Results of VCW 09/19/01: Dave Adams pinned Tom Guycot with the Doctor's Orders in 0:05:44. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: This was a run-of-the-mill brawl that was a bit heavy on Tomahawk chops thanks to Tom Guycot. Dave Adams won this match when Nurse Vivacia tripped Guycot coming off the ropes, and he stumbled into the Doctor's Orders. Brian Rivera pinned Haigeikobai after an enzuigiri in 0:00:55. Rating: 1/4* --Notes: Miraculously, Haigeikobai survived longer than a second or two. He actually showed a modicum of quickness and wrestling ability by hanging in there with Brian Rivera for a full minute, and amazingly the first couple blows he took didn't quite finish him off immediately. Then he caught Brian Rivera's foot on a kick to the midsection and stood there gloating about it, and that was that. Triangle Match: Monty Pompous and Jockey Oldcastle defeated The Wrecking Crew and The New Immortals when Monty pinned M. Lazzario with the Swashbuckler in 0:07:36. Rating: -* 1/2 --Notes: Again, this could be described as a typical Wrecking Crew vs. New Immortals match that was mucked up by the presence of Monty Pompous and Jockey Oldcastle. Jockey Oldcastle is too big and oafish for any of his opponents to really do anything with, and Monty Pompous seems preoccupied with making himself look good without considering what's going on in the match. Their power advantage won the match for them this time, though. Pauline Vietjohn defeated Mary Cohen by disqualification in 0:04:57. Rating: 1/2* --Notes: Pauline Vietjohn and Mary Cohen were more or less having their usual match tonight, and it was about to end in a victory for Pauline Vietjohn when the Masked Avenger ran in and hit her with a chair, then escaped. Pauline Vietjohn still wins the match, but this time it was marred by interference. Russel Taylor, Dean Sanders and Tommy Hustle defeated David Wright Hubbard, Chris Champlain and Julian Page when Russel the Muscle pinned J. Page with the Power Bomb in 0:11:13. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: Despite a lot of viciousness and on-paper superiority from the team of Hubbard, Champlain, and Page, their opponents rose to the occasion and kept the match fairly even for a good portion of it. Tommy Hustle ran into trouble when he was isolated in the enemy corner, but he managed to make the tag to Russel Taylor, who came in to mix it up with Julian Page and surprisingly pick up a big victory. Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) defeated Johnny Smiles and Lars Coverdale when J. Norman pinned J. Smiles after a splash in 0:13:37. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: Johnny Smiles and Lars Coverdale showed more quickness and skill than their opponents here, and were well on their way to winning the match as the end drew near, but Jack Norman managed to eat a Three Musketeers candy bar when nearly defeated and Hulked Up, going on a tear and eventually taking Johnny Smiles down with the Chokeslam and finishing with a big splash. Obviously, this does not bode well for the man who's currently planned to be one-half of the Wrestlewar IV main event. Triangle Match: The Ontario Colour Show defeated The Tough Customers and The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon) when O. Addison pinned Idol with the Tombstone in 0:17:25. Rating: ** --Notes: As before, this match fails to live up to the standards expected of a Hammer of the Gods vs. Ontario Colour Show encounter. Rob Solomon is still either hindered by his injury or just lazy, and the Tough Customers were a third wheel in this match, too tough to be brought down but not cunning enough to be in the right place in the right time to pick up a victory. Non-Title-Match: The Grave Digger defeated Gabriel Black by disqualification in 0:16:10. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: The longest singles match between these two men yet saw Gabriel Black get a greater portion of offense. He surprised the spectators (and perhaps the Grave Digger as well) by using a number of high-flying moves here. It was more effective than normal, but nothing could keep the Grave Digger down, not even the belt shot that eventually got Gabriel Black disqualified. Ken Collins pinned Lance Errington after a backslide in 0:20:30. Rating: *** 3/4 (Ken Collins retained the VCW Intercontinental Title.) --Notes: Another great wrestling match between these two, fought bitterly over the VCW Intercontinental Title. The finish was somewhat similar to the end of the VCW World Title match from Spontaneous Combustion 2000, with Lance Errington's shoulder just barely staying down for the three-count in a backslide. Derek Cole got in an argument with referee Bobcat McGavin over the call, but when he shoved Bobcat, Stacey Lockman got on her hands and knees behind him, so that when Bobcat McGavin shoved him back, Derek Cole went toppling over Stacey. Lance Errington held him back from further humiliation as he yelled threats at Ken Collins. Crimson pinned Brujah with the Chokeslam in 0:11:05. Rating: -1/2* (Crimson retained the VCW World Title.) --Notes: Once again, Crimson wasn't especially motivated, and Brujah's brawling didn't lead to an impressive match or a World Title victory for him. After a brawl that was alternately intense and slow-paced, Crimson kicked out from all of Brujah's finishers and big moves, then came back and Chokeslammed him for the victory.
