Results of VCW 09/18/01: Dave Adams pinned Tom Guycot with the Doctor's Orders in 0:05:48. Rating: 1/4* --Notes: This was a pretty regular, evenly-matched brawl, except for some goofy offense by Tom Guycot. In the end, Nurse Vivacia distracted him during a Skullicide attempt, and Dave Adams countered into the Doctor's Orders for the victory. Brian Rivera pinned Haigeikobai after a jawbreaker in 0:00:16. Rating: DUD --Notes: Brian Rivera no-sold the Brooklyn Death Grip and immediately KOed Haigeikobai with a kick to the midsection and a jawbreaker. Haigeikobai's entrance took five times as long as this match did. Triangle Match: The Wrecking Crew defeated Monty Pompous and Jockey Oldcastle and The New Immortals when Uldwall pinned M. Lazzario after the Breakdown in 0:11:43. Rating: -* 1/2 --Notes: Monty Pompous doesn't really add much to the typical Wrecking Crew vs. New Immortals comedy landscape, and Jockey Oldcastle is just fat and useless; he was out of breath from walking to the ring and never really recovered despite standing on the apron for virtually the whole match. The Wrecking Crew could care less about a couple of self-proclaimed gentleman adventurers, and beat the New Immortals in pretty typical fashion. Pauline Vietjohn pinned Mary Cohen with the Leap of Faith in 0:05:26. Rating: 1/2* --Notes: As usual, Mary Cohen's wrestling was basically competent but rather boring, and Pauline Vietjohn's offense was filled with quick, high-flying moves, some of which were executed properly. Pauline Vietjohn won, in the typical fashion for matches between these two. David Wright Hubbard, Chris Champlain and Julian Page defeated Russel Taylor, Tommy Hustle and Dean Sanders when D.W. Hubbard pinned Hustle after a power bomb in 0:09:47. Rating: * --Notes: Dean Sanders and Chris Champlain, the two former Golden Society members, were eager to beat on their opponents and one another. Despite coming back from an injury, Dean Sanders dove right in, brawling eagerly. On the other hand, David Wright Hubbard was taking it easy on his sore knee and didn't get involved in this match too heavily, but came in to annihilate Tommy Hustle and mop up at the end. Not much teamwork from either side here, but that's not surprising since both teams are filled with singles wrestlers with no common background. Johnny Smiles and Lars Coverdale defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) when J. Smiles pinned B. Manson with the Smiledriver in 0:10:06. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: This match had a few funny moments as Jack Norman tried to take a break on the apron and eat Three Musketeers candy bars there from time to time. Johnny Smiles stole one of them and got chased around the ring repeatedly during this match. Johnny and Lars eventually managed to confound their larger, tougher adversaries and pick up the victory. Triangle Match: The Ontario Colour Show defeated The Tough Customers and The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon) when O. Addison pinned Idol with the Tombstone in 0:18:52. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: Rob Solomom made his grand return to the ring here after being injured, but whether it's laziness or a consequence of his injury, he doesn't seem to be quite what he was before. The direct, violent approach of the Tough Customers doesn't work too well for them against two teams with the sort of ring strategy that the Colour Show and the Hammer of the Gods possess, and it shows here. They were too tough to be put down for the fall, but they weren't able to control the match and take the victory. Non-Title-Match: The Grave Digger defeated Gabriel Black by disqualification in 0:13:03. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: This match was similar to their recent television match, but Gabriel Black slowed it down considerably by trying to keep the Grave Digger on the mat in a side headlock several times. That strategy didn't work out too well for him, so he whacked the Digger in the head with the VCW Television Title and got disqualified. He tried to continue the beating post-match, but the Grave Digger shrugged off all of the punishment and chased him backstage. Submission Match: Ken Collins and Lance Errington battled to a draw in 0:30:00. Rating: **** 1/4 (Ken Collins retained the VCW Intercontinental Title.) --Notes: This was an unexpectedly brilliant display of wrestling prowess that one wouldn't normally see on a non-televised show. Both Lance Errington and Ken Collins were on top of their game tonight and took each other to the limit. Towards the end, Ken Collins put Lance Errington in the California Crossface, but then Rebecca Black ran out of the back and threatened Stacey Lockman with a chair. Ken Collins got up to protect her, but Lance Errington recovered, attacked him from behind, and put him in the Scorpion Deathlock. It looked as though Ken Collins would have to tap out, but he held out for half a minute or so until the time limit expired. Lance Errington thought he won when he heard the bell ring, and was furious to find out otherwise. Crimson pinned Brujah with the Chokeslam in 0:11:14. Rating: -3/4* (Crimson retained the VCW World Title.) --Notes: Crimson seemed bored and unmotivated in this match, and Brujah didn't really know what to do here. Standing toe-to-toe with Crimson in a straight-up brawl didn't work out so well for him. He went a long way on sheer aggression and viciousness, but Crimson survived the Power Bomb, the Swandive Headbutt, and a few big lariats, and managed to turn the tables and take the win with the Chokeslam.
