Results of VCW 09/27/01: Dave Adams pinned Tom Guycot with the Doctor's Orders in 0:04:39. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: Another fairly typical match for these two that mixed brawling and basic wrestling from Dave Adams with some silliness from Tom Guycot. This time, Dave Adams side-stepped and caught Tom Guycot coming off the top turnbuckle for a flying Tomahawk chop, then hit him with the Doctor's Orders to win. Brian Rivera pinned Haigeikobai after a Hotshot in 0:00:09. Rating: DUD --Notes: Haigeikobai charged Brian Rivera, screaming wildly, and got dropped throat-first on the top rope, which made a quick end to this match. Triangle Match: The New Immortals defeated The Wrecking Crew and The Knights of the Squared Circle when Danson pinned Blade with the Minnesota Jam in 0:08:13. Rating: 1/4* --Notes: The New Immortals won this time out, with Bobby Danson pinning Blade as Monty Pompous and John Uldwall were too caught up in brawling on the outside of the ring to make the save. Jockey Oldcastle tried to break up the pin, but he was too slow to stop it before the three count. Pauline Vietjohn pinned Mary Cohen after a twisting moonsault dropkick in 0:06:21. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: Mary Cohen lasted slightly longer than she often does, and even managed to roll out of the way of the Leap of Faith. In the end, however, she still lost, after Pauline Vietjohn hit her twisting moonsault dropkick to a large pop from the crowd, then picked up the win. David Wright Hubbard, Chris Champlain and Julian Page defeated Russel Taylor, Lars Coverdale and Tommy Hustle when D.W. Hubbard pinned Coverdale with the Flying Cross Bodypress in 0:18:54. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: Russel Taylor, Tommy Hustle, and Lars Coverdale all tried hard, but David Wright Hubbard was full of inner fury as he came roaring back onto the scene. His aggression, aided by Chris Champlain's sadistic tactics and Julian Page's crafty in-ring work, brought the victory to his team when he beat Lars Coverdale down with brute force and finished him off with the Flying Cross Bodypress. Lance Errington made Dean Sanders submit to the Scorpion Deathlock in 0:12:22. Rating: *** --Notes: An entertaining mix of skillful wrestling and high-impact brawling resulted when these two former allies stepped into the ring for a one-on-one match. Dean Sanders's skills and aggressive tenacity made him nearly the equal of Lance Errington here, but that all came to an end when Derek Cole shook the ropes as he mounted the top turnbuckle. Lance Errington capitalized by bringing him down with a superplex, then hitting an Ace Crusher, then a spinebuster from which he flowed into the Scorpion Deathlock for the submission victory. Triangle Match: The Ontario Colour Show defeated The Tough Customers and The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon) when O. Addison pinned Idol with the Tombstone in 0:18:12. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: This match is pretty similar every time it takes place, and tonight was no exception. It was the usual match with the usual outcome for these three teams on the VCW house show circuit. Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson, Crimson and Jack Norman) defeated Johnny Smiles, Ken Collins and Brujah when Crimson pinned Brujah with the Chokeslam in 0:10:29. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: Johnny Smiles and Ken Collins worked well together against Hell's Bikers, and Brujah was his typical tough, aggressive self. But that didn't translate into victory against the Bikers here; Jack Norman and Butch Manson gave this match their usual performance, and in the end Crimson came in and dominated, picking up the win over Brujah. Cage Match with Special Referee Troy Black: The Grave Digger pinned Gabriel Black with the Burial in 0:28:10. Rating: *** 3/4 --Notes: Before the match, Gabriel Black announced that this would be the last time anyone would see the Grave Digger in VCW, and that their last enduring image would be to see him carried out on a stretcher after the steel cage had lifted. VCW Commissioner James Applebee came out next and introduced a special referee to keep the match fair and even: Troy Black. Gabriel Black was beside himself, but there was nothing he could do as the Grave Digger came out next and the match started. They fought bitterly for nearly a half hour, with Gabriel Black getting busted open on the cage, but doing some damage of his own when he viciously attacked the Grave Digger's neck. He delivered some amazing high spots, most notably a Destiny Hammer from the top of the cage, from which the Grave Digger kicked out after a near fall. Derek Cole somehow got his hands on the keys to the cage door, and he and Lance Errington stormed the cage, only to be taken out by Troy Black. But while that happened, Gabriel Black stopped a Grave Digger chokeslam with a low blow, then lifted him for the Destiny Driver. But he couldn't hold the Digger up for it, and he fell backwards, with the Digger landing on his feet in perfect position to muscle Gabriel Black up and give him the Burial. Troy Black made the three count, and that ended the match to a thunderous ovation from the crowd. After the match, the Grave Digger shook hands with Troy Black, then Gabriel Black and Lance Errington as well, while several other members of the VCW roster came out to applaud for him from the top of the ramp. He went around the ring shaking hands with the fans at ringside, then raised a fist in salute to the crowd one more time before finally leaving backstage.
