Results of VCW 10/02/01: Tom Guycot pinned Tommy Hustle with the Skullicide in 0:09:26. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: This was a fast-paced, energetic encounter, but there wasn't much drama to the match, just nine minutes of both men using their favorite moves on each other. The advantage changed hands frequently, and Tommy Hustle hit a bunch of nice aerial moves, while Tom Guycot alternated between decent, effective wrestling and goofy tactics, as he often does. In the end, he picked up the win with the Skullicide. Tom Guycot seems to do better when he's in the ring with somebody quick and agile. Christina Ellis and The Pink Kitten defeated Nurse Vivacia and Mary Cohen when Ellis pinned Vivacia after a belly-to-back suplex in 0:02:50. Rating: * --Notes: Mary Cohen herself might be able to give the Pink Kitten a fight, but the other two halves of the tag teams here pretty well sealed the deal. Christina Ellis completely outclassed Nurse Vivacia and finished her in relatively short order for her team. Brian Rivera and Marylin Silvera defeated The New Immortals when M. Silvera pinned M. Lazzario after a piledriver in 0:06:06. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: This encounter was another New Immortals comedy match, and Brian Rivera and Marylin Silvera were equally goofy in their own way. The action picked up in the last few minutes, and Marylin Silvera picked up the win over Moy Lazzario with a piledriver. The Wrecking Crew and Dean Sanders defeated The Knights of the Squared Circle and Dave Adams when D. Sanders pinned Doctor Dave after a power bomb in 0:07:18. Rating: ** --Notes: Dean Sanders seemed to have a vendetta against Dave Adams in this match, and he showed more eagerness to beat him up than he did to attack Monty Pompous, who has been a thorn in his side since the start of VCW's world tour. The Wrecking Crew proved to be more than capable of holding their own, and Dean Sanders led his tema to victory with a crushing power bomb. The Tough Customers defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) when B. Rogers pinned B. Manson after a power bomb in 0:09:34. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: All four of these men know each other pretty well, and the ensuing brawl was pretty typical for them. Butch Manson in particular put a lot of effort into this match, while Jack Norman punctuated his usual power offense with strange Three Musketeers-related antics, but that didn't help them much, and Bass Rogers defeated Butch Manson with a power bomb. The Ontario Colour Show and Johnny Smiles defeated The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol, Julian Page and Rob Solomon) when O. Addison pinned Idol with the Tombstone in 0:17:05. Rating: *** --Notes: The Ontario Colour Show and Johnny Smiles were a rather odd pairing, especially given that the Ontario Colour Show is already afflicted with internal strife over the circumstances of their reunion. One might think that the Hammer of the Gods would be able to capitalize on that, but the technical skill of the Colour Show and the enthusiasm of Johnny Smiles triumphed this time out. David Wright Hubbard pinned Lars Coverdale after a power bomb in 0:05:25. Rating: ** 1/4 --Notes: This match was relatively short and depressing for Lars Coverdale's fans, as David Wright Hubbard mauled him for the better part of five minutes and splattered him with a power bomb. Virginia and Komachi defeated Stacey Lockman and Pauline Vietjohn when Komachi pinned Pauline after a uraken in 0:03:28. Rating: * 3/4 (Virginia and Komachi retained the SJW World Tag Team Titles.) --Notes: As one might expect, this was short and violent. Virginia and Komachi absolutely tore the two smaller rookie women to shreds with barely any resistance. What little offense Stacey and Pauline got in didn't seem to faze the champions, who defended their titles with ease tonight. Non-Title Match: Gabriel Black pinned Brujah after a fisherman suplex in 0:11:09. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: This was mostly a slightly shorter version of their encounter at Survival of the Fittest, but without the title on the line. Once again, Brujah's effort and aggression couldn't surpass the sheer ability and skill of Gabriel Black, who wins handily with the fisherman suplex. Ken Collins made Lance Errington submit to the California Crossface in 0:15:26. Rating: *** 1/2 (Ken Collins retained the VCW Intercontinental Title.) --Notes: In this match, both men showed their technical prowess, inner fury, and desire for the VCW Intercontinental Title, and they wrestled a good, if predicatable match. Ken Collins targetted the shoulder of Lance Errington, and Lance Errington went after Ken Collins's legs. That kept Ken Collins from capitalizing and scoring the pin after the Flying Dropkick, but it didn't stop the California Crossface, and Ken Collins retained his title after a hard-fought battle. Troy Black and Russel Taylor defeated Crimson and Chris Champlain when T. Black pinned C. Champlain with the Black Dagger in 0:14:04. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: This was an odd pairing of wrestlers, and what made it even more odd is that the match was primarily a battle between Russel "The Muscle" Taylor and Chris Champlain, while Troy Black and Crimson stood on the apron. To Russel's credit, he managed to hold his own with Crimson while Troy Black disposed of Chris Champlain towards the end of this contest.
