Results of VCW 08/26/01: Pauline Vietjohn pinned Heather Dannon with the Leap of Faith in 0:04:20. Rating: 1/4* --Notes: Once again, the two rookies of VCW's women's roster put in a lot of effort, but their lack of experience resulted in several mistakes, and it's clear that neither is anything approximating a seasoned veteran yet. While Heather Dannon's offense was simple and basic, it was also more crisp and accurate than Pauline Vietjohn's high-flying offense, which was often sloppy and haphazard. Nevertheless, Pauline's big moves put Heather away at the end. Russel Taylor and Tommy Hustle defeated Chris Champlain and Dave Adams when Russel the Muscle pinned Doctor Dave with the Power Bomb in 0:07:10. Rating: * 1/4 --Notes: This match was noticably more intense and well-executed than previous meetings betweeh this combination of workers. Everyone was looking to pick up a win, but the hard work of Russel Taylor and Tommy Hustle managed to override the viciousness of Chris Champlain and the sneaky tactics of Dave Adams, as Russel cleaned house on a hot tag at the end. Tommy Hustle wiped out Chris Champlain with a dive to the outside, and Nurse Vivacia tried to distract Russel by flashing her bra at him, but to no avail; he maintained his focus and put away Dave Adams with his Power Bomb. Non-Title-Match: Brujah pinned Tom Guycot with the Power Bomb in 0:07:18. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: Tom Guycot showed some promise, outwrestling Brujah with his somewhat strange offense and keeping him off-guard for much of the match. But Brujah, despite his other limitations, is always vicious and hard to keep down, and his aggression and tenacity kept him in the match until he finally managed to clobber Tom Guycot. From there, he hit a few big, brutal moves, culminating in his Power Bomb for the win. Four Corners Match: The Wrecking Crew defeated The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Julian Page), The New Immortals and The Technicians (Paul Canyon and Tim Bell): x Idol beat Danson via an inverted DDT in 0:11:09 x Page beat T. Bell via referee stop in 0:15:01 x Blade beat Idol via the Breakdown in 0:20:56 Tim Bell suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately 2 cards. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: These four teams had their working shoes on tonight, and the match was hot from the opening bell, as the competitors gave it their all to emerge from this match as the top tag team. The New Immortals were out first, and the Hammer of the Gods was looking to eliminate the Technicians, when Tim Bell took a rather awkward bump for Julian Page's DDT, and laid prone on the mat even after Paul Canyon's save broke up the pin. Referee Brendan Powers acted quickly to flag down the trainers and get Tim Bell out of the ring, and the match continued somewhat awkwardly, as it seemed nobody had counted on that. After a few more minutes, the Wrecking Crew returned to form, taking down the Hammer of the Gods with some of their explosive offense and winning this match in grand fashion. Virginia and Brian Rivera defeated Johnny Smiles and The Pink Kitten when Virginia pinned Kitten with the Virgin Sacrifice in 0:06:43. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: The ineffective doltishness of Brian Rivera was minimized in this match, as Stormy Weathers's interference paid off several times to keep Johnny and the Pink Kitten on the defensive. Johnny Smiles looked to have the match won with a hot flurry of offense, but that was cut off when Stormy Weathers passed Brian Rivera a pair of brass knuckles, which he used to wallop Johnny. Johnny survived, and managed to make the tag seconds later after Brian Rivera missed a flying legdrop. The Pink Kitten came in on a hot tag, and was very successful at first, but Virginia finally got her hands on her and destroyed her for the finish. Monty Pompous pinned Lars Coverdale after a superplex in 0:14:32. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: This match consisted almost entirely of Lars Coverdale bumping wildly for Monty Pompous or Lars Coverdale hitting Monty Pompous with high-flying offense. But despite the fast-paced action, this match seemed to go too long, as neither man really seemed to know what to do beyond hitting random moves on the other. In the end, Lars Coverdale rallied, hitting a superkick on Monty Pompous, who accidentally took Linda Peterson down in the fall. Lars went for the Frog Splash, but David Wright Hubbard came out of the crowd as he went to the top turnbuckle and whacked him with a chair, causing him to fall crotch- first on the turnbuckle. Monty Pompous and Linda Peterson got up, none the wiser, and Monty Pompous finished Lars off by bringing him down with a big superplex. The Tough Customers defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) when B. Rogers pinned B. Manson after a power bomb in 0:11:53. Rating: 1/4* (The Tough Customers retained the VCW World Tag Team Titles.) --Notes: This was an intense brawl between some of VCW's toughest men, but in spite of the intensity, it was ultimately just four brawlers beating on each other until somebody gave out. The energy and INNER FURY of the Tough Customers was the prevailing factor here, and in the end Bass Rogers went nuts and flattened both opponents, finishing Butch Manson with a huge power bomb. Four Corners Match: Crimson defeated Ken Collins, Lance Errington and The Grave Digger: x double countout (L. Errington and Digger) in 0:11:18 x Crimson beat K. Collins via the Chokeslam in 0:28:40 Rating: ** (Crimson retained the VCW World Title.) --Notes: As has been the case before, Lance Errington and the Grave Digger got carried away in this match, and ended up being counted out as they brawled on the outside. That left Ken Collins and Crimson to face off in an epic battle, with Crimson struggling to hit Ken Collins with enough big moves to put him out of commission, and Ken Collins avoiding Crimson's power offense while hitting him with everything in his arsenal. In the end, Crimson was simply too powerful and tough; he kicked out of the Flying Dropkick and struggled to the ropes in the California Crossface, but Ken Collins barely survived a massive power bomb, and the Chokeslam that followed put him away for good.
