Results of VCW 08/21/01: Pauline Vietjohn pinned Heather Dannon with the Leap of Faith in 0:04:34. Rating: * --Notes: This was a nice little short match between two rookie wrestlers. Pauline Vietjohn executed a few impressive aerial spots and bumped well, and Heather Dannon wrestled a competent, though more ground-based match. A reasonably good match might have resulted had they been given more time. Pauline Vietjohn won with a senton bomb that she calls the Leap of Faith. Russel Taylor and Tommy Hustle defeated Dave Adams and Tom Guycot when Russel the Muscle defeated Doctor Dave by disqualification in 0:05:26. Rating: -3/4* --Notes: Nobody's quite sure yet what to make of Tom Guycot. He didn't do much for this match, as his offense came off as rather lame. Russel Taylor and Tommy Hustle put in some effort, but Dave Adams sleepwalked his way through this match, and finally Chris Champlain ran out to attack Russel Taylor, causing a disqualification. Post-match, Chris Champlain laid all four men out with a steel chair. Manson via the Top-Rope Frankensteiner in 0:14:59 Rating: 1/2* --Notes: This match was a mess. The New Immortals and Wrecking Crew tried their usual comedy routines, but Hell's Bikers and the Technicians seemed intent on having a more competitive match, and none of it clicked. Monty Pompous pinned Brian Rivera with the Swashbuckler in 0:05:11. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: These two men met in a rollicking brawl, and though Monty Pompous wasn't able to keep up with Brian Rivera's wrestling ability, he bumped him all around the ring with a lot of powerful moves and brawling, culminating in a victory with the Swashbuckler. Owen Addison pinned Jacob Idol with the Tombstone in 0:13:26. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: Neither of these two men seemed to be completely "on" today, with a couple of wrestling exchanges that seemed to go nowhere and end in confusion. Eventually, Jacob Idol fell back into his by-the-numbers match against Owen Addison, but that didn't work out for him so well, as Owen Addison outwrestled him and picked up the victory. Virginia pinned The Pink Kitten with the Virgin Sacrifice in 0:06:45. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: The Pink Kitten got in a lot of hit-and-run offense, but Virginia managed to absorb it and retaliate, tossing the Pink Kitten around and beating her mercilessly. After a last-ditch comeback, the Pink Kitten fell prey to Virginia's dominant offense and was beaten. Julian Page pinned Lars Coverdale with the Swan Song in 0:14:21. Rating: *** 1/4 --Notes: Lars Coverdale gave Julian Page quite a fight in the early goings of this match, using a lot of high-flying offense, but Julian Page put a quick stop to that by working over his right leg to slow him down. Julian Page got in a good assault on Lars's leg and kept control with his usual rascally heel tactics. Lars made one last good comeback, but with his leg weakened he wasn't able to use his offense to full effect, and fell victim to a kick to the knee, followed by the Swan Song. The Grave Digger and Ken Collins defeated Lance Errington and Brujah when Digger pinned L. Errington with the Burial in 0:14:46. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: Though the focus of this match was the Grave Digger and Lance Errington battling each other, Brujah showed no shortage of intensity in attacking both of their opponents. Aside from some brief technical wrestling with Ken Collins and Lance Errington, this was an all-out brawl, with the Grave Digger dominating the smaller men for most of it. In the end, Ken Collins locked Brujah in the California Crossface as the Grave Digger planted Lance Errington with the Burial and pinned him. The Tough Customers defeated Crimson and Chris Champlain when B. Rogers pinned C. Champlain after a power bomb in 0:15:52. Rating: 1/2* (The Tough Customers retained the VCW World Tag Team Titles.) --Notes: Chris Champlain served admirably as a punching bag for the Tough Customers early on, and brought a lot of focus to this match by isolating Darren Michaels and trying to soften up his leg for the Texas Cloverleaf. But when Bass Rogers got the tag, all hell broke loose, and the Tough Customers ended up g getting the better of the ensuing brawl, with Bass Rogers winning with a power bomb. After the match, Crimson grabbed a shovel from under the ring and used it to lay out both Bass Rogers and Darren Michaels. The crowd was rather unhappy at this low note on which the show ended.
