Results of VCW 10/04/01: Tommy Hustle pinned Tom Guycot after a flying somersault headbutt in 0:04:46. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: This installment of the Guycot-Hustle series of matches is much like the others, except that this time Tommy Hustle wins, countering the Skullicide with an inverted atomic drop, then dropping Guycot with a jawbreaker and finishing him with an amazing flying somersault headbutt. The New Immortals defeated Brian Rivera and Marylin Silvera when Danson pinned B. Rivera with the Minnesota Jam in 0:07:15. Rating: ** 1/4 --Notes: The New Immortals are actually starting to get a winning streak going against these two, as Bobby Danson starts to carry the team much like Ken Collins did in the original Immortals. As usual, the bulk of the match was comedy, but they got serious for some hot, fast-paced action in the last few minutes. The Wrecking Crew and Dean Sanders defeated The Knights of the Squared Circle and Dave Adams when Blade pinned Doctor Dave after the Breakdown in 0:26:36. Rating: -** --Notes: This time, Dave Adams was careful to stay well away from Dean Sanders, who had to content himself with brawling with his arch-rival Monty Pompous and the fat, oafish Jockey Oldcastle. But Dave Adams didn't stay away from the Wrecking Crew, and they mauled him with some nice power offense, then defeated him with the Breakdown to win this long, grueling match. Most of the audience were happy to see it end, as this is not the sort of match that one typically wants to spend nearly a half-hour watching. The Tough Customers defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) when Darren pinned B. Manson with the Long Bomb in 0:07:36. Rating: ** --Notes: Even in defeat, Butch Manson continues to put forth a lot of effort. He seems to be trying to impress the Japanese audiences on this leg of the tour. Also impressive was Darren Michaels, who came in with a lot of fire and intensity on the hot tag and actually overpowered Hell's Bikers on the way to picking up the victory for the Tough Customers. The Ontario Colour Show and Johnny Smiles defeated The Hammer of the Gods (Jacob Idol, Julian Page and Rob Solomon) when O. Addison pinned Idol with the Tombstone in 0:12:23. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: Johnny Smiles and the Ontario Colour Show still don't mesh very well, and the Colour Show is having enough cohesion problems anyway. In spite of that, they still win this encounter with the Hammer of the Gods, thanks largely to Julian Page's single-minded obsession with Johnny Smiles and Rob Solomon not being in top form. David Wright Hubbard pinned Lars Coverdale with the Flying Cross Bodypress in 0:14:04. Rating: *** 1/4 --Notes: Lars manages to hang on just a little bit longer in each encounter with David Wright Hubbard, and each time he comes closer to victory, but he just can't quite make it. He's learning from his mistakes and showing a lot of tenacity and skill, but every time David Wright Hubbard withstands his offense long enough to hit him with one crushing move too many that seals his fate. Virginia and Komachi defeated Stacey Lockman and Pauline Vietjohn when Virginia pinned Pauline after a power bomb in 0:03:17. Rating: * 3/4 (Virginia and Komachi retained the SJW World Tag Team Titles.) --Notes: Stacey and Pauline got slaughtered by the champions again tonight. It's been said that Virginia and Komachi have devestated all of the competition they've faced, to the point where nobody has any hope of taking the SJW World Tag Team Titles. Matches like this one certainly make a case for that. Non-Title Match: Gabriel Black pinned Brujah after a fisherman suplex in 0:15:09. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: Despite his best efforts, Brujah remains unable to score a win over Gabriel Black, but each time he gives him a good fight. If Brujah's technical skill and athletic ability ever caught up to his viciousness and aggression, he'd be a true force to be reckoned with. Ken Collins pinned Lance Errington after a small package in 0:22:22. Rating: **** (Ken Collins retained the VCW Intercontinental Title.) --Notes: Ken Collins and Lance Errington impress the crowd tonight with another amazing contest of wrestling ability, tenacity, and determination. This time, Lance Errington appeared to be on the edge of victory, though he was weary and a little bit light-headed from taking a few too many suplexes. He went for the Scorpion Deathlock after a big spinebuster, but Ken Collins pulled him into a small package and got a sudden pin. Lance Errington was enraged and continued to fight with Ken Collins after the match until the H.A.R.P. Squad pulled them apart. Crimson and Chris Champlain defeated Russel Taylor and Troy Black when Crimson pinned Russel the Muscle with the Chokeslam in 0:11:07. Rating: * --Notes: This unusual combination of wrestlers isn't working out too well. Chris Champlain and Russel "The Muscle" Taylor provided most of the action in this meeting, while Crimson was unmotivated and Troy Black was hardly a factor in this match, due to nagging problems stemming from his neck injury, which was aggravated at Survival of the Fittest. Crimson picked up the win here, and Troy Black will be taking the next two dates on VCW's schedule off to rest and try to recover for VCW Monday Night Wrestling.
