Results of VCW 09/25/01: Tom Guycot pinned Dave Adams after a flying Tomahawk chop in 0:05:41. Rating: 1/2* --Notes: Once again, these two have a run-of-the-mill brawl with some occasionally silly offense from Tom Guycot. The silly offense paid off this time when he cut Dave Adams down with a flying Tomahawk chop for the victory. Brian Rivera pinned Tommy Hustle with the Bitch Slap in 0:05:12. Rating: * 1/4 --Notes: This match was pretty uneventful. Brian Rivera did his usual routine in this match, and Tommy Hustle showed off some nice moves before being put away with the Bitch Slap. Dean Sanders pinned Mr. X after a power bomb in 0:06:01. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: The lean, wiry Mr. X wore a mask so that his identity couldn't be determined. He and Dean Sanders traded stiff offensive moves in a match that was high-impact but rather low-velocity, and Dean Sanders came out on top after crushing Mr. X with a power bomb. Triangle Match: The Wrecking Crew defeated The New Immortals and The Knights of the Squared Circle when Uldwall pinned M. Lazzario after the Breakdown in 0:08:42. Rating: -* 3/4 --Notes: Another otherwise-exciting match was dragged down by the presence of Jockey Oldcastle, whose presence in the ring invariably led to slow, plodding, simple offense or lengthy restholds. The rest of the match degenerated into a disorganized brawl where everybody did the usual spots expected of them and the Wrecking Crew picked up the win. Pauline Vietjohn pinned Mary Cohen with the Leap of Faith in 0:05:06. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: Pauline Vietjohn is slowly picking up experience and honing her craft, but she has a long way to go. She can still beat Mary Cohen pretty much every time, it seems. Julian Page and Chris Champlain defeated Russel Taylor and Lars Coverdale when C. Champlain pinned Coverdale after a Frankensteiner in 0:12:16. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: The real highlights of this match came from Chris Champlain, who was usually getting dramatically bumped around by Russel Taylor or else sadistically working over his right knee, as he has done in their last several encounters. Lars Coverdale got the hot tag and came in ready for action, but when victory seemed close David Wright Hubbard ran out and pulled him throat-first across the top rope, unseen by the referee. Lars Coverdale then staggered into a Frankensteiner, and Chris Champlain held him down in a cradle for the three-count. Triangle Match: The Ontario Colour Show defeated The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon) and The Tough Customers when O. Addison pinned Idol with the Tombstone in 0:16:42. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: The Ontario Colour Show are still working their kinks out a little bit, Rob Solomon doesn't seem to be quite back in form yet, and the Tough Customers don't have much going for them beyond muscle and aggression. Outside of the Vietjohn-Cohen matches, this has become one of the most predictable outcomes on the house show circuit, and it happened again here: Owen Addison beat Jacob Idol with the Tombstone. Gabriel Black and Lance Errington defeated The Grave Digger and Johnny Smiles when G. Black pinned J. Smiles with the Destiny Hammer in 0:15:50. Rating: * 1/4 --Notes: Gabriel Black and Lance Errington were cutting a promo about driving the Grave Digger out of VCW forever, when suddenly the Grave Digger appeared in a neckbrace to challenge them one more time, with Johnny Smiles as his partner. Gabriel Black and Lance Errington isolated the Grave Digger and beat on him for a lengthy portion of the match, until he no-sold the Destiny Hammer, hit a double chokeslam, and tagged in Johnny Smiles. Johnny went on an offensive tear, but Derek Cole distracted the referee to allow Lance Errington to lay the Grave Digger out with a pipe wrench shot to the back of the neck. Left to his own devices, Johnny Smiles was brought down with the Destiny Hammer after Gabriel Black regained the advantage. Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson, Crimson and Jack Norman) defeated Troy Black, Brujah and Ken Collins when Crimson pinned Brujah with the Chokeslam in 0:23:10. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: Troy Black was barely a participant in this match, only coming in to execute a couple moves and to take part in the six-man brawl near the end. That may explain the lack of success of his team, as despite a failed moonsault from Butch Manson and some goofy candy bar shilling from Jack Norman, Crimson powered through the opposition and brought home the victory.
