Results of VCW 08/19/01: The New Immortals defeated The Wrecking Crew when M. Lazzario pinned Blade with the Immortalplex in 0:13:59. Rating: ** --Notes: This match was much the same here as in it has been in the past, but both teams put in a little bit of effort to make this more than one of their typical comedy matches. Russel Taylor and Tommy Hustle defeated Dave Adams and Monty Pompous when Russel the Muscle pinned Doctor Dave with the Power Bomb in 0:06:18. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: This was largely a bunch of aimless brawling. In the end, Dave Adams was isolated when Brian Rivera ran to the ring and laid out Monty Pompous with a steel chair. After this match, Brian Rivera got on the microphone and laid out an open challenge, and out came an unknown man in a skeleton costume, wearing a red scarf and red boots. Tom Guycot pinned Brian Rivera with the Skullicide in 0:08:00. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: The unknown challenger to Brian Rivera was Tom Guycot, a new recruit to VCW. The crowd didn't know quite what to make of him, but he showed some decent, if unspectacular skills against Brian Rivera, finally bringing him down with an Onita-style DDT from the second rope, which he calls the Skullicide. Chris Champlain, David Wright Hubbard, Komachi and Virginia defeated Christina Ellis, Ken Collins, Lars Coverdale and The Pink Kitten when D.W. Hubbard pinned Kitten after a power bomb in 0:19:16. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: Though filled with great workers, this match didn't click well at all, and ended up as largely a random brawl and spotfest. Ken Collins held out for a while, being the only top-tier wrestler on his team, but eventually the odds overcame them and they were outclassed. In the end, the Pink Kitten came in on a hot tag and started taking Virginia down, but David Wright Hubbard tagged himself in and mauled her for the victory. The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Julian Page) defeated The Technicians (Owen Addison and Tim Bell) when J. Page pinned T. Bell with the Swan Song in 0:16:54. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: Addison/Bell isn't quite the Ontario Colour Show, Idol/Page isn't quite Idol/Solomon, and this match wasn't quite up to the epic standards of those two teams. Unable to recapture the magic of the Ontario Colour Show, Tim Bell and Owen Addison fell prey to the underhanded tactics and methodical assault of the Hammer of the Gods, who seemed far more comfortable working as a tag team. Non-Title-Match: Brujah pinned Paul Canyon with the Power Bomb in 0:16:26. Rating: ** 1/4 --Notes: Jennie was at ringside for this match, cheering Paul Canyon on, and that seemed to visibly disturb Brujah. Paul Canyon gave him a tough fight, nearly winning on several occasions, but Brujah kept relentlessly getting back up and assaulting Paul Canyon, and finally he was able to Power Bomb him for the victory. After the match, Jennie tried to say something to Brujah, but he just walked away. The Tough Customers defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) when B. Rogers defeated B. Manson by disqualification in 0:12:26. Rating: DUD (The Tough Customers retained the VCW World Tag Team Titles.) --Notes: The Tough Customers fared pretty well against Hell's Bikers in this rematch, using a lot of energetic, stiff brawling to take the edge in this match. Seeing that Jack and Butch were moments away from another loss, Crimson ran to the ring and clobbered Darren Michaels, then grabbed Bass Rogers and Chokeslammed him, getting his team disqualified immediately. After the match, they executed a three-on-two attack on the Tough Customers until Johnny Smiles and the Grave Digger ran down for the save. Crimson and Lance Errington defeated Johnny Smiles and The Grave Digger when Crimson pinned J. Smiles with the Chokeslam in 0:14:45. Rating: * --Notes: After Johnny Smiles and the Grave Digger chased Jack Norman and Butch Manson to the back, Lance Errington came out to fight the Grave Digger, and this match was born. Crimson and the Grave Digger each tended to dominate their much smaller opponents in this match, but Lance Errington and Johnny Smiles, and the two big men, seemed evenly matched against each other. Finally, Lance Errington and the Grave Digger ended up brawling in the aisle, and Derek Cole handed Lance Errington a pipe wrench, which he used to take the Grave Digger down. Lance Errington put the Grave Digger in the Scorpion Deathlock on the floor, leaving Johnny Smiles alone in the ring against Crimson. Johnny didn't last very long after that.
