Results of VCW 09/03/01: Pauline Vietjohn pinned Mary Cohen with the Leap of Faith in 0:04:08. Rating: * 1/4 --Notes: Mary Cohen, the worker who has portrayed "General Caurillia" in the Sophie sketches, wrestled a more conventional match against Pauline Vietjohn. Cohen actually seemed a bit better as an all-around worker, but Pauline Vietjohn stole the show and the victory with her aerial skills. Jockey Oldcastle and Monty Pompous defeated Brian Rivera and Karak when Monty pinned B. Rivera with the Swashbuckler in 0:08:02. Rating: -* --Notes: Jockey Oldcastle was brought in to replace Tom Guycot when Guycot was needed as Chris Champlain's replacement in another match. Karak, a California worker known for violent brawls, was Brian Rivera's partner. Neither Oldcastle nor Karak were very impressive in this match, and Monty Pompous and Brian Rivera turned in their usual performance, resulting in another win for Monty Pompous. Five-Way Match: The Ontario Color Show defeated The Wrecking Crew, Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman), The New Immortals and The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Julian Page): x Uldwall beat Lazzario via the Breakdown in 0:06:36 x P. Canyon beat B. Manson via a flying forearm in 0:26:21 x P. Canyon beat Blade via the Magic Carpet Ride in 0:29:02 x P. Canyon beat Idol after the Magic Carpet Ride in 0:42:47 Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: The crowd was exceptionally hot for the reunited Ontario Colour Show as they picked up another victory here. The middling portions of this match were rather chaotic, but in the last 14 minutes the match really heated up when the Hammer of the Gods/Ontario Colour Show feud reignited in force. It's starting to appear that Julian Page is not quite as good in the Rob Solomon role as Solomon himself is, however. David Wright Hubbard, Tom Guycot and Dave Adams defeated Lars Coverdale, Russel Taylor and Tommy Hustle when D.W. Hubbard pinned Hustle with the Flying Cross Bodypress in 0:11:15. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: Tom Guycot was pulled from an earlier match to sub for Chris Champlain, who is taking time off following a somewhat overzealous bladejob at Survival of the Fittest. For a newcomer with a middling track record, he performed tolerably well here. Along with Dave Adams, Guycot shouldered most of the work in the match, covering for David Wright Hubbard with his ailing knee, but Hubbard made his presence felt strongly at the end, clearing the ring and picking up the victory by destroying Tommy Hustle. The Tough Customers and Brujah and Troy Black battled to a double countout in 0:12:18. Rating: 1/2* (The Tough Customers retained the VCW World Tag Team Titles.) --Notes: Though not a classic match, this was an intriguing confrontation. Bass Rogers and Brujah beat the living hell out of each other, and Darren Michaels contributed well alongside his veteran partner. Troy Black, with his neck in a delicate condition and fatigue rearing its head after his hour-plus match with Johnny Smiles, stayed on the apron for most of the match, and tended to confine his in-ring activities to simple, safe ones. In the end, all four men brawled wildly on the outside until they were counted out. The Grave Digger and Ken Collins defeated Gabriel Black and Lance Errington when Digger pinned L. Errington with the Burial in 0:13:08. Rating: ** --Notes: Gabriel Black showed very little signs of rust after his long absence from the ring, and kept up well with Ken Collins and the Grave Digger in this solid, but unspectacular match. The Grave Digger was very aggressive, out for revenge after being screwed over at Survival of the Fittest, and he achieved it by manhandling Gabriel Black and Lance Errington, avenging his earlier loss with a pinfall over Errington. Crimson and Virginia defeated The Pink Kitten and Johnny Smiles when Crimson pinned J. Smiles with the Chokeslam in 0:08:03. Rating: * --Notes: The majority of this match saw the Pink Kitten being tossed and bumped around the ring by Virginia, much like their confrontation at Survival of the Fittest. The Pink Kitten finally managed to turn the tide, and hot tags were made. The crowd came alive when Johnny and Crimson got in the ring, but they were to be sorely disappointed; Johnny was still fatigued from his marathon performance at Survival of the Fittest, and Crimson basically squashed him to pick up the victory for his team.
