Results of VCW 10/27/01: Brian Rivera and Marylin Silvera defeated The New Immortals when Silvera pinned Lazzario after a Vader bomb in 0:05:34. Rating: ** 1/4 --Notes: This match was typical VCW house show opening fare from these teams. The crowd definitely favored Brian Rivera and Marylin Silvera over the New Immortals. Mary Cohen pinned La Princesa Lobo with the Crimson Teardrop in 0:05:06. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: Mary Cohen's decent skills but lack of emotion or intensity were sufficient to overcome La Princesa Lobo, who has the emotion and intensity but lacks the skills. This match got a few "boring" chants from the crowd. The Jolly Rogers defeated The Green Dragon and Hasan Gilden when Guycot pinned Green Dragon with the Skullicide in 0:07:09. Rating: ** --Notes: A small group of people was behind the Green Dragon after the TV exposure he received recently, but he's all muscle and silly antics without anything to back it up, and Hasan Gilden was too intent on showing off to the crowd and trying to get a rise out of them to really do much in the way of wrestling. Virginia and Komachi defeated Heather Dannon and Pauline Vietjohn when Komachi pinned Heather after a power bomb in 0:07:42. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: Heather Dannon and Pauline Vietjohn were never in danger of winning this match, but with resourcefulness, teamwork, and resilience they managed to drag it out for nearly eight minutes before being crushed. David Wright Hubbard pinned Tommy Hustle with the Flying Cross Bodypress in 0:04:03. Rating: ** --Notes: This was just four minutes of David Wright Hubbard giving Tommy Hustle an entertaining and impressive mauling. Tommy Hustle hit a few nice moves, but spent the greater part of the match being mercilessly thrown around until he was beaten. Brujah and Chris Champlain battled to a double countout in 0:12:55. Rating: ** 1/4 --Notes: One might think that Chris Champlain and Brujah would have a more intense, fast-paced brawl than this, but Chris Champlain still isn't in top shape and he didn't perform his usual wild antics. A few nerve holds and a lot of aimless brawling made the match less exciting than it could have been, but neither man was able to take a clear advantage by the time they ended up trading blows outside of the ring and got counted out. Non-Title-Match: The Ontario Colour Show defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) when Addison pinned Manson with the Tombstone in 0:16:17. Rating: *** 1/2 --Notes: The Ontario Colour Show had a hard time overcoming Jack Norman's size and power and Butch Manson's intensity and wild brawling, but in the end they triumphed. Butch Manson surprised and impressed many of the crowd by nearly keeping up with his faster, more agile opponents when they turned the speed of the match up, showing more quickness and conditioning than Hell's Bikers as a whole are often given credit for. The Wrecking Crew and The Knights of the Squared Circle defeated The Tough Customers, Russel Taylor and Dean Sanders when Uldwall pinned B. Rogers after a power bomb in 0:25:33. Rating: ** 1/4 --Notes: The surprise of this match was that John Uldwall actually managed to outbrawl and overpower Bass Rogers in the final moments of the match, a feat that only Crimson and Tony Garcia have managed with any great success until now. There wasn't much technical wrestling in this one, but impressive athleticism was shown by everyone except for Bass Rogers and Jockey Oldcastle. Johnny Smiles, Ken Collins, Lars Coverdale, and Stacey Lockman and Jacob Idol, Rob Solomon, Gabriel Black, and Melissa DelArmeggio battled to a draw in 0:30:00. Rating: *** --Notes: Melissa DelArmeggio made her return to the ring for the first time in months, and received a warm round of boos from the crowd. They only turned against her more when she fought Stacey Lockman with a slow-paced, bullying style, using her superior size to beat her up without performing any impressive aerial moves. Gabriel Black was definitely the most hated man in this match, though, and he was clearly out to punish Johnny Smiles. He nearly defeated him, catching him in a fisherman suplex just before the time limit ran out and Johnny was saved by the bell. Crimson pinned Lance Errington with the Chokeslam in 0:27:17. Rating: *** (Crimson retained the VCW World Title.) --Notes: As VCW Intercontinental Champion, Lance Errington is the number-one contender to the VCW World Title, and he called in his shot here against Crimson. He gave Crimson a hell of a fight, working over his legs and managing to hold his own when the match degenerated into a brawl, but as time went on he just couldn't put Crimson away. Crimson wouldn't tap out to the Scorpion Deathlock and wouldn't stay down for any of Lance's moves for long, and in the end his merciless power offense overcame Lance Errington for the victory.
