Results of VCW 11/11/01: Tommy Hustle pinned Hasan Gilden after a flying somersault headbutt in 0:05:14. Rating: * 1/4 --Notes: Tommy Hustle missed a plancha near the beginning of the bout, and seemed shaken up for the rest of the encounter. Hasan Gilden fell into a pattern of hitting a couple of nice moves, then pausing to showboat for the crowd. This tendency to forget what he was doing cost Hasan Gilden in the end, as it gave Tommy Hustle a change to recover after getting hit with a discus clothesline, and nail Hasan Gilden with a nice dropkick to set up the flying somersault headbutt. The New Immortals and Steve McMichael defeated The Jolly Rogers and Roger the Cabin Boy when Danson pinned Roger after the Minnesota Jam in 0:09:41. Rating: * 3/4 --Notes: These two teams engaged in all the silly antics that one normally expects from them, with the exception of Steve McMichael who wrestled the entire match with a straight face. Roger the Cabin Boy proved to be the weak link for his team, and suffered a fair bit of abuse before finally going down to the Minnesota Jam. Christina Ellis, The Pink Kitten, Stacey Lockman and La Princesa Lobo defeated Virginia, Komachi, Mary Cohen and Melissa DelArmeggio when Christina pinned Cohen after the Dragon Suplex in 0:15:55. Rating: ** --Notes: The SJW World Tag Team Champions Christina Ellis and The Pink Kitten knew that their allies would not fare very well against the fearsome opposition, and did their best to carry the load for their team. Likewise, Virginia, Komachi and Melissa DelArmeggio were careful to keep Mary Cohen out of their way. Near the conclusion of the match, Virginia and Komachi attempted to double team Stacey Lockman, but Stacey Lockman ducked a lariat attempt and Virginia clocked Komachi by mistake. Stacey Lockman tagged in Christina Ellis, who tossed Virginia to the floor, where La Princesa Lobo was brawling with Melissa DelArmeggio. Komachi, shaken up by the lariat and lacking anyone else to tag, was forced to tag in Mary Cohen, who quickly fell prey to Christina Ellis's Dragon Suplex. Non-Title Match: Lance Errington pinned The Green Dragon after the Ace Crusher in 0:04:13. Rating: ** 1/4 --Notes: The only area in which The Green Dragon can be said to have any advantage over a grappler the caliber of Lance Errington is in the size and power department, not that it did him any good here. Lance Errington took his strangely costumed foe apart with basic technical maneuvers that The Green Dragon seemed powerless to counter, then finished the match with the Ace Crusher. Bikini Oil Wrestling Match: Nurse Vivacia pinned Nicole after a Bronco buster in 0:01:43. Rating: -** --Notes: This was a better match than their encounter two weeks ago, although that isn't saying much of anything. Nurse Vivacia and Nicole spent most of the match rolling around on the mat, and much to the crowd's delight there were a number of close calls involving both women's bikini tops. Nicole briefly held the upper hand, but slipped in the oil when attempting to climb the turnbuckle, setting herself up for the Bronco buster than won the match. The Wrecking Crew and The Knights of the Squared Circle defeated The Ontario Colour Show and The Tough Customers when Uldwall pinned B. Rogers after a power bomb in 0:22:06. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: The Wrecking Crew and The Tough Customers tore into each other with wild abandon, brawling inside and outside the ring. There were several extended beatdowns on Paul Canyon and Darren Michaels throughout the middle portion of the match, as the heel team used every trick in the book to try to prevent tags from being made. The last of these segments ended when Darren Michaels rolled out of the way of Jockey Oldcastle's Big Splash, and tagged in Bass Rogers. Bass Rogers cleaned house on the opposition, but didn't see Jockey Oldcastle make the tag to John Uldwall. When Bass Rogers ascended the turnbuckle to flatten Jockey Oldcastle with the Moonsault, John Uldwall climbed up after him, and brought him crashing down to the mat with a devastating belly-to-back superplex, followed by a power bomb to finish the job. Brujah defeated Dean Sanders by disqualification in 0:15:13. Rating: ** 1/2 --Notes: Although Dean Sanders is a much more accomplished technical wrestler than Brujah, he seemed intent on proving he's also a tougher brawler. Brujah, in his element, did not back down an inch, taking all Dean Sanders could throw at him with a satisfied grimace, and firing back with everything he had. The match ended prematurely when Chris Champlain ran down to the ring and attacked Brujah with an iron mace. Michelle Hubbard pinned Lizzie Carter after a lariat in 0:07:07. Rating: 1/2* --Notes: Lizzie Carter's youth and agility kept her one step ahead of the older, less mobile Michelle Hubbard for the early portion of this match, although neither woman displayed a whole lot of wrestling ability. An ill-advised frogsplash from Lizzie Carter around the halfway mark met with Michelle Hubbard's knees, allowing Michelle Hubbard to put the boots to Lizzie Carter for a few minutes, culminating in a vicious lariat that got the three count. Brian Rivera and Marylin Silvera defeated Hell's Bikers (Butch Manson and Jack Norman) when Silvera pinned Manson after a Vader bomb in 0:10:33. Rating: ** 3/4 --Notes: Brian Rivera and Marylin Silvera showed a great deal of team work in this bout, making quick tags in and out and doing a good job of not being caught in the unfriendly corner. Near the conclusion of the match, Jack Norman pulled a Three Musketeers bar from out of his pocket and tried to eat it, but Marylin Silvera grabbed the unwrapped candy bar, and shoved it down his own tights. Jack Norman seemed torn as to whether he wanted to retrieve the candy bar, until Butch Manson decided he had seen enough, and demanded to be tagged in. Butch Manson charged into the ring, and mowed Marylin Silvera down with a clothesline, but missed a moonsault, and soon fell prey to a Vader bomb. Jacob Idol, Rob Solomon, and Gabriel Black defeated Johnny Smiles, Ken Collins and Lars Coverdale when Gabriel pinned Coverdale after a fisherman suplex in 0:18:15. Rating: *** 1/2 --Notes: Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon were up to all their usual tricks here, baiting Johnny Smiles into the ring to distract the referee while they double-teamed his allies, and generally outmaneuvering their opponents with cheap tactics and a degree of unspoken communication that Johnny Smiles's team just couldn't match. The end of the bout saw the opposition doing their best to keep Lars Coverdale, arguably the least dangerous wrestler on his team, matched up against Gabriel Black. Lars Coverdale, to his credit, showed a lot of quickness and fighting spirit, but a missed superkick attempt gave Gabriel Black the split second he needed to hook Lars Coverdale with a fisherman suplex, and Jacob Idol and Rob Solomon cut off Johnny Smiles and Ken Collins from making the save while the referee counted to three. Crimson and Sadako Momotani defeated Russel Taylor and Sophie when Crimson pinned Sophie with the Chokeslam in 0:08:53. Rating: ** --Notes: Perhaps the only two people in the entire arena who didn't realize Russel Taylor and Sophie were fighting a losing battle were Russel Taylor and Sophie themselves. Russel Taylor took the fight to Crimson with numerous clotheslines, and even managed to take the World Champion down with a number of big slams. Sophie, for her part, showed great enthusiasm against Sadako Momotani, attacking her with various martial arts kicks. The joshi veteran, however, proved to be too tough for Sophie to handle, and when Crimson was tagged in against Sophie, he made short work out of her, bowling her over with a big boot, then splattering her on the canvas with a thunderous Chokeslam to win the match.
