Results of VCW 09/07/01: Pauline Vietjohn pinned Mary Cohen with the Leap of Faith in 0:05:04. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: Again, these two women faced off in a short, unremarkable contest. Pauline Vietjohn's offense was a little bit sloppier than normal, but it didn't stop her from picking up the victory once more. Monty Pompous and Jockey Oldcastle defeated Tom Guycot and Brian Rivera when Oldcastle pinned B. Rivera with the Big Splash in 0:05:12. Rating: -* --Notes: Jockey Oldcastle tried to show off his offensive arsenal a little more in this match, and it earned his team the victory, but didn't exactly thrill the fans. Monty Pompous is known to be very pleased with his team with Oldcastle, however, and is currently pushing VCW management to pair them up on-air and give them a lot of exposure and high-profile matches. Five-Way Match: The Ontario Color Show defeated The Wrecking Crew, The New Immortals, Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) and The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Julian Page): x Idol beat Lazzario via an inverted DDT in 0:05:14 x Blade beat B. Manson via the Breakdown in 0:12:31 x J. Page beat Uldwall via the Swan Song in 0:19:57 x O. Addison beat Idol via the Tombstone in 0:28:13 Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: Once again, Hell's Bikers, the New Immortals, and the Wrecking Crew were a trio of third wheels, and the Ontario Colour Show/Hammer of the Gods confrontation wasn't the epic clash between two masterful teams that many fans remember from earlier in the year. Whether this owes to the absence of Rob Solomon, or to the possibility that it truly is time for the Ontario Colour Show to part ways and move on, remains to be seen. Lars Coverdale, Russel Taylor and Tommy Hustle defeated Chris Champlain, Dave Adams and David Wright Hubbard when Russel the Muscle pinned Doctor Dave with the Power Bomb in 0:11:49. Rating: * --Notes: This was a relatively typical match for everyone involved. Chris Champlain continues to take a more limited part in the proceedings as he recovers from his injuries at Survival of the Fittest. Troy Black and Brujah defeated The Tough Customers when T. Black defeated B. Rogers by disqualification in 0:09:32. Rating: DUD (The Tough Customers retained the VCW World Tag Team Titles.) --Notes: As with previous matches, Brujah carried the bulk of the load for his team, though Troy Black was in the ring when the match came to a close. After nine minutes of brawling, Troy Black dropped Bass Rogers with the double arm DDT and hit the Black Dagger, but Gabriel Black ran down to the ring, pulled him off of a cover at the two-count, and nailed him with the VCW Television Title belt, causing a disqualification. Brujah tried to retaliate, but Gabriel Black retreated to the backstage area. The Grave Digger and Ken Collins defeated Gabriel Black and Lance Errington when Digger pinned L. Errington with the Burial in 0:14:03. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: A good, solid outing from these four again. The Grave Digger pummels Lance Errington again, and as has become a bit of a post-match ritual in the past week, he then pulled Derek Cole into the ring for a chokeslam and the Burial. Crimson and Virginia defeated Johnny Smiles and The Pink Kitten when Virginia pinned Kitten with the Virgin Sacrifice in 0:08:04. Rating: DUD --Notes: Another somewhat lopsided match where Crimson failed to show much energy or enthusiasm. Virginia took the victory this time, but the main body of the match remained an unremarkable brawl of the sort that one definitely wouldn't want to see as the main event of Wrestlewar IV. Word has it that VCW management may be coming to regret Johnny Smiles's victory at Survival of the Fittest, and they may be receptive to allowing another competitor to challenge him for the Wrestlewar IV main event spot.
