Results of VCW 08/07/02: Komachi pinned The Pink Kitten after a flying elbowdrop in 0:05:18. Rating: * ---Notes: This match was changed from the planned Pink Kitten/Rachel Helms series after an earlier injury to Helms. Pretty much an extended squash for Komachi. The Wrecking Crew defeated The New Immortals when Uldwall pinned Danson after the Breakdown in 0:15:23. Rating: ** 1/4 ---Notes: Long-running match that shifted between comedy and seriousness frequently. The Wrecking Crew had their working boots on tonight, but still did perhaps too much clowning. Russel Taylor pinned Dave Adams with the Power Bomb in 0:05:17. Rating: * ---Notes: Unremarkable, if solid, squash match. Monty Pompous pinned Brian Rivera after a choke slam in 0:08:08. Rating: * 1/4 ---Notes: Both Monty Pompous and Brian Rivera seemed inclined to brawl and phone this one in. The Technicians (Owen Addison, Paul Canyon and Tim Bell) defeated The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Julian Page) and Brujah when O. Addison pinned Idol with the Tombstone in 0:18:16. Rating: ** 1/4 ---Notes: Good match with a hot finish, though Brujah's limitations stood out clearly in the ring with so many great wrestlers. Christina Ellis and Virginia battled to a double countout in 0:11:50. Rating: 1/2* ---Notes: The main highlight of this disappointing brawl was Christina Ellis bumping nicely for Virginia, who blew up early and bearhugged her way through a twelve-minute match. Johnny Smiles, Ken Collins and Lars Coverdale defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) and David Wright Hubbard when J. Smiles pinned B. Manson with the Smiledriver in 0:18:44. Rating: * 3/4 ---Notes: Average match; everybody looked decent, but Ken Collins and David Wright Hubbard didn't seem inclined to repeat their performance from a few days earlier, and the others gave it their typical house show performance. Darren Michaels and Bass Rogers defeated Lance Errington and Chris Champlain when B. Rogers pinned C. Champlain after a power bomb in 0:12:49. Rating: * 1/2 ---Notes: Pretty much a Cliff's Notes version of their 8/4 tag match, though this one was a bit better as it didn't force Michaels and Rogers to fill quite as much time. The Grave Digger defeated Crimson by disqualification in 0:16:42. Rating: -** 3/4 (Crimson retained the VCW World Title.) ---Notes: Disappointing brawl. The Grave Digger seems unmotivated as his VCW tenure winds down, and Crimson didn't exactly try to pick up the slack. Lance Errington ran in and hit the Grave Digger with a pipe wrench for the finish, but then the Digger sat up in the midst of a two-on-one beating and proceeded to grab the wrench and clean house, chokeslamming Derek Cole to a pop from the crowd.
