Results of VCW 10/20/01: Virginia, Komachi and Mary Cohen defeated Heather Dannon, Pauline Vietjohn and La Princesa Lobo when Virginia pinned Heather with the Virgin Sacrifice in 0:06:27. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: Mary Cohen's presence as Virginia and Komachi's partner provided their opponents with a chance to take on someone their own size. It may also be the primary reason they lasted so long, as Virginia and Komachi dominated the match every time they were in the ring. La Princesa Lobo, a newcomer to VCW, wrestled in a fur halter top and loin cloth, and bit and scratched her opponents like a feral beast, but Virginia and Komachi tended to just shrug it off and flatten her with power offense. Brian Rivera and Marylin Silvera defeated The New Immortals when Silvera pinned Lazzario after a Vader bomb in 0:08:51. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: All four of these guys gave it a decent effort, in between their routine comedy nonsense. The end of the match was exciting and fast-paced, ending with Marylin Silvera putting away Moy Lazzario with a DDT followed by a Vader bomb, and Brian Rivera stopping Bobby Danson from making the save. Hasan Gilden pinned The Green Dragon with the Neon Sunset in 0:05:15. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: These two men, both newcomers, faced off in their VCW debuts. The crowd was initially willing to give them a chance, but this turned into an unofficial intermission when they figured out that neither of these two are especially good. Hasan Gilden won with a reverse crucifix power bomb into an Ace Crusher that he calls the Neon Sunset. The Knights of the Squared Circle defeated the Jolly Rogers when Oldcastle pinned Guycot with the Big Splash in 0:06:13. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: Between Dave Adams's mediocrity, Tom Guycot's zaniness, and Jockey Oldcastle's utter lack of athleticism, this wasn't exactly the match to win the crowd back. This was a borderline-squash, and three-quarters of the match body consisted of Monty Pompous beating on Dave Adams or Tom Guycot. Russel Taylor, Dean Sanders, Lars Coverdale and Tommy Hustle defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman), Chris Champlain and David Wright Hubbard when Sanders pinned Manson after a backslide in 0:13:04. Rating: *** 1/4 --Notes: With Chris Champlain still in bad shape after his Horror Show match, and David Wright Hubbard nursing his chronically hurt knee, it fell on Hell's Bikers to be the workhorses of this match. Jack Norman's size and power offense and Butch Manson's ruthlessness helped keep them in the match, and it didn't hurt matters that Lars Coverdale just sat on the apron and sulked. But in the end, a wild brawl broke out. In the midst of that, Dean Sanders was canny enough to backslide Butch Manson and earn the flash pin for his team. The Tough Customers defeated The Wrecking Crew when Rogers defeated Blade via disqualification in 0:08:44. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: The Wrecking Crew was more aggressive and violent than they've been in their recent matches, and Bass Rogers and Darren Michaels weren't afraid to hit back. This match broke down into a common gutter fight several times--one too many times, as it turned out when the Wrecking Crew got carried away in the carnage and attacked the Tough Customers with baseball bats. Johnny Smiles and Ken Collins defeated Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon when Collins made Idol submit to the California Crossface in 0:15:30. Rating: *** 1/2 --Notes: Johnny Smiles and Ken Collins picked up a big win here by defeating one of the top tag teams in VCW. Idol and Solomon didn't go quietly; they used every asset at their disposal, and between Jacob Idol's wrestling skill, Rob Solomon's toughness, and their willingness to cheat at every opportunity, they gave their more popular opponents a lot of trouble. But tonight, at least, the unfailing determination of Johnny Smiles and the righteous wrath of Ken Collins couldn't be denied. The Ontario Colour Show defeated Gabriel Black and Lance Errington when Addison pinned Errington with the Tombstone in 0:24:03. Rating: **** (The Ontario Colour Show retained the VCW World Tag Team Titles.) --Notes: In a reversal of the situation from the last match, here a great tag team defeated two top singles stars. The Ontario Colour Show seemed to be in trouble at the beginning, as their opponents seemed to be nearly their equals in technical ability, and noticably superior in the brawling and viciousness department. But when things looked bleak, something clicked, and with no words spoken the Ontario Colour Show put aside their disagreements to gel as a tag team once more. Through superior teamwork, knowing the right place to be in at the right time to complement each other, they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat and defended their titles in a close, hard-fought battle. Crimson pinned Brujah with the Chokeslam in 0:07:52. Rating: * (Crimson retained the VCW World Title.) --Notes: As is often the case when he has to follow a terrific, exciting match, Crimson didn't seem to feel like doing much other than going though the motions here. Brujah assaulted him with everything in his arsenal, but Crimson shrugged it off and hit back, and Brujah eventually folded under Crimson's powerful assault.
