Results of VCW 09/28/01: Tom Guycot pinned Dave Adams with the Skullicide in 0:05:06. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: Another outing from this somewhat evenly-matched duo resulted in Tom Guycot taking home the victory after sending Dave Adams to a corner of the ring and hitting the Skullicide on him. Their house show performances have been solid, if unremarkable, and may possibly be testing grounds for a possible pay-per-view match between these two. Brian Rivera pinned Mr. X with the Bitch Slap in 0:06:41. Rating: ** --Notes: The wiry, hard-hitting Mr. X returned for another match, still under his black mask. Brian Rivera had his working boots on for the day, and despite resorting to all his usual goofy spots, he wrestled a decent, if simple match with Mr. X, before putting him away with the Bitch Slap. Triangle Match: The Wrecking Crew defeated The New Immortals and The Knights of the Squared Circle when Uldwall pinned M. Lazzario with the Breakdown in 0:07:06. Rating: 1/2* --Notes: The Wrecking Crew get back on the winning track tonight with a victory over Moy Lazzario. Quicker than Jockey Oldcastle, stronger than Moy Lazzario, and less eccentric than Monty Pompous or Bobby Danson, they seem to be the superior team of these three. Jockey Oldcastle and Monty Pompous remain undefeated in VCW, but the Wrecking Crew are earning the lion's share of the victories. The match was fairly exciting and fast-paced, except for moments when Jockey Oldcastle was in the ring. Pauline Vietjohn pinned Mary Cohen with the Leap of Faith in 0:03:05. Rating: 3/4* --Notes: Mary Cohen sure didn't last too long this time. She's pencilled in to receive a televised tryout match this Monday, but at this point it's more due to a desire to fill in for Rebecca Black (who doesn't like to wrestle on weekly televised shows) than any hope that she might be added to the roster permanently. David Wright Hubbard, Julian Page and Chris Champlain defeated Russel Taylor, Dean Sanders and Tommy Hustle when J. Page pinned Hustle with the DDT in 0:13:01. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: The bad guys win again, as Tommy Hustle--lacking either the power of Russel Taylor or the inner fury of Dean Sanders--takes the fall to an aggressive Julian Page. Dean Sanders was every bit as ruthless and grumpy as his adversaries, and Russel Taylor brought enough enthusiasm and energy to the match to make it a close battle, but it wasn't enough to snare the win this time. Triangle Match: The Ontario Colour Show defeated The Tough Customers and The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon) when O. Addison pinned Idol with the Tombstone in 0:17:16. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: Once again, these three teams deliver their standard house show fare in an exciting match that's not quite up to the standards of many Colour Show vs. Hammer of the Gods pay-per-view classics. The result, Owen Addison beating Jacob Idol, remains the same. Lance Errington and Gabriel Black defeated Ken Collins and Brujah when G. Black pinned Brujah after a fisherman suplex in 0:18:32. Rating: ** --Notes: Ken Collins and Brujah have both had their days as successful tag team wrestlers, but as a team they weren't quite up to the task of defeating Gabriel Black and Lance Errington. This probably owes to their styles of tag team wrestling being so different; after all, Brujah is worlds different from Robert Danson, and Ken Collins is nothing like Desmond. Finely-honed skill triumphed over strength and aggression in the end when Gabriel Black snared Brujah in the fisherman suplex for the victory. Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson, Crimson and Jack Norman) defeated Troy Black, Lars Coverdale and Johnny Smiles when Crimson pinned Coverdale with the Chokeslam in 0:17:05. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: Troy Black, as has been common for him recently in these matches, didn't spend much time in the ring. Johnny Smiles and Lars Coverdale tried hard, contributing some good energy to the match and holding their own with Butch Manson and Jack Norman, but Crimson was just too big and mean. At the end, he stormed into the ring and laid out everybody prior to bringing Lars Coverdale down with a Chokeslam for the victory.
