocks, then elbows Gabriel Black in the ribs and takes him into the apron instead!! Gabriel Black goes down!

Now Brujah's reaching under the ring... and he pulls out a table! With the condition of Gabriel's back, if he goes through that table, it could just about finish him off. Brujah seems to be thinking the same thing, because he sets up the table, then clobbers Gabriel Black with a few forearms to the back and pulls him into a standing headscissors in front of the table. He goes to lift him, but Gabriel Black blocks, then counters with a double-leg takedown! He probably didn't have the strength in his back for a backdrop, but that worked well enough. He holds Brujah's legs spread... and drops a knee into his crotch!! Brujah yells out in pain and curls up on the floor, and the crowd boos, but Gabriel Black just smiles through the pain in his back and stomps down at Brujah a few times.

Gabriel Black pulls the table next to the apron, then places Brujah on it and rolls back into the ring to break the count. Gabriel steps out onto the apron, near the table, and he pulls Brujah into a standing headscissors! He lifts him up with obvious effort, and leaps off... PILEDRIVER THROUGH THE TABLE!! What a move that was!! That should just about end this match! Brujah went through that table from the apron with a devestating piledriver, and even he may have trouble coming back from that!! But they're both down, as Gabriel Black recovers from the effort he spent on the move and the jarring it gave to his back.

Finally, Gabriel Black gets up, once again smiling through the pain in his back, and rolls Brujah back into the ring. Brujah's lying face-down on the mat... and Gabriel Black leaps up to the top rope, then springs off with a springboard legdrop to the back of Brujah's neck!! Brujah thrashes around on the mat, and Gabriel Black rolls him over and covers him! This could do it, as Brendan Powers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... Shoulder up at two and a half by Brujah!! Unbelievably, he's still in this match!! Brujah may be one of the toughest competitors in VCW.

Gabriel Black just sneers down at him as he gets up, then stomps at the back of his neck a few times and pulls him up. He tries to lift Brujah upside-down for the Destiny Driver, but the pain in his back seems to be giving him trouble, and Brujah squirms out behind him!! Gabriel Black whirls around to face him, but Brujah drills him with a right hand to the face! He backs Gabriel Black into the ropes with a series of right hands, then whips him to the other side and rushes forward, mowing him down with a huge LARIAT as he comes off the ropes!! Gabriel Black's down, and Brujah drops to his knees, rubbing his neck and trying to shake off the recent punishment he's taken.

Gabriel Black's getting up again, and Brujah stands to meet him, clobbering him in the back a few times, then scoops him up and goes for a bodyslam, but Gabriel Black counters it with a small package!! Brendan Powers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... Kickout at two by Brujah!! They get up, and Brujah rushes Gabriel Black, but is quickly taken down with a drop-toe hold, from which Gabriel Black flows into a side headlock!! The crowd boos as he clamps it on, grinding at Brujah's neck, but Brujah's refusing to stay down! He starts fighting his way back to his feet, and he grabs Gabriel Black, then lifts him and brings him down crotch-first on one of the top turnbuckles!! Gabriel Black's left on the top turnbuckle, facing the crowd, and Brujah starts climbing up behind him! Brujah hooks him for a belly-to-back superplex, but Gabriel Black throws a back elbow, catching him squarely on the jaw and knocking him back off of the turnbuckles. Brujah gets to his feet as Gabriel Black straightens himself on the turnbuckles... and Gabriel leaps off with a MOONSAULT BODYPRESS!! Brujah goes down under him, and Gabriel Black holds the cover! Brendan Powers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... THR... Kickout at two and three-quarters by Brujah!!

Gabriel Black gets up, putting his hand to his back, but smiling as he feels victory close at hand. He pulls Brujah up and whips him into the ropes, then rushes him with a clothesline... but Brujah ducks under it! Gabriel Black turns around... into a kick to the midsection! Brujah hooks him... DOUBLE ARM DDT!! The crowd explodes into cheers!! Gabriel Black has had a lot of opportunity to become familiar with getting hit by that move, and Brujah just took him down with it again! And now Brujah steps out to the apron, and ascends to the top turnbuckle! He raises his arms in a "V", then leaps off with a SWANDIVE HEADBUTT!! Gabriel Black's father, "Superstar" Sean Black, used to use that move frequently, and Brujah just connected on Gabriel Black with it! He crawls across him and hooks a leg for the cover, and Brendan Powers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... THR... Kickout at two and three-quarters by Gabriel Black!!

Brujah glares at Gabriel Black, then straddles him and begins raining punches down on him. Brendan Powers orders him to stop that, so he gets up... and pulls Gabriel Black up into a standing headscissors! He's going for the Power Bomb!! He pauses for a moment, as the crowd cheers in anticipation, then lifts Gabriel Black... but Gabriel Black counters with a Frankensteiner!! And he stays on top, cradling Brujah's legs, as Brendan Powers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... THR... Brujah flips him over into a sunset flip position at two and three-quarters! Brendan Powers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... Gabriel Black rolls backwards out of the pin, then backs into a corner and boosts himself up to the top turnbuckle as Brujah gets up! Brujah rushes forward, but he's too late as Gabriel Black takes flight for the DESTINY HAMMER!! But Brujah manages to dodge out of the way, and Gabriel Black misses!

Gabriel Black lands on his feet from the Destiny Hammer attempt, but Brujah whirls on him with a huge lariat!! But Gabriel Black ducks, then kicks Brujah in the midsection and whips him into the ropes... no, Brujah reverses it and puts his head down for a backdrop!! But he telegraphs it too much, and Gabriel Black comes off and hooks his head, then hooks his leg and snaps him back with a FISHERMAN SUPLEX!! He holds the bridge, and Brendan Powers counts... ONE!! ... TWO!! ... THREE!! Gabriel Black wins!! We have a new VCW Television Champion!!

Gabriel Black pinned Brujah after a fisherman suplex in 0:15:10.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Gabriel Black won the VCW Television Title.)

Gabriel Black rolls out of the ring, clearly in pain, but smiling and raising his hands high above his head in victory as he heads to the timekeeper's table. He takes down the straps of his singlet, then grabs the VCW Television Title and points to it, as Brujah gets up in the ring and fixes him with a furious stare. It doesn't look like Gabriel Black's going to get back in the ring and finish the job, as he had said he would do; Brujah's up again, and he doesn't look like he needs much of an excuse to tear into Gabriel Black again.

Gabriel Black raises the title high in the air to a chorus of boos from the fans, then begins backing up the entrance ramp, never taking his eyes off of Brujah, who remains in the ring, staring hatefully at him from inside. It was still very much anyone's fight, but the fact is that Brujah was just outwrestled by Gabriel Black, and as a result his lengthy VCW Television Title reign has come to an end at 181 days... just three days short of beating Devaccio Pola's old 184-day record Television Title reign. Judging by the hate burning behind Brujah's eyes, he's not going to forget this soon... but Gabriel Black, smiling and holding the VCW Television Title as he leaves through the backstage entrance, has made a triumphant return to active competition.
