Results of VCW 10/28/01: Bra & Panties Match: Nurse Vivacia defeated Nicole in 0:03:05. Rating: -**** 1/2 --Notes: Nicole's attempts to wrestle were absolutely pathetic. Nurse Vivacia was able to brawl competently, but Nicole clearly didn't know what she was doing. Nurse Vivacia fought through her laughable attempts at offense, put her out with a sleeperhold, and then stripped her for the victory. The Jolly Rogers defeated The New Immortals when Dastardly Dave pinned Lazzario with the Doctor's Orders in 0:06:13. Rating: ** 1/4 --Notes: After the last match, the New Immortals sought revenge for their fallen manager, but it wasn't to be in this match. The whole match quickly degenerated into the typical circus, and Mongo, Seaman Staines, and Roger the Cabin Boy got involved as well in a wild, nonsensical brawl that eventually ended with a pin on Moy Lazzario. After this match was over, Mongo cleared the ring to the boos of the crowd. Tommy Hustle pinned Hasan Gilden after a backslide in 0:05:53. Rating: * 1/4 --Notes: Hasan Gilden did a lot of showing off and acting cocky, but his athleticism wasn't on the same level as Tommy Hustle's, and that cost him the match. His size advantage and brawling ability didn't mean much here without the focus and strategy that he needed to gain the upper hand. The Knights of the Squared Circle defeated Brian Rivera and Marylin Silvera when Oldcastle pinned Rivera after a bodyslam in 0:06:22. Rating: * 1/2 --Notes: Monty Pompous and Brian Rivera were happy to renew their old rivalry and attack one another in spirited combat, but Monty Pompous seemed somewhat intimidated by Marylin Silvera, who made suggestive advances at him. This time, the Knights of the Squared Circle managed to rally around the size and power of Jockey Oldcastle. Though he was sweating and wheezing badly after less than a minute of action, he was too big and fat for his opponents to hurt, and he eventually won the match by slamming Brian Rivera and then falling on top of him. Handicap-Match: Melissa DelArmeggio defeated Mary Cohen and La Princesa Lobo when Melissa pinned Cohen after a choke slam in 0:05:06. Rating: * --Notes: Melissa DelArmeggio wrestled this match like a male superheavyweight against two cruiserweights, and the crowd hated her for it. For the first time in memory, the crowd actually got behind Mary Cohen as they tried to cheer her and La Princesa Lobo on, but Melissa DelArmeggio shrugged off their attempts to hurt her and defeated them both for a one-sided victory. Dean Sanders made The Green Dragon submit to an STF in 0:06:30. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: Dean Sanders wasn't in the mood for the Green Dragon's silly, musclebound style of combat, so he beat the heck out of him for six and a half minutes and made him tap out to the STF. The Green Dragon got off some decent power offense, but for the most part he made a pathetic spectacle as he was dominated by his technically superior opponent. Virginia and Komachi defeated Heather Dannon and Pauline Vietjohn when Komachi pinned Heather with the Running Power Bomb in 0:06:19. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: Once again, it was all Heather Dannon and Pauline Vietjohn could do to hang in there as long as they did. They can avoid Virginia's lumbering offense at times, but they can't seem to hurt her or withstand much of her strength, and Komachi is just too all- around dominant for them to deal with. Non-Title Match: The Ontario Colour Show defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) when Canyon pinned Manson with the Magic Carpet Ride in 0:14:30. Rating: *** --Notes: No title was on the line, but the strength and aggression of Hell's Bikers was a difficult obstacle for the Ontario Colour Show to overcome nevertheless. In the end, their finesse and teamwork paid off, landing them on top of a wild free-for-all at the end of the match and putting Paul Canyon in position to finish Butch Manson with the Magic Carpet Ride. Lance Errington pinned Brujah after a top-rope Ace Crusher in 0:21:41. Rating: *** 1/2 (Lance Errington retained the VCW Intercontinental Title.) --Notes: Lance Errington wasn't prepared for Brujah's intensity in a brawl, and Brujah's unwillingness to tap out in the many submission holds Lance Errington tried made him very tough to put away. He kept the match hanging in the balance by drilling Lance Errington with his high-impact brawling offense, but Lance Errington's resourcefulness gave him the breaks he needed to stay in the match and ultimately overcome Brujah after a close, hard-fought battle. The Wrecking Crew and Chris Champlain defeated The Tough Customers and Russel Taylor when Champlain defeated Russel the Muscle by disqualification in 0:16:08. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: Chris Champlain still wasn't in top form during this match, but he was eager to get one more stab at Russel "The Muscle" Taylor--literally, in fact, as he came after him with scissors while the referee was distracted. After a long, hard-fought match full of brawling and battle, Chris Champlain caught Russel Taylor in the Texas Cloverleaf. Russel seemed game enough to fight for the ropes, but Brujah ran in, still in rough shape after the VCW Intercontinental Title match, and whacked him with a chair, causing Russel Taylor to lose via disqualification. Post-match, Bass Rogers lost his temper and went postal on the Wrecking Crew, Chris Champlain, AND Brujah as well with a chair before being talked down by Russel Taylor and Dean Sanders. Johnny Smiles, Ken Collins and Lars Coverdale defeated Jacob Idol, Rob Solomon, and Gabriel Black when Smiles pinned Idol with the Smiledriver in 0:18:59. Rating: *** 1/2 --Notes: Gabriel Black was a dominant part of his team, as could be expected, and even Ken Collins couldn't quite match him for sheer skill and wrestling ability. But through teamwork, determination, and luck, Johnny Smiles, Ken Collins, and Lars Coverdale managed to avoid defeat. The crowd got behind them, and when Johnny Smiles got the hot tag in against Jacob Idol, the arena filled with cheers. A wild six-man scramble erupted, and after a couple minutes of fast-paced excitement, Gabriel Black caught a Lars Coverdale superkick to the face as Ken Collins brought Rob Solomon down in the California Crossface. There was nobody to save Jacob Idol when Johnny Smiles planted him with the Smiledriver and won the match, to the delight of the crowd. Crimson pinned David Wright Hubbard with the Chokeslam in 0:14:36. Rating: * 3/4 (Crimson retained the VCW World Title.) --Notes: This match just didn't have the drama of the meeting between these two men at Wrestlewar III, primarily because the crowd would've just preferred to see them both carried out on stretchers. David Wright Hubbard tried a more calculating, tactical approach to this match, but Crimson has, if anything, only become meaner and more aggressive over the past year or so, and he wasn't about to lose this match as he lost their Wrestlewar III meeting. He actually managed to shake off most of David Wright Hubbard's power offense in the end to come through with a devestating assault that won him the match.
